1 Damals berief Salomo die Ältesten Israels und alle Stammeshäupter, die Fürsten der israelitischen Geschlechter, zum König Salomo nach Jerusalem, um des Herrn Bundeslade von der Davidsstadt, das ist Sion, hinaufzuführen.

Then King Salomon assembled the Elders of Israel, euen all the heads of the tribes, the chiefe fathers of the children of Israel vnto him in Ierusalem, for to bring vp the Arke of the couenant of the Lord from the citie of Dauid, which is Zion.

2 So sammelte sich beim König Salomo die ganze Mannschaft Israels im Monat Etanim, das ist im siebten Monat, am Feste.

And all the men of Israel assembled vnto King Salomon at the feast in the moneth of Ethanim, which is the seuenth moneth.

3 Da kamen alle Ältesten Israels, und die Priester trugen die Lade.

And all the Elders of Israel came and the Priests tooke the Arke.

4 Dann brachten sie die Lade des Herrn zum Festgezelt, ebenso alle heiligen Geräte im Zelt. So brachten sie die Priester und Leviten hinauf.

They bare the Arke of the Lord, and they bare the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tabernacle: those did the Priestes and Leuites bring vp.

5 Der König Salomo aber und Israels Gesamtgemeinde, die sich bei ihm eingefunden, standen mit ihm vor der Lade und opferten Schafe und Rinder, daß man sie nicht zählen noch berechnen konnte.

And King Salomon and all the Congregation of Israel, that were assembled vnto him, were with him before the Arke, offering sheepe and beeues, which could not be tolde, nor nombred for multitude.

6 Dann brachten die Priester des Herrn Bundeslade an ihren Ort im Hinterraum des Hauses, in das Allerheiligste, unter die Flügel der Cherube.

So the Priestes brought the Arke of the couenant of the Lord vnto his place, into the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, euen vnder the wings of the Cherubims.

7 Denn die Cherube breiteten die Flügel über den Ort der Lade. So bedeckten die Cherube die Lade und ihre Stangen von oben her.

For ye Cherubims stretched out their wings ouer the place of the Arke, and the Cherubims couered the Arke, and the barres thereof aboue.

8 Die Stangen waren so lang, daß die Stangenspitzen zwar vom Heiligtum gegen den Hinterraum hin gesehen werden konnten, aber von draußen nicht sichtbar waren. Sie blieben dort bis auf diesen Tag.

And they drewe out the barres, that the endes of the barres might appeare out of the Sanctuarie before the oracle, but they were not seene without: and there they are vnto this day.

9 In der Lade war nichts als die zwei steinernen Tafeln, die Moses am Horeb hineingelegt hatte, die Tafeln des Bundes, den der Herr mit den Israeliten geschlossen, als sie aus Ägypterland zogen.

Nothing was in the Arke saue the two tables of stone which Moses had put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a couenant with the children of Israel, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

10 Als aber die Priester das Heiligtum verließen, erfüllte die Wolke das Haus des Herrn.

And when the Priestes were come out of the Sanctuarie, the cloude filled the house of the Lord,

11 Und die Priester konnten wegen der Wolke nicht zur Dienstleistung hintreten, weil die Herrlichkeit des Herrn das Haus erfüllt hatte.

So that the Priestes could not stande to minister, because of the cloude: for the glorie of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.

12 Damals hat Salomo gesprochen: "Im Wetterdunkel hat der Herr gesprochen, er wolle Wohnung nehmen.

Then spake Salomon, The Lord said, that he woulde dwell in the darke cloude.

13 Nun habe ich ein Haus für Dich zur Wohnung hergestellt, zu Deinem Wohnsitz einen Ort für ewige Zeiten."

I haue built thee an house to dwell in, an habitation for thee to abide in for euer.

14 Dann wandte sich der König um und segnete die ganze Gemeinde Israels. Die Gesamtgemeinde Israels stand unterdessen.

And the King turned his face, and blessed all the Congregation of Israel: for all the Congregation of Israel stoode there.

15 Er sprach: "Gepriesen sei der Herr, Gott Israels, der schon durch seinen Mund mit David, meinem Vater, gesprochen hat und auch durch ihn erfüllt, was er geredet:

And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who spake with his mouth vnto Dauid my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

16 'Seitdem ich Israel, mein Volk, einst aus Ägypten herausgeführt, habe ich aus keinem Stamme Israels eine Stadt erkoren, ein Haus darin zu bauen, daß dort mein Name sei. Doch ich erwählte David, auf daß er meinem Volke Israel vorstehe.'

Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no citie of all the tribes of Israel, to builde an house that my name might be there: but I haue chosen Dauid to be ouer my people Israel.

