Psaumes 107
1 Célébrez l'Éternel; car il est bon, Et sa miséricorde dure éternellement!
O give thanks to the LORD, for [he is] good; for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
2 Ainsi parleront les rachetés de l'Éternel, Ceux qu'il a rachetés de la main de l'oppresseur,
Let the redeemed of the LORD say [so], whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
3 Et qu'il a rassemblés de tous les pays, De l'Orient et de l'Occident, du Nord et du Midi.
And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
4 Ils erraient dans le désert, sur un chemin solitaire; Ils ne trouvaient aucune ville qui pût leur servir de refuge.
They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
5 Ils étaient affamés et altérés; Leur âme défaillait en eux.
Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6 Alors ils ont crié vers l'Éternel, dans leur détresse, Et il les a délivrés de leurs angoisses.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, [and] he delivered them out of their distresses.
7 Il les a conduits par le droit chemin, Jusque dans une ville qu'ils ont habitée.
And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
8 Qu'ils célèbrent donc la bonté de l'Éternel, Et ses miracles en faveur des enfants des hommes!
Oh that [men] would praise the LORD [for] his goodness, and [for] his wonderful works to the children of men!
9 Car il a rassasié l'âme altérée. Et comblé de biens l'âme affamée.
For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
10 D'autres habitaient dans les ténèbres Et dans l'ombre de la mort; Ils étaient captifs et gémissaient dans les chaînes,
Such as sit in darkness and in the shades of death, [being] bound in affliction and iron;
11 Pour avoir été rebelles aux paroles de Dieu, Et avoir méprisé le conseil du Très-Haut.
Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the Most High:
12 Il avait humilié leur coeur par la souffrance: Ils succombaient, sans que personne ne les secourût.
Therefore he brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and [there was] none to help.
13 Alors ils ont crié vers l'Éternel, dans leur détresse, Et il les a délivrés de leurs angoisses.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, [and] he saved them out of their distresses.
14 Il les a tirés des ténèbres et de l'ombre de la mort; Il a brisé leurs chaînes.
He brought them out of darkness and the shades of death, and broke their bands asunder.
15 Qu'ils célèbrent donc la bonté de l'Éternel, Et ses miracles en faveur des enfants des hommes!
Oh that [men] would praise the LORD [for] his goodness, and [for] his wonderful works to the children of men!
16 Car il a brisé les portes d'airain, Et rompu les barreaux de fer.
For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron asunder.
17 Insensés qu'ils étaient! Ils portaient la peine De leurs transgressions et de leurs iniquités;
Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
18 Ils avaient en horreur toute nourriture; Ils touchaient aux portes de la mort.
Their soul abhorreth all manner of food; and they draw near to the gates of death.
19 Alors ils ont crié vers l'Éternel, dans leur détresse, Et il les a délivrés de leurs angoisses.
Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble, he saveth them out of their distresses.
20 Il a envoyé sa parole; il les a guéris, Et il les a retirés de leurs tombeaux.
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered [them] from their destructions.
21 Qu'ils célèbrent donc la bonté de l'Éternel, Et ses miracles en faveur des enfants des hommes!
Oh that [men] would praise the LORD [for] his goodness, and [for] his wonderful works to the children of men!
22 Qu'ils offrent des sacrifices d'actions de grâces Et racontent ses oeuvres avec des chants de triomphe!
And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
23 Ceux qui descendent sur la mer, dans des navires. Et qui trafiquent sur les grandes eaux,
They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business on great waters;
24 Ceux-là voient les oeuvres de l'Éternel, Et ses merveilles dans les profondeurs de l'abîme.
These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.
25 Il parle, et il fait lever un vent de tempête, Qui soulève les vagues de la mer.
For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up its waves.
26 Ils montent aux cieux; ils descendent aux abîmes; Leur âme se fond d'angoisse.
They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.
27 Ils ensemencent des champs, et ils plantent des vignes, Qui portent des fruits abondants.
They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit's end.
28 Alors ils ont crié vers l'Éternel, dans leur détresse, Et il les a délivrés de leurs angoisses.
Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
29 Il fait succéder le calme à la tempête, Et les vagues s'apaisent.
He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves [of the sea] are still.
30 Ils se réjouissent de ce qu'elles sont calmées. Et Dieu les conduit au port qu'ils désiraient.
Then are they glad because they are quiet; so he bringeth them to their desired haven.
31 Qu'ils célèbrent donc la bonté de l'Éternel, Et ses miracles en faveur des enfants des hommes!
Oh that [men] would praise the LORD [for] his goodness, and [for] his wonderful works to the children of men!
32 Qu'ils l'exaltent dans l'assemblée du peuple! Qu'ils le louent dans le conseil des anciens!
Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
33 L'Éternel change les fleuves en désert, Les sources d'eau en un sol aride,
He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the water-springs into dry ground;
34 Et la terre fertile en lande salée, A cause de la méchanceté de ses habitants.
A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell in it.
35 Il change aussi le désert en étang, Et la terre aride en sources d'eau.
He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into water-springs.
36 Il y fait habiter ceux qui étaient affamés: Ils fondent une ville pour y demeurer.
And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;
37 Ils ensemencent des champs, et ils plantent des vignes, Qui portent des fruits abondants.
And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.
38 Dieu les bénit: ils deviennent très nombreux, Et il ne laisse pas diminuer leur bétail.
He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
39 D'autres sont amoindris et humiliés Par l'oppression, le malheur et la souffrance.
Again, they are diminished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.
40 L'Éternel répand le mépris sur les grands. Et les fait errer dans un désert sans route.
He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, [where there is] no way.
41 Mais il délivre de leur affliction les malheureux, Et rend leurs familles nombreuses Comme de grands troupeaux.
Yet he setteth the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.
42 A cette vue, les justes sont remplis de joie; Mais tous les injustes ont la bouche fermée.
The righteous shall see [it], and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
43 Que celui qui est sage prenne garde à ces choses. Et qu'il sache comprendre les bontés de l'Éternel!
Whoever [is] wise, and will observe these [things], even they shall understand the loving-kindness of the LORD.
