1 Issi gallas qaraxa shiishizaytine nagaranchati wuri Yesussappe siyanas iza achch shiiqqida.
Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming close to him to hear him.
2 Farsawetinne Xaafeti “ha addey nagaranchata ixxenna, istarakka mees” giidi ba garssan zigiretida.
The Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, “This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them.”
3 Yesussaykka istas leemuso hiz gi yoottides
He told them this parable:
4 “Inte giddofe issi uras xeetu dorssi diikko he xeetu dorssatape issina dhaykko atidda uddufun tammanne uddufunata denbban yeggidi dhayidayssa demmna gakanas koyana bonttay oonee?
“Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep and lost one of them, wouldn’t leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?
5 Demmida wode ufaysara hashen tookki ekkidi
When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 beso simmes, ba laggetanne guta asata issi bolla xeeyggidi (dhayida ta dorssiyo demmadis tanara issife ufa7etite) gandes.
When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbours, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’
7 Ta intes yootays (hessathokka maaroteth koshonta uddufun tammanne uddufun xillotappe maaretethan geliza issi nagaranchan salon ufayssa gidana.” )
I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.
8 Woyko issi tamu bira santimey diza maccashiya he tamappe issiniyadhaykko xomppe oythada demmna gakanas keeththa gars pitada lo7etha koyonta maccash oonee?
“Or what woman, if she had ten drachma coins, if she lost one drachma coin, wouldn’t light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?
9 Izakka demmida wode ba laggetanne ba gutata issife xeeyggada “tappe dhayida bira santimeyo demmida gish tanara issife ufa7etite” gandus.
When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbours, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost!’
10 Ta intes yootays “hessathokka maarotan geliza issi nagarancha uran Xoossa kiitanchata achchan ufays gidana”
Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting.”
11 Qassekka Yesussay asatas hizgides “issi uras nam77u nayti deetes.
He said, “A certain man had two sons.
12 Istappekka kaalo naazi ba aawa (aabo! nees diza miishshafe ta gish taas imma) gides. Aawaykka bees diza miishsha ba naytas gishides.”
The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of your property.’ So he divided his livelihood between them.
13 Daro wode gam7onta dishe kaalo naazi ba miishsha wursi shiishshi ekkidi haho biitta biddes. Heenka bees diza miishsha go7ay bayndda coo mela dhaysides.
Not many days after, the younger son gathered all of this together and travelled into a far country. There he wasted his property with riotous living.
14 Izikka bees dizaysa wursi wursidappe guyyen he biittan iita koshay denddini daro waaydes.
When he had spent all of it, there arose a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in need.
15 Hessa gish he dereni diza asappe issaadekko shiiqidees. He uraykka ba guddunth heemana mala gudduntha heemizasso yeddides.
He went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.
16 Naazikka guddunthati miza harqqo maanaas amottides, shin hessakka immizaddey baa.
He wanted to fill his belly with the pods that the pigs ate, but no one gave him any.
17 Gido attin iza wozinay simmida wode “ta aawa ashkkaratappe aappunappe kath tirpize shin tani hayssan gafan hayqqana matadinaa?
But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough to spare, and I’m dying with hunger!
18 Denddada ta aawa so baada (aabo! salon Xoossa: biittan nena ta qohadis.”)
I will get up and go to my father, and will tell him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight.
19 Haysappe guye “ta nena geetistada xeeyggistanas taas beesena: ne ashkkaratappe issa mala tana taybba” gides.
I am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants.”’
20 Hessa gish dendidi ba aawakko biddes. gido attin buroo izi hahora yishin aaway beyidi michchettidinne izakko woxxi biiddi idimi oykkidi yerides.
“He arose and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, and ran, fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 Naazikka “aabo salon Xoossa, biittan nena ta qohadis, hayssafe guyyen ta ne na geetistada xeeyggistanas taas beesena” gides.
The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22 Gido attin aaway ashkkaratas eesottidi wursofe doorettida mayo ehidi mayzite iza biradhdhen yiichi, iza tohonkka caamma aathite.
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.
23 Modhdho mirgo ehidi shukkite, miidi ufa7etos.
Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let’s eat and celebrate;
24 Haysi ta nay hayqqides shin paxides dhaydes shin beettides gides, hessafe guyyen ufa7eteth oykkida.
for this, my son, was dead and is alive again. He was lost and is found.’ Then they began to celebrate.
25 Haysi hanniza wode bayra naazi goshsha son dees, heepekka simmidi so matida wode diitha durus siyides.
“Now his elder son was in the field. As he came near to the house, he heard music and dancing.
26 Izika ashkkaratappe issa xeeyggidi “hessi aazzee?” gi oychchides.
He called one of the servants to him and asked what was going on.
27 Ashkaarazikka “ne ishay yides, izi saronne lo7ooni simmida gish ne aaway handadho mirgo shukides” gides.
He said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and healthy.’
28 Bayra ishazikka hanqqettidi so gelanaskka koybeynna. Aawaykka kare kezidi izi so gelana mala woosides.
But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and begged him.
29 Gido attin izikka zaaridi aawas “hekko tani hayssa gakanas nees aylle mala oothadis, azazoppe isinokka pacisabeyke, gido attin ne ta laggetara ufa7istana mala issi deyshsha laaqqakka imabeyka,
But he answered his father, ‘Behold, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed a commandment of yours, but you never gave me a goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.
30 Gido attin haysi ne naazi nees dizaysa wursi laymatizaytara wursidi yishin handadho mirgo izas shukkadasa” gides
But when this your son came, who has devoured your living with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’
31 Awaykka “ta nazo ne wurso wode tanara daassa, taas gididay wurikka neessa.
“He said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.
32 Haysi ne ishay hayqqides shin paxides dhaydes shin beettides, hessa gish nuni ufa7istanas besses” gides.
But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.’”
