Psaumes 37
1 Psaume par David lui-même.
[A Psalm] of David. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2 Parce que, comme le foin, ils sécheront en un instant, et comme les herbes légumineuses, ils tomberont promptement.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3 Espère dans le Seigneur, et fais le bien: et tu habiteras la terre, et tu seras rassasié de ses richesses.
Trust in the LORD, and do good; [so] shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Mets tes délices dans le Seigneur, et il t’accordera ce que ton cœur demande.
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Révèle au Seigneur ta voie, espère en lui, et lui fera selon tes désirs.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.
6 Il fera éclater ta justice comme une lumière, et ton droit comme les splendeurs du midi.
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Sois soumis au Seigneur, et prie-le. Ne rivalise pas avec celui qui prospère dans sa voie, avec l’homme qui commet des injustices.
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8 Renonce à la colère et laisse la fureur: ne rivalise pas avec les méchants pour faire le mal.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9 Parce que ceux qui font le mal seront exterminés; mais ceux qui attendent avec constance le Seigneur, ceux-là même hériteront de la terre.
For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
10 Encore un peu de temps, et le pécheur ne sera plus: et tu chercheras son lieu, et tu ne le trouveras pas.
For yet a little while, and the wicked [shall] not [be: ] yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it [shall] not [be].
11 Mais les hommes doux hériteront de la terre, et ils jouiront d’une abondance de paix.
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12 Le pécheur observera le juste, et il grincera des dents contre lui.
The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
13 Mais le Seigneur se rira de lui, parce qu’il voit que viendra son jour.
The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
14 Les pécheurs ont tiré le glaive: ils ont tendu leur arc, Afin de renverser un pauvre et un homme sans ressource, afin de tuer les hommes droits de cœur.
The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, [and] to slay such as be of upright conversation.
15 Que leur glaive entre dans leur cœur à eux-mêmes, et que leur arc soit brisé.
Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
16 Mieux vaut au juste un bien modique, que de grandes richesses de méchants.
A little that a righteous man hath [is] better than the riches of many wicked.
17 Parce que les bras des impies se sont rompus; mais le Seigneur affermit les justes.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
18 Le Seigneur connaît les jours des hommes sans tache: leur héritage sera éternel.
The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
19 Ils ne seront point confondus dans un temps mauvais, et dans des jours de famine, ils seront rassasiés,
They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
20 Parce que les pécheurs périront. Mais les ennemis de Dieu, honorés et exaltés un moment comme une fumée, s’évanouiront entièrement.
But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD [shall be] as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
21 Le pécheur empruntera et ne payera pas; mais le juste est compatissant, et il donnera.
The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
22 Car ceux qui bénissent le Seigneur hériteront de la terre, mais ceux qui le maudissent périront sans ressource.
For [such as be] blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and [they that be] cursed of him shall be cut off.
23 C’est par le Seigneur que les pas de l’homme seront dirigés: et c’est lui qui favorisera ses voies.
The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
24 Lorsqu’il tombera, il ne sera point brisé: parce que le Seigneur met sa main sous lui.
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth [him with] his hand.
25 J’ai été jeune et j’ai vieilli; et je n’ai point vu le juste abandonné, ni sa race cherchant du pain.
I have been young, and [now] am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26 Tout le jour il a pitié et il prête; sa race sera en bénédiction.
[He is] ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed [is] blessed.
27 Détourne-toi du mal et fais le bien, et tu auras une demeure dans les siècles des siècles.
Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
28 Car le Seigneur aime la justice, et il ne délaissera pas ses saints: ils seront conservés éternellement. Les injustes seront punis, et la race des impies périra.
For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 Mais les justes hériteront de la terre; et ils y habiteront dans les siècles des siècles.
The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
30 La bouche du juste s’exercera à célébrer la sagesse; et sa langue publiera la justice.
The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
31 La loi de Dieu est dans son cœur, ses pas ne chancelleront pas.
The law of his God [is] in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
32 Le pécheur considère le juste; et il cherche à le faire mourir.
The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
33 Mais le Seigneur ne le laissera pas dans ses mains; et il ne le condamnera pas quand on le jugera.
The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
34 Attends le Seigneur, et garde sa voie; et il t’exaltera, afin que tu prennes la terre en héritage: lorsque les pécheurs auront péri, tu le verras.
Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see [it].
35 J’ai vu l’impie exalté et élevé comme les cèdres du Liban.
I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
36 J’ai passé, et voilà qu’il n’était plus: je l’ai cherché, et son lieu n’a pas été trouvé.
Yet he passed away, and, lo, he [was] not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
37 Garde l’innocence, et aie les yeux sur l’équité: parce que une postérité est réservée à l’homme pacifique.
Mark the perfect [man], and behold the upright: for the end of [that] man [is] peace.
38 Mais les injustes périront entièrement tous ensemble; et la postérité des impies mourra.
But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 Mais le salut des justes vient du Seigneur; et il reste leur protecteur dans un temps de tribulation.
But the salvation of the righteous [is] of the LORD: [he is] their strength in the time of trouble.
40 Et le Seigneur les aidera et les délivrera: il les arrachera aux pécheurs, et il les sauvera, parce qu’ils ont espéré en lui.
And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