17 Mein Vater David hatte zwar im Sinn, dem Herrn, dem Gotte Israels, für seinen Namen eine Stätte zu erbauen.

And it was in ye heart of Dauid my father to builde an house to the Name of the Lord God of Israel.

18 Doch sprach der Herr zu meinem Vater David: 'Daß du im Sinne hast, ein Haus zu bauen für meinen Namen, an diesem Plane hast du wohlgetan.

And the Lord said vnto Dauid my father, Where as it was in thine heart to build an house vnto my Name, thou diddest well, that thou wast so minded:

19 Doch du sollst nicht dies Haus errichten. Dein Sohn, dein Leibessprosse, baue mir ein Haus für meinen Namen!'

Neuerthelesse thou shalt not builde the house, but thy sonne that shall come out of thy loynes, he shall builde the house vnto my Name.

20 Der Herr bestätigte sein Wort, das er gesprochen. Ich trat an meines Vaters David Statt und setzte mich auf Israels Thron, wie es der Herr gesagt. Ich baute dieses Haus dem Herrn, dem Gott Israels, für seinen Namen.

And the Lord hath made good his worde that he spake: and I am risen vp in the roume of Dauid my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and haue built the house for the Name of the Lord God of Israel.

21 Ich machte einen Ort dort für die Lade, darin des Herren Bund sich findet, den er mit unseren Vätern abgeschlossen, als er sie aus Ägypterland geführt."

And I haue prepared therein a place for the Arke, wherein is the couenant of the Lord which he made with our fathers, whe he brought them out of the lande of Egypt.

22 Dann trat Salomo vor den Altar angesichts der Gesamtgemeinde Israels, breitete seine Hände zum Himmel

Then Salomon stoode before the altar of the Lord in the sight of all the Congregation of Israel, and stretched out his handes towarde heauen,

23 und sprach: 'Herr, Gott Israels! Kein Gott gleicht Dir, nicht in dem Himmel droben, nicht auf der Erde unten, der Du den gnadenvollen Bund bewahrest Deinen Dienern, die mit dem ganzen Herzen vor Dir wandeln,

And sayd, O Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee in heauen aboue, or in the earth beneath, thou that keepest couenant and mercie with thy seruants that walke before thee with all their heart,

24 der Du auch Deinem Knechte, meinem Vater, gehalten hast, was Du ihm einst versprochen. Du sprachest es mit Deinem Munde; mit Deiner Hand ließt Du's erfüllt, wie's heute ist.

Thou that hast kept with thy seruant Dauid my father, that thou hast promised him: for thou spakest with thy mouth and hast fulfilled it with thine hande, as appeareth this day.

25 Nun, Herr, Gott Israels! Erfülle Deinem Knechte David, meinem Vater, was Du ihm einst versprochen: 'Nie fehle dir vor mir ein Mann, der sitzet auf dem Throne Israels, falls deine Söhne nur auf ihren Weg so achten, daß sie vor mir ihn wandeln, so, wie auch du vor mir gewandelt bist.'

Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keepe with thy seruant Dauid my father that thou hast promised him, saying, Thou shalt not want a man in my sight to sit vpon ye throne of Israel: so that thy childre take heed to their way, that they walke before me; as thou hast walked in my sight

26 Nun, Herr, Gott Israels! Dein Wort bewahrheite sich jetzt, das Du zu Deinem Knechte, meinem Vater David hast gesprochen.

And nowe, O God of Israel, I pray thee, let thy worde be verified, which thou spakest vnto thy seruant Dauid my father.

27 Soll denn in Wahrheit Gott auf Erden wohnen? Dich fassen nicht der Himmel, noch der Himmel Himmel, geschweige dieses Haus, das ich erbaut.

Is it true in deede that God will dwell on the earth? beholde, the heauens, and the heauens of heauens are not able to conteine thee: howe much more vnable is this house that I haue built?

28 Doch wende Dich dem Flehgebete Deines Knechtes zu, Du Herr, mein Gott, daß Du das Rufen und das Beten hörest, das heute Dein Knecht vor Dir vollzieht!

But haue thou respect vnto the prayer of thy seruant, and to his supplication, O Lord, my God, to heare the cry and prayer which thy seruant prayeth before thee this day:

29 Laß Deine Augen über diesem Hause offenstehen bei Tag und Nacht, hier über diesem Ort, von dem Du ausgesagt: 'Mein Name wird hier sein', um das Gebet zu hören, das hier Dein Knecht verrichtet!

That thine eyes may be open toward this house, night and day, euen towarde the place whereof thou hast said, My Name shalbe there: that thou mayest hearken vnto the prayer which thy seruant prayeth in this place.

