1 Korinther 10

1 Ich möchte nämlich, meine Brüder, daß ihr wohl beachtet, daß alle unsere Väter unter der Wolke waren, alle durch das Meer hindurchgingen,

For I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea.

2 alle die Taufe auf Moses hin empfingen in der Wolke und im Meer,

And all in Moses were baptized, in the cloud, and in the sea:

3 alle auch die gleiche geistige Speise aßen,

And did all eat the same spiritual food,

4 alle auch denselben geistigen Trank genossen - sie tranken nämlich aus dem geistigen Felsen, der ihnen folgte; der Fels aber war Christus -,

And all drank the same spiritual drink; (and they drank of the spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.)

5 doch an den meisten unter ihnen hatte Gott kein Wohlgefallen; und so wurden sie in der Wüste hingestreckt.

But with most of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the desert.

6 Das sind nun Vorbilder für uns, damit es uns nicht nach Bösem gelüste, wie es jene einst gelüstete.

Now these things were done in a figure of us, that we should not covet evil things as they also coveted.

7 Werdet auch nicht Götzendiener, wie manche aus ihnen, wie geschrieben steht: "Das Volk ließ sich nieder, um zu essen und zu trinken, und es erhob sich wieder, um zu tanzen."

Neither become ye idolaters, as some of them, as it is written: The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

8 Wir wollen auch keine Unzucht treiben, wie es manche aus ihnen trieben, so daß an einem Tage dreiundzwanzigtausend fielen.

Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed fornication, and there fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

9 Auch wollen wir den Herrn nicht versuchen, wie manche aus ihnen ihn versuchten und dann durch Schlangen starben.

Neither let us tempt Christ: as some of them tempted, and perished by the serpents.

10 Murrt auch nicht, wie so manche unter ihnen murrten, die von dem Würgengel weggerafft wurden.

Neither do you murmur: as some of them murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

11 Dies alles ist jenen widerfahren als ein Vorbild; doch aufgeschrieben ward es uns zur Warnung, die wir das Ende der Zeiten erleben. (aiōn g165)

Now all these things happened to them in figure: and they are written for our correction, upon whom the ends of the world are come. (aiōn g165)

12 Deshalb, wer zu stehen meint, der sehe zu, daß er nicht falle.

Wherefore he that thinketh himself to stand, let him take heed lest he fall.

13 Nur eine menschliche Versuchung hat euch jetzt gepackt; Gott aber ist getreu: Er wird nicht zulassen, daß ihr über eure Kräfte versucht werdet, vielmehr mit der Versuchung auch den guten Ausgang geben, so daß ihr es ertragen könnt.

Let no temptation take hold on you, but such as is human. And God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which you are able: but will make also with temptation issue, that you may be able to bear it.

14 So fliehet denn, Geliebteste, den Götzendienst!

Wherefore, my dearly beloved, fly from the service of idols.

15 Ich rede, wie man mit verständigen Menschen redet; beurteilt selber, was ich sage.

I speak as to wise men: judge ye yourselves what I say.

16 Ist denn der Kelch der Segnung, den wir segnen, nicht Gemeinschaft mit dem Blute Christi? Und ist das Brot, das wir brechen, nicht Gemeinschaft mit dem Leibe Christi?

The chalice of benediction, which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? And the bread, which we break, is it not the partaking of the body of the Lord?

17 Weil nur ein Brot ist, so sind wir viele ein Leib; denn wir alle nehmen an dem einen Brote teil.

For we, being many, are one bread, one body, all that partake of one bread.

18 Seht hin auf Israel dem Fleische nach! Haben die, die vom Opfer essen, nicht mit dem Altare Gemeinschaft?

Behold Israel according to the flesh: are not they, that eat of the sacrifices, partakers of the altar?

19 Was will ich denn nun damit sagen? Vielleicht, daß ein Götzenopfer etwas sei? Oder daß solch ein Götze etwas sei?

What then? Do I say, that what is offered in sacrifice to idols, is any thing? Or, that the idol is any thing?

20 Gewiß nicht! Wohl aber, daß das, was die Heiden opfern, den Dämonen und nicht Gott geopfert wird. Ich will nun aber nicht, daß ihr mit den Dämonen in Gemeinschaft tretet.

But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils.

21 Ihr könnt nicht den Kelch des Herrn trinken und zugleich den Kelch der Dämonen. Ihr könnt nicht am Tische des Herrn teilhaben und zugleich am Tische der Dämonen.

You cannot drink the chalice of the Lord, and the chalice of devils: you cannot be partakers of the table of the Lord, and of the table of devils.

22 Oder wollen wir den Herrn herausfordern? Sind wir denn mächtiger als er?

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he? All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient.

23 Alles ist erlaubt; doch es nützt nicht alles; alles ist erlaubt; doch nicht alles ist erbaulich.

All things are lawful for me, but all things do not edify.

24 Niemand suche sein eigenes Wohl, vielmehr das Wohl des Nächsten.

Let no man seek his own, but that which is another’s.

25 Alles, was auf dem Markte verkauft wird, esset es, ohne des Gewissens wegen nachzufragen.

Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, eat; asking no question for conscience’ sake.

26 "Dem Herrn gehört ja die Erde und das, was sie erfüllt."

The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.

27 Wenn nun ein Ungläubiger euch zu Tische bittet, und ihr möchtet gern dorthin gehen, so eßt alles, was euch vorgesetzt wird, ohne des Gewissens wegen nachzufragen.

If any of them that believe not, invite you, and you will be willing to go; eat of any thing that is set before you, asking no question for conscience’ sake.

28 Sagt aber einer zu euch: "Es ist Götzenopferfleisch." Dann eßt es nicht, und zwar um dessentwillen, der euch gewarnt hat und um des Gewissens willen.

But if any man say: This has been sacrificed to idols, do not eat of it for his sake that told it, and for conscience’ sake.

29 Ich meine aber nicht das eigene Gewissen, sondern das des anderen. Warum soll ich aber meine Freiheit von dem Gewissen eines anderen richten lassen?

Conscience, I say, not thy own, but the other’s. For why is my liberty judged by another man’s conscience?

30 Wenn ich mit Dank teilnehme, warum soll ich mich schmähen lassen wegen etwas, wofür ich Dank sage?

If I partake with thanksgiving, why am I evil spoken of, for that for which I give thanks?

31 Ihr möget essen oder trinken oder irgend etwas anderes tun - tut alles zur Ehre Gottes!

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatsoever else you do, do all to the glory of God.

32 Erregt keinen Anstoß weder bei Juden noch bei Heiden noch in der Kirche Gottes,

Be without offence to the Jews, and to the Gentiles, and to the church of God:

33 wie auch ich in allen Stücken euch allen zu Gefallen bin und in keiner Weise meinen eigenen Vorteil suche, sondern den Vorteil der vielen, damit sie Rettung finden.

As I also in all things please all men, not seeking that which is profitable to myself, but to many, that may be saved.
