1 Pierre 1
1 Pierre, apôtre de Jésus-Christ, aux étrangers de la dispersion dans le Pont, la Galatie, la Cappadoce, l’Asie et la Bithynie, élus,
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 Selon la prescience de Dieu le Père, pour être sanctifiés par l’Esprit, pour obéir et être arrosés du sang de Jésus-Christ: qu’en vous la grâce et la paix s’accroissent.
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3 Béni soit Dieu, le Père de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, qui, selon sa grande miséricorde, nous a régénérés pour une vive espérance, par la résurrection de Jésus-Christ d’entre les morts,
Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 Pour un héritage incorruptible, qui n’est pas souillé, qui ne peut se flétrir, réservé dans les cieux pour vous,
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Qui par la vertu de Dieu êtes gardés au moyen de la foi pour le salut qui doit être révélé à la fin des temps,
Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Où vous serez transportés de joie, bien qu’il faille maintenant que pour peu de jours vous soyez contristés par diverses tentations,
Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 Afin que l’épreuve de votre foi, beaucoup plus précieuse que l’or (qu’on éprouve par le feu), soit trouvée digne de louange, de gloire et d’honneur à la révélation de Jésus-Christ,
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Que vous aimez, quoique vous ne l’ayez point vu; en qui vous croyez sans le voir encore maintenant; or, croyant ainsi, vous tressaillirez d’une joie ineffable et glorifiée;
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see [him] not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Obtenant comme fin de votre foi le salut de vos âmes;
Receiving the end of your faith, [even] the salvation of [your] souls.
10 Salut qu’ont recherché et scruté les prophètes qui ont prédit la grâce que vous deviez recevoir.
Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace [that should come] unto you:
11 Et, comme ils cherchaient quel temps et quelles circonstances l’Esprit du Christ qui était en eux indiquait, en prédisant, les souffrances du Christ et les gloires qui devaient les suivre,
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 Il leur fut révélé que ce n’était pas pour eux-mêmes, mais pour vous, qu’ils étaient dispensateurs des choses qui vous sont annoncées maintenant par ceux qui vous ont évangélisés par l’Esprit-Saint envoyé du ciel, et que les anges désirent contempler.
Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13 C’est pourquoi, ayant ceint les reins de votre âme, et étant sobres, espérez entièrement en cette grâce qui vous est offerte pour la révélation de Jésus-Christ;
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 Comme des enfants d’obéissance, ne vous conformant pas aux anciens désirs de votre ignorance;
As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 Mais, comme celui qui vous a appelés est saint, vous aussi soyez saints dans toute votre conduite;
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Car il est écrit: Soyez saints, parce que moi je suis saint.
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17 Et, puisque vous invoquez comme Père celui qui, sans acception des personnes, juge selon les œuvres de chacun, vivez dans la crainte durant le temps de votre pèlerinage;
And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning [here] in fear:
18 Sachant que ce n’est point avec des choses corruptibles, de l’or ou de l’argent, que vous avez été rachetés des vaines pratiques que vous teniez de vos pères;
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers;
19 Mais par le sang précieux du Christ, comme d’un agneau sans tache et sans souillure,
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Déjà connu avant la fondation du monde, mais manifesté dans les derniers temps à cause de vous;
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Qui par lui croyez en Dieu, qui l’a ressuscité d’entre les morts, et lui a donné la gloire, afin que votre foi et votre espérance fussent en Dieu.
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Rendez vos âmes chastes par l’obéissance de la charité, par une dilection fraternelle; portez la plus grande attention à vous aimer les uns les autres d’un cœur simple;
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, [see that ye] love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Etant nés de nouveau, non d’une semence corruptible, mais incorruptible, par la parole du Dieu vivant et qui demeure éternellement. (aiōn g165)
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. (aiōn g165)
24 Car toute chair est comme l’herbe, et toute sa gloire comme la fleur de l’herbe; l’herbe a séché, et sa fleur est tombée.
For all flesh [is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
