1 Und Elia, [H. Elijah: Jah ist mein Gott] der Tisbiter, von den Beisassen Gileads, [And.: von Tischbe-Gilead] sprach zu Ahab: So wahr Jehova lebt, der Gott Israels, vor dessen Angesicht ich stehe, wenn es in diesen Jahren Tau und Regen geben wird, es sei denn auf mein Wort!
And Elie `of Thesbi, of the dwelleris of Galaad, seide to Achab, The Lord God of Israel lyueth, in whos siyt Y stonde, deeu and reyn schal not be in these yeeris, no but bi the wordis of my mouth.
2 Und es geschah das Wort Jehovas zu ihm also:
And the word of the Lord was maad to hym, and seide,
3 Gehe von hinnen und wende dich nach Osten, und verbirg dich am Bache Krith, der vor [d. h. östlich von] dem Jordan ist.
Go thou awey fro hennus, and go ayens the eest, and be thou hid in the stronde of Carith, which is ayens Jordan,
4 Und es soll geschehen, aus dem Bache wirst du trinken, und ich habe den Raben geboten, dich daselbst zu versorgen.
and there thou schalt drynke of the stronde; and Y comaundide to crowis, that thei feede thee there.
5 Und er ging hin und tat nach dem Worte Jehovas: er ging hin und blieb am Bache Krith, der vor dem Jordan ist.
Therfor he yede, and dide bi the word of the Lord; and whanne he hadde go, he sat in the stronde of Carith, which is ayens Jordan.
6 Und die Raben brachten ihm Brot und Fleisch am Morgen, und Brot und Fleisch am Abend, und er trank aus dem Bache.
And crowis baren to hym breed and fleisch eerli; in lijk maner in the euentid; and he drank of the stronde.
7 Und es geschah nach Verlauf einer Zeit, da vertrocknete der Bach, denn es war kein Regen im Lande.
Forsothe after summe daies the stronde was dried; for it hadde not reynede on the erthe.
8 Da geschah das Wort Jehovas zu ihm also:
Therfor the word of the Lord was maad to hym, and seide,
9 Mache dich auf, gehe nach Zarpath, [H. Zarephath; Gr. Sarepta] das zu Zidon gehört, und bleibe daselbst; siehe ich habe daselbst einer Witwe geboten, dich zu versorgen.
Rise thou, and go in to Serepta of Sydoneis, and thou schalt dwelle there; for Y comaundide to a womman, widewe there, that sche feede thee.
10 Und er machte sich auf und ging nach Zarpath; und als er an den Eingang der Stadt kam, siehe, da war eine Witwe daselbst, die Holz auflas. Und er rief ihr zu und sprach: Hole mir doch ein wenig Wasser im Gefäß, daß ich trinke!
He roos, and yede in to Sarepta of Sidoneis; and whanne he hadde come to the yate of the citee, a womman widewe gaderynge stickis apperide to hym; and he clepide hir, and seide to hir, Yyue thou to me a litil of water in a vessel, that Y drynke.
11 Und als sie hinging, um es zu holen, rief er ihr zu und sprach: Hole mir doch einen Bissen Brot in deiner Hand!
And whanne sche yede to bringe, he criede bihynde hir bac, and seide, Y biseche, bringe thou to me also a mussel of breed in thin hond.
12 Und sie sprach: So wahr Jehova, dein Gott lebt, wenn ich einen Kuchen [d. h. Brotkuchen] habe außer einer Handvoll Mehl im Topfe und ein wenig Öl im Kruge! und siehe, ich lese ein paar Holzstücke auf und will hineingehen und es mir und meinem Sohne bereiten, daß wir es essen und dann sterben.
And sche answeride, Thi Lord God lyueth, for Y haue no breed, no but as myche of mele in a pot, as a fist may take, and a litil of oile in a vessel; lo! Y gadere twei stickis, that Y entre, and make it to me, and to my sone, that we ete and die.
13 Und Elia sprach zu ihr: Fürchte dich nicht! gehe hinein, tue nach deinem Worte; doch bereite mir zuerst einen kleinen Kuchen davon und bringe ihn mir heraus; und dir und deinem Sohne bereite danach.
