Psaumes 101

1 Psaume de David. Je veux chanter la bonté et la justice; C'est toi, ô Éternel, que je célébrerai.

Of David, a psalm. If kindness and justice I sing, making melody to you, Lord.

2 Je m'appliquerai à suivre la voie de l'intégrité. Quand viendras-tu à moi? Je donnerai l'exemple d'une conduite intègre. Au sein de ma famille.

I would look to the way that is blameless, and make it my own. Within my own house I would walk with an innocent heart.

3 Je chasserai de mon esprit toute pensée coupable. J'ai en horreur les actes d'iniquité: Ils n'ont aucun attrait pour moi.

I would never direct my eyes to a thing that is base. The impulse to stray I abhor it shall not cling to me.

4 Le coeur pervers s'éloignera de moi; Je ne connaîtrai point le mal.

Far from me be perverseness of heart, or kinship with evil.

5 J'anéantirai celui qui parle en secret contre son prochain. Je ne supporterai pas le regard hautain. Ni le coeur enflé d'orgueil.

Who slanders their neighbour in secret, I bring them to silence: haughty looks and proud hearts I will not abide.

6 J'aurai les yeux sur les fidèles du pays, Pour les faire demeurer avec moi. Celui qui marche dans l'intégrité, celui-là me servira.

I will favour the true in the land, they shall live in my court. Those who walk in a way that is blameless will be my attendant.

7 Celui qui use de tromperie n'habitera pas dans ma maison; Celui qui profère le mensonge Ne subsistera pas devant mes yeux.

No one will live in my house who practises guile. No one that speaks a lie will abide in my presence.

8 Chaque matin, je détruirai tous les méchants du pays, Afin que tous les ouvriers d'iniquité Disparaissent de la cité de l'Éternel.

Morn by morn I will wholly wipe out all the bad in the land, and cut off from the Lord’s own city all workers of evil.