30 Hör auf das Flehen Deines Knechtes und Deines Volkes Israel, die hier an diesem Orte beten! Vernimm es an der Stätte, wo Du thronst, im Himmel! Erhör es dann! Verzeih!

Heare thou therefore the supplication of thy seruant, and of thy people Israel, which pray in this place, and heare thou in the place of thine habitation, euen in heauen, and when thou hearest, haue mercie.

31 Wenn jemand gegen seinen Nächsten fehlt, und man verlangt von ihm den Eid, er soll's beschwören, und kommt er zu dem Eid in dieses Haus vor Deinen Altar,

When a man shall trespasse against his neighbour, and he lay vpon him an othe to cause him to sweare, and the swearer shall come before thine altar in this house,

32 so greife Du, im Himmel hörend, ein! Schaff Deinen Dienern Recht, daß Du den Schuldigen bestrafst und auf sein Haupt sein Tun läßt fallen und freisprichst den, der ohne Schuld, und ihm nach seiner Unschuld lohnest!

Then heare thou in heauen, and doe and iudge thy seruants, that thou condemne the wicked to bring his way vpon his head, and iustifie the righteous, to giue him according to his righteousnesse.

33 Wird von dem Feinde Israel, Dein Volk, geschlagen, dieweil es sich an Dir verfehlt, und sie bekehren sich zu Dir und preisen Deinen Namen und flehn zu Dir, in diesem Hause betend,

When thy people Israel shall be ouerthrowen before the enemie, because they haue sinned against thee, and turne againe to thee, and confesse thy Name, and pray and make supplication vnto thee in this house,

34 hör Du im Himmel! Vergib die Sünde Deines Volkes Israel! Laß seßhaft sie verbleiben auf der Scholle, die ihren Vätern Du verliehen!

Then heare thou in heauen, and be mercifull vnto the sinne of thy people Israel, and bring them againe vnto the lande, which thou gauest vnto their fathers.

35 Und ist der Himmel fest verschlossen und fällt kein Regen mehr, weil gegen Dich sie sich verfehlt, und beten sie alsdann an dieser Stätte in dem Bekenntnis Deines Namens und kehren sie von ihrer Sünde, dieweil Du sie gebeugt,

When heauen shalbe shut vp, and there shalbe no raine because they haue sinned against thee, and shall pray in this place, and confesse thy Name, and turne from their sinne, when thou doest afflict them,

36 dann hör es, Du im Himmel! Vergib die Sünde Deiner Knechte und Deines Volkes Israel Vergehen! Den guten Weg, auf dem sie wandeln sollen, weise ihnen! Send Regen Deinem Lande, das Du zum Erbteil Deinem Volk verliehen!

Then heare thou in heauen, and pardon the sinne of thy seruants and of thy people Israel (when thou hast taught the the good way wherein they may walke) and giue raine vpon the land that thou hast giuen to thy people to inherite.

37 Und wäre Hungersnot im Lande und wären Pest, Getreidebrand, Vergilbung, Heuschrecken und sonstig Ungeziefer da, bedrängte es sein Feind in seiner Tore Pforten und käme irgendwelche Plage, irgendwelche Krankheit,

When there shalbe famine in the land, when there shalbe pestilence, when there shall be blasting, mildewe, grashopper or caterpiller, when their enemie shall besiege them in the cities of their lande, or any plague, or any sickenesse,

38 bei jeder Klage, jeder Bitte, sei's von irgendeinem Menschen, sei es von Deinem ganzen Volke Israel, wer je ein Leid in seinem Herzen trägt und hin nach diesem Hause seine Hände breitet,

Then what prayer, and supplication so euer shalbe made of any man or of all thy people Israel, when euery one shall knowe the plague in his owne heart, and stretch foorth his handes in this house,

39 den hör im Himmel Du! Vergib an jener Stätte, wo Du thronest! Gib jeglichem nach seinem ganzen Wandel, sowie sein Herz Du kennst! Denn Du allein kennst aller Menschenkinder Herz.

Heare thou then in heauen, in thy dwelling place, and be mercifull, and doe, and giue euery man according to all his wayes, as thou knowest his heart, (for thou only knowest the heartes of all the children of men)

40 Dann fürchten sie Dich alle Zeit, solang sie auf der Scholle leben, die unsern Vätern Du verliehen.

That they may feare thee as long as they liue in ye lad, which thou gauest vnto our fathers.