And Elie seide to hir, Nyle thou drede, but go, and make as thou seidist; netheles make thou firste to me of that litil mele a litil loof, bakun vndur the aischis, and brynge thou to me; sotheli thou schalt make afterward to thee and to thi sone.
14 Denn so spricht Jehova, der Gott Israels: Das Mehl im Topfe soll nicht ausgehen, und das Öl im Kruge nicht abnehmen [Eig. der Mehltopf soll nicht ausgehen und der Ölkrug soll nicht abnehmen; so auch v 16] bis auf den Tag, da Jehova Regen geben wird auf den Erdboden.
Forsothe the Lord God of Israel seith thes thingis, The pot of mele schal not faile, and the vessel of oile schal not be abatid, til to the dai in which the Lord schal yyue reyn on the face of erthe.
15 Und sie ging hin und tat nach dem Worte Elias; und sie aß, er und sie, und ihr Haus, viele Tage.
And sche yede, and dide bi the word of Elie; and he eet, and sche, and hir hows.
16 Das Mehl im Topfe ging nicht aus, und das Öl im Kruge nahm nicht ab, nach dem Worte Jehovas, das er durch Elia geredet hatte.
And fro that dai the pot of mele failide not, and the vessel of oile was not abatid, bi the word of the Lord, which he hadde spoke in the hond of Elie.
17 Und es geschah nach diesen Dingen, da wurde der Sohn des Weibes, der Hauswirtin, krank; und seine Krankheit wurde sehr schwer, so daß kein Odem mehr in ihm blieb.
Forsothe it was doon aftir these wordis, the sone of a womman hosewijf was sijk, and the sijknesse was moost strong, so that breeth dwellide not in hym.
18 Da sprach sie zu Elia: Was haben wir miteinander zu schaffen, Mann Gottes? Du bist [O. Bist du?] zu mir gekommen, um meine Ungerechtigkeit ins Gedächtnis zu bringen und meinen Sohn zu töten!
Therfor sche seide to Elie, What to me and to thee, thou man of God? Entridist thou to me, that my wickidnessis schulden be remembrid, and that thou schuldist sle my sone?
19 Und er sprach zu ihr: Gib mir deinen Sohn her. Und er nahm ihn von ihrem Schoße [Eig. Busen] und brachte ihn hinauf in das Obergemach, wo er wohnte, und legte ihn auf sein Bett.
And Elie seide to hir, Yyue thi sone to me. And he took `that sone fro hir bosum, and bar in to the soler, where he dwellide; and he puttide hym on his bed.
20 Und er rief zu Jehova und sprach: Jehova, mein Gott, hast du gar an der Witwe, bei der ich mich aufhalte, übel getan, ihren Sohn zu töten?
And he criede to the Lord, and seide, My Lord God, whether thou hast turmentid also the widewe, at whom Y am susteyned in al maner, that thou killidist hir sone?
21 Und er streckte sich dreimal über das Kind, und rief zu Jehova und sprach: Jehova, mein Gott, laß doch die Seele dieses Kindes wieder in dasselbe zurückkehren!
He sprad abrood hym silf, and mat on the child bi thre tymes; and he cryede to the Lord, and seide, My Lord God, Y biseche, the soule of this child turne ayen in to the entrailis of hym.
22 Und Jehova hörte auf die Stimme Elias, und die Seele des Kindes kehrte wieder in dasselbe zurück, und es wurde lebendig. [W. es lebte]
The Lord herde the vois of Elie, and the soule of the child turnede ayen with ynne hym, and he lyuede ayen.
23 Da nahm Elia das Kind und brachte es von dem Obergemach in das Haus hinab und gab es seiner Mutter; und Elia sprach: Siehe, dein Sohn lebt!
And Elie took the child, and puttide hym doun of the soler in to the lower hows, and bitook him to his modir; and he seide to hir, Lo! thi sone lyueth.
24 Und das Weib sprach zu Elia: Nunmehr erkenne ich, daß du ein Mann Gottes bist, und daß das Wort Jehovas in deinem Munde Wahrheit ist.
And the womman seide to Elie, Now in this Y haue knowe, that thou art the man of God, and the word of God is soth in thi mouth.
