Psaumes 94
1 Dieu des vengeances, ô Éternel, Dieu des vengeances, fais rayonner ta splendeur!
O God, in whose hands is punishment, O God of punishment, let your shining face be seen.
2 Lève-toi, juge de la terre. Châtie les orgueilleux comme ils le méritent!
Be lifted up, O judge of the earth; let their reward come to the men of pride.
3 Jusques à quand les méchants, ô Éternel, Jusques à quand les méchants triompheront-ils?
How long will sinners, O Lord, how long will sinners have joy over us?
4 Jusques à quand se répandront-ils en discours insolents. Et se glorifieront-ils, tous les ouvriers d'iniquité?
Words of pride come from their lips; all the workers of evil say great things of themselves.
5 Éternel, ils écrasent ton peuple. Et ils oppriment ton héritage.
Your people are crushed by them, O Lord, your heritage is troubled,
6 Ils tuent la veuve et l'étranger. Et ils mettent à mort les orphelins.
They put to death the widow and the guest, they take the lives of children who have no father;
7 Puis ils disent: «L'Éternel ne le voit pas; Le Dieu de Jacob n'y fait pas attention!»
And they say, Jah will not see it, the God of Jacob will not give thought to it.
8 Prenez garde, hommes stupides! Insensés, quand donc ferez-vous preuve d'intelligence?
Give your mind to my words, you who are without wisdom among the people; you foolish men, when will you be wise?
9 Celui qui a planté l'oreille n'entendra-t-il pas? Celui qui a formé l'oeil ne verra-t-il pas?
Has he by whom your ears were planted no hearing? or is he blind by whom your eyes were formed?
10 Celui qui châtie les nations ne punira-t-il pas. Lui qui enseigne aux hommes la science?
He who is the judge of the nations, will he not give men the reward of their acts, even he who gives knowledge to man?
11 L'Éternel connaît les pensées de l'homme: Il sait qu'elles sont vaines!
The Lord has knowledge of the thoughts of man, for they are only a breath.
12 Heureux, ô Éternel, l'homme que tu instruis, Et à qui tu enseignes ta loi,
Happy is the man who is guided by you, O Jah, and to whom you give teaching out of your law;
13 Pour le remplir de paix pendant les mauvais jours. Tandis que se creuse la tombe sous les pas du méchant!
So that you may give him rest from the days of evil, till a hole is made ready for the destruction of the sinners.
14 L'Éternel ne délaissera pas son peuple, Et il n'abandonnera pas son héritage.
The Lord will not give up his people, or take away his support from his heritage;
15 Ses jugements se montreront un jour conformes à la justice. Et tous ceux qui ont le coeur droit s'en réjouiront.
But decisions will again be made in righteousness; and they will be kept by all whose hearts are true.
16 Qui se lèvera pour moi contre les méchants? Qui prendra ma défense contre les ouvriers d'iniquité?
Who will give me help against the sinners? and who will be my support against the workers of evil?
17 Si l'Éternel n'eût été mon secours. Bientôt mon âme eût habité le séjour du silence.
If the Lord had not been my helper, my soul would quickly have gone down into death.
18 Quand je disais: «Mon pied chancelle» — Ta bonté, ô Éternel, m'a soutenu!
If I say, My foot is slipping; your mercy, O Lord, is my support.
19 Quand mon coeur était assiégé de soucis. Tes consolations ont réjoui mon âme.
Among all my troubled thoughts, your comforts are the delight of my soul.
20 Comment pourrais-tu te faire le complice des juges iniques, Qui commettent des crimes au nom de la loi?
What part with you has the seat of sin, which makes evil into a law?
21 Ils attaquent la vie du juste, Et ils condamnent le sang innocent.
They are banded together against the soul of the upright, to give decisions against those who have done no wrong.
22 Mais l'Éternel est ma haute retraite; Mon Dieu est le rocher où je trouve un refuge.
But the Lord is my safe resting-place; my God is the Rock where I am safe.
23 Il fera retomber sur eux leur crime, Et leur perversité même consommera leur ruine. Oui, l'Éternel, notre Dieu, les fera périr.
And he has made their evil designs come back on themselves, cutting them off in their sin; the Lord our God will put an end to them.