41 Doch auch der fremde Mann, der nicht zu Deinem Volke Israel gehört, wenn er aus fremdem Lande kommt um Deines Namens willen

Moreouer as touching the stranger that is not of thy people Israel, who shall come out of a farre countrey for thy Names sake,

42 - sie hören ja von Deinem großen Namen, von Deiner starken Hand und Deinem ausgestreckten Arm - wenn dieser hergepilgert und bei diesem Hause betet,

(When they shall heare of thy great name, and of thy mightie hande, and of thy stretched out arme) and shall come and pray in this house,

43 hör Du im Himmel, Deiner Wohnstatt, und tu all das, worum der Fremdling zu Dir ruft, daß alle Erdenvölker Deinen Namen kennenlernen, daß sie Dich also fürchten, gleich Deinem Volke Israel, und daß sie inne werden, daß über diesem Haus, das ich erbaut, Dein Name ausgerufen ist!

Heare thou in heauen thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth for vnto thee: that all the people of the earth may know thy Name, and feare thee, as do thy people Israel: and that they may know, that thy Name is called vpon in this house which I haue built.

44 Und zieht Dein Volk zum Streite wider Deine Feinde des Wegs, den Du sie sendest, und beten sie zum Herrn, hin nach der Stadt, die Du erwählt, und nach dem Haus, das ich errichtet Deinem Namen,

When thy people shall go out to battell against their enemie by the way that thou shalt sende them, and shall pray vnto the Lord towarde the way of the citie which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I haue built for thy Name,

45 hör Du im Himmel ihr Gebet und Flehen! Schaff ihnen Sieg!

Heare thou then in heauen their prayer and their supplication, and iudge their cause.

46 Und wenn sie sich an Dir verfehlt - kein Mensch ist, der nicht sündigte - und wenn Du ihnen zürntest und sie dem Feinde überliefertest und ihre Zwingherrn sie in Feindesland verschleppten, nah oder fern,

If they sinne against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not) and thou be angry with them, and deliuer them vnto the enemies, so that they cary them away prisoners vnto the land of the enemies, either farre or neere,

47 und gehen sie im Land, wo sie gefangen sind, in sich, bekehren sich und flehn zu Dir in ihrer Zwingherrn Land und sprechen: 'Gesündigt haben wir und schlecht gehandelt und gefrevelt',

Yet if they turne againe vnto their heart in the lande (to the which they be caryed away captiues) and returne and pray vnto thee in the lande of them that caryed them away captiues, saying, We haue sinned, we haue transgressed, and done wickedly,

48 und sie bekehren sich zu Dir von ganzem Herzen, ganzer Seele im Lande ihrer Feinde, die sie weggeschleppt, und beten sie zu Dir nach ihrem Lande hin, das ihren Vätern Du verliehen, hin zu der Stadt, die Du erwählt, hin zu dem Haus, das ich errichtet Deinem Namen,

If they turne againe vnto thee with all their heart, and with all their soule in the lande of their enemies, which led them away captiues, and pray vnto thee toward the way of their land, which thou gauest vnto their fathers, and toward the citie which thou hast chosen, and the house, which I haue built for thy Name,

49 hör Du im Himmel, Deines Thronens Ort, ihr Flehen und Gebet! Schaff ihnen Recht!

Then heare thou their prayer and their supplication in heauen thy dwelling place, and iudge their cause,

50 Verzeih dann Deinem Volk, was es an Dir gefehlt, und alle ihre Missetaten, womit sie gegen Dich sich je vergangen! Laß ihnen Huld von ihren Zwingherrn widerfahren, daß diese ihrer sich erbarmen!

And be mercifull vnto thy people that haue sinned against thee, and vnto all their iniquities (wherein they haue transgressed against thee) and cause that they, which led them away captiues, may haue pitie and compassion on them:

51 Sie sind Dein Volk, Dein Eigentum, das Du einst aus Ägypten weggeführt, dort mitten aus dem Schmelzofen des Eisens.

For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out of Egypt from the middes of the yron fornace.

52 Laß Deine Augen offenstehen für das Flehen Deines Dieners und für das Flehen Deines Volkes Israel! Daß Du in allem sie erhörst, worum sie Dich anrufen!

Let thine eyes be open vnto the prayer of thy seruant, and vnto the prayer of thy people Israel, to hearken vnto them, in all that they call for vnto thee.

53 Du hast zum Eigentum sie ausgesondert aus allen Erdenvölkern, wie Du durch Moses, Deinen Knecht, verheißen, als Du einst unsre Väter aus Ägypten führtest, Herr, mein Herr!'"

For thou diddest separate them to thee from among all people of the earth for an inheritance, as thou saidest by the hand of Moses thy seruant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord God.

