1 Korinther 8
1 Was weiter das Götzenopferfleisch betrifft, so nehme ich an, wir alle wissen, um was es sich handelt. - Die Erkenntnis bläht auf; die Liebe aber erbaut.
Now concerning those things that are sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up; but charity edifieth.
2 Wenn einer meint, etwas erkannt zu haben, so weiß er doch noch lange nicht, wie man erkennen muß.
And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he hath not yet known as he ought to know.
3 Wenn aber einer Gott liebt, so ist er von ihm erkannt. -
But if any any love God, the same is known by him.
4 Was also den Genuß von Götzenopferfleisch betrifft, so wissen wir, es gibt keine Götzen in der Welt, und es ist kein Gott, als allein der Eine.
But as for the meats that are sacrificed to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no God but one.
5 Mag es auch im Himmel oder auf Erden sogenannte Götter geben - es gibt ja so viele Götter und so viele Herren -,
For although there be that are called gods, either in heaven or on earth (for there be gods many, and lords many).
6 für uns gibt es doch nur einen Gott, den Vater, aus dem alles ist, für den wir sind, und einen Herrn, Jesus Christus, durch den alles ist und durch den auch wir sind.
Yet to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
7 Allein nicht alle haben die Erkenntnis; manche essen noch mit ihrer alten Göttervorstellung das Fleisch als Götzenopferfleisch, und ihr Gewissen, schwach wie es ist, wird befleckt.
But there is not knowledge in every one. For some until this present, with conscience of the idol: eat as a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
8 An sich stellt uns die Speise nicht vor den Richterstuhl Gottes: Wir gelten um nichts weniger, wenn wir nicht essen, und um nichts mehr, wenn wir essen.
But meat doth not commend us to God. For neither, if we eat, shall we have the more; nor, if we eat not, shall we have the less.
9 Doch seht zu, daß diese eure Freiheit den Schwachen nicht zum Anstoß werde.
But take heed lest perhaps this your liberty become a stumblingblock to the weak.
10 Denn sieht dich, der du Erkenntnis hast, einer an einem Tempelmahl teilnehmen, wird sein Gewissen, weil es schwach ist, nicht dadurch "auferbaut werden", nun Götzenopferfleisch als solches zu genießen?
For if a man see him that hath knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not his conscience, being weak, be emboldened to eat those things which are sacrificed to idols?
11 So kommt der Schwache durch dein Wissen ins Verderben, der Bruder, für den Christus gestorben ist.
And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ hath died?
12 Wenn ihr in dieser Weise an den Brüdern euch versündigt und so ihr schwaches Gewissen verletzt, dann sündigt ihr gegen Christus.
Now when you sin thus against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
