1 Dans les jours de Joakim, Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, monta contre Juda, et Joakim lui fut assujetti durant trois ans; et ensuite il se révolta contre lui.

In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him.

2 Et le Seigneur envoya les voleurs des Chaldéens, les voleurs de Syrie, les voleurs de Moab et les voleurs des enfants d’Ammon, et il les envoya contre Juda pour l’exterminer, selon la parole que le Seigneur avait dite par ses serviteurs, les prophètes.

And Jehovah sent against him bands of the Chaldeans, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spake by his servants the prophets.

3 Or ceci arriva par la parole du Seigneur contre Juda, pour l’ôter de devant lui, à cause de tous les péchés que Manassé fit,

Surely at the commandment of Jehovah came this upon Judah, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did,

4 Et à cause du sang de l’innocent qu’il versa; car il remplit Jérusalem de sang innocent. C’est pour ce motif que le Seigneur ne voulut point se rendre propice.

and also for the innocent blood that he shed; for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood: and Jehovah would not pardon.

5 Mais le reste des actions de Joakim, et tout ce qu’il a fait, n’est-ce pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois de Juda? Et Joakim dormit avec ses pères;

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

6 Et Joachin, son fils, régna en sa place.

So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers; and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

7 Et le roi d’Egypte ne recommença plus à sortir de son pays; car le roi de Babylone avait emporté, depuis le torrent d’Egypte jusqu’au fleuve d’Euphrate, tout ce qui était au roi d’Egypte.

And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land; for the king of Babylon had taken, from the brook of Egypt unto the river Euphrates, all that pertained to the king of Egypt.

8 Joachin avait dix-huit ans lorsqu’il commença à régner, et il régna trois mois à Jérusalem: le nom de sa mère était Nohesta, fille d’Elnathan de Jérusalem.

Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign; and he reigned in Jerusalem three months: and his mother’s name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

9 Et il fit le mal devant le Seigneur, selon tout ce qu’avait fait son père.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that his father had done.

10 En ce temps-là les serviteurs de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, montèrent à Jérusalem, et la ville fut entourée de fortifications.

At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.

11 Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, vint aussi avec ses serviteurs pour l’attaquer.

And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came unto the city, while his servants were besieging it;

12 Et Joachin, roi de Juda, sortit vers le roi de Babylone, lui, sa mère, ses serviteurs, ses princes et ses eunuques; et le roi de Babylone le reçut la huitième année de son règne.

and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.

13 Et il emporta de Jérusalem tous les trésors de la maison du Seigneur, et les trésors de la maison du roi; et il brisa tous les vases d’or que Salomon, roi d’Israël, avait faits dans le temple du Seigneur, selon la parole du Seigneur.

And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold, which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of Jehovah, as Jehovah had said.

14 Et il transféra toute la ville de Jérusalem, tous les princes et tous les forts de l’armée, au nombre de dix mille, en captivité, et aussi tous les ouvriers et tous les lapidaires, et rien ne fut laissé, excepté les pauvres du peuple du pays.

And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths; none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.

15 Il transféra aussi à Babylone Joachin, la mère du roi, les femmes du roi, ses eunuques; et les juges du pays, il les emmena en captivité de Jérusalem à Babylone.

And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon; and the king’s mother, and the king’s wives, and his officers, and the chief men of the land, carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.

16 Il transféra encore tous les hommes vigoureux, au nombre de sept mille, les ouvriers et les lapidaires au nombre de mille, tous les hommes courageux et guerriers; et le roi de Babylone les emmena captifs à Babylone.

And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the smiths a thousand, all of them strong and apt for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.

17 Il établit, en la place de Joachin, Matthanias son oncle, et il lui imposa le nom de Sédécias.

And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, [Jehoiachin’s] father’s brother, king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

18 Sédécias avait vingt-un ans d’âge lorsqu’il commença à régner, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem: le nom de sa mère était Amital, fille de Jérémie, de Lobna.

Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

19 Et il fit le mal devant le Seigneur, selon tout ce qu’avait fait Joakim.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

20 Car le Seigneur s’irritait contre Jérusalem et contre Juda, jusqu’à ce qu’il les rejetât de devant sa face; et Sédécias se détacha du roi de Babylone.

For through the anger of Jehovah did it come to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