54 Als Salomo all dieses Flehen und Beten zum Herrn beendigt hatte, stand er von dem Platze vor des Herrn Altar auf, wo er auf den Knien gelegen und seine Hände zum Himmel gebreitet hatte.

And when Salomon had made an ende of praying all this prayer and supplication vnto the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees, and stretching of his handes to heauen,

55 Dann trat er vor und segnete mit lauter Stimme die Gemeinde Israels und sprach:

And stoode and blessed all the Congregation of Israel with a loud voyce, saying,

56 "Gepriesen sei der Herr, der Ruhe seinem Volke Israel geschenkt, ganz so, wie er's verheißen hat! Von all den herrlichen Verheißungen, die er durch seinen Diener Moses einst gegeben, ist auch nicht eine einzige ausgeblieben.

Blessed be the Lord that hath giuen rest vnto his people Israel, according to all that hee promised: there hath not fayled one word of all his good promise which he promised by the hand of Moses his seruant.

57 Mit uns sei unser Herr und Gott, wie er mit unsern Vätern einst gewesen! Ach, er verlaß uns nicht, verstoß uns nicht!

The Lord our God be with vs, as he was with our fathers, that he forsake vs not, neither leaue vs,

58 Er lenke unsre Herzen zu sich hin, daß wir auf allen seinen Wegen wandeln und seine Vorschriften, Gesetze und Verordnungen beachten, die er einst unsern Vätern anbefohlen!

That he may bow our heartes vnto him, that we may walke in all his waies, and keepe his commandements, and his statutes, and his lawes, which he commanded our fathers.

59 So mögen diese meine Worte, die ich vorm Herrn im Flehgebete ausgesprochen, ganz nahe sein dem Herren, unserm Gott, bei Tag und Nacht, auf daß er seinem Knecht und seinem Volke Israel nach eines jeden Tags Bedürfnis Recht verschaffe!

And these my wordes, which I haue prayed before the Lord, be neere vnto the Lord our God day and night, that he defende the cause of his seruant, and the cause of his people Israel alway as the matter requireth,

60 So kommen alle Erdenvölker zu der Einsicht, daß nur der Herr ist Gott und keiner sonst.

That all the people of ye earth may knowe, that the Lord is God, and none other.

61 Und euer Herz sei ganz beim Herren, unserm Gott, daß ihr nach seinen Rechten wandelt und das, was er gebietet, haltet, so wie heute!"

Let your heart therefore be perfit with the Lord our God to walke in his statutes, and to keepe his commandements, as this day.

62 Dann opferten der König und ganz Israel mit ihm vor dem Herrn Schlachtopfer.

Then the King and all Israel with him offred sacrifice before the Lord.

63 Als Dankopfer, das er dem Herrn opferte, brachte Salomo 22.000 Rinder und 12.000 Schafe dar. So weihten sie das Haus des Herrn ein, der König und alle Söhne Israels.

And Salomon offered a sacrifice of peace offrings which he offered vnto the Lord, to wit, two and twentie thousande beeues, and an hundreth and twentie thousande sheepe: so the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the Lord.

64 An jenem Tag hatte der König den mittleren Teil des Vorhofes vor dem Hause des Herrn eingeweiht. Denn er hatte dort das Brand- und das Speiseopfer bereitet sowie die Fettstücke des Mahlopfers. Der eherne Altar, der vor dem Herrn stand, war nämlich zu klein, um das Brand- und das Speiseopfer sowie die Fettstücke des Mahlopfers zu fassen.

The same day did the King halowe the middle of the court, that was before the house of the Lord: for there he made burnt offerings, and the meate offrings, and the fat of the peace offeringes, because the brasen altar that was before the Lord, was too litle to receiue the burnt offerings, and the meate offerings, and the fat of the peace offrings.

65 So feierte Salomo in jener Zeit das Fest, mit ihm ganz Israel, eine große Gemeinde von da, wo es nach Hamat geht, bis zu Ägyptens Bach, vor dem Herrn, unserem Gott, sieben Tage lang und nochmals sieben Tage, vierzehn Tage.

And Salomon made at that time a feast and all Israel with him, a very great Congregation, euen from the entring in of Hamath vnto the riuer of Egypt, before the Lord our God, seuen dayes and seuen dayes, euen fourteene dayes.

66 Am achten Tage aber hatte er das Volk entlassen. Sie segneten den König und gingen in ihre Heimat, fröhlich und guten Mutes wegen all des Guten, das der Herr seinem Diener David und seinem Volke Israel getan.

And the eight day he sent the people away: and they thanked the King and went vnto their tentes ioyous and with glad heart, because of al the goodnesse that the Lord had done for Dauid his seruant, and for Israel his people.
