Marc 6
1 Jésus, étant parti de là, vint dans son pays, et ses disciples le suivirent.
And he went out from thence, and came into his own country, and his disciples follow him.
2 Quand le sabbat fut venu, il se mit à enseigner dans la synagogue; et la multitude qui l'écoutait était dans l'étonnement et disait: D'où cela lui vient-il? Quelle est cette sagesse qui lui est donnée, et comment de tels miracles se font-ils par ses mains?
And when the sabbath was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing [him] were astonished, saying, From whence hath this [man] these things? and what wisdom [is] this which is given to him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
3 N'est-ce pas le charpentier, le fils de Marie, le frère de Jacques, de Joses, de Jude et de Simon? Ses soeurs ne sont-elles pas ici parmi nous? Et il était pour eux une occasion de chute.
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judas, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
4 Mais Jésus leur dit: Un prophète n'est méprisé que dans son pays, dans sa parenté et dans sa maison.
But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, but in his own country, and among his own kindred, and in his own house.
5 Il ne put faire là aucun miracle, si ce n'est qu'il guérit un petit nombre de malades en leur imposant les mains;
And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick persons, and healed [them].
6 et il s'étonna de leur incrédulité. C'est ainsi qu'il parcourait, en enseignant, les villages des environs.
And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went around the villages teaching.
7 Alors il appela les Douze, et il commença à les envoyer deux à deux, en leur donnant pouvoir sur les esprits impurs.
And he calleth [to him] the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
8 Il leur ordonna de ne rien prendre pour la route, sauf un bâton; de n'avoir ni pain, ni sac, ni monnaie dans leur ceinture;
And commanded them that they should take nothing for [their] journey, save a staff only; no bag, no bread, no money in [their] purse:
9 de ne prendre pour chaussures que des sandales, et de ne pas emporter deux tuniques.
But [be] shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
10 Il leur disait: En quelque maison que vous entriez, demeurez-y jusqu'à ce que vous partiez.
And he said to them, In whatever place ye enter into a house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
11 Et si, dans quelque endroit, on ne veut ni vous recevoir ni vous écouter, sortez de là, et secouez la poussière attachée à vos pieds, en témoignage contre les habitants.
And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence shake off the dust under your feet, for a testimony against them. Verily I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.
12 Étant donc partis, ils prêchèrent la repentance.
And they went out and preached that men should repent.
13 Ils chassaient beaucoup de démons, ils oignaient d'huile beaucoup de malades, et ils les guérissaient.
And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed [them].
14 Or, le roi Hérode entendit parler de Jésus, — dont le nom était devenu célèbre. — Et il disait: Ce Jean qui baptisait est ressuscité des morts; et c'est pour cela qu'il s'opère des miracles par son moyen.
And king Herod heard [of him] (for his name was spread abroad: ) and he said, That John the Baptist had risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him.
15 D'autres disaient: C'est Élie; et d'autres disaient: C'est un prophète, pareil à l'un des anciens prophètes.
Others said, That it is Elijah. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
16 Mais Hérode, l'ayant appris, disait: C'est ce Jean que j'ai fait décapiter: il est ressuscité!
But when Herod heard [of him], he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he hath risen from the dead.
17 En effet, ce même Hérode avait envoyé prendre Jean; il l'avait fait enchaîner et mettre en prison, à cause d'Hérodias, femme de Philippe, son frère, parce qu'il l'avait épousée,
For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.
18 et que Jean lui avait dit: Il ne t'est pas permis d'avoir la femme de ton frère.
For John had said to Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.
19 Aussi Hérodias était-elle remplie de haine contre Jean, et elle désirait le faire mourir. Mais elle ne le pouvait pas;
Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:
20 car Hérode craignait Jean, sachant que c'était un homme juste et saint. Il veillait sur lui; il était souvent troublé après l'avoir entendu, et il l'écoutait volontiers.
For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just and holy man, and observed him: and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
21 Mais il se présenta un jour favorable: Hérode donna un festin, pour l'anniversaire de sa naissance, aux grands de sa cour, à ses officiers et aux principaux de la Galilée.
And when a convenient day had come, that Herod on his birth-day made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief [men] of Galilee;
22 La fille même d'Hérodias, étant entrée, dansa, et elle plut à Hérode et à ses convives. Le roi dit à la jeune fille: Demande-moi ce que tu veux, et je te le donnerai.
And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod, and them that sat with him, the king said to the damsel, Ask of me whatever thou wilt, and I will give [it] thee.
23 Il lui fit aussi ce serment: Tout ce que tu demanderas, je te le donnerai, quand ce serait la moitié de mon royaume!
And he swore to her, Whatever thou shalt ask of me, I will give [it] thee, to the half of my kingdom.
24 Étant sortie, elle dit à sa mère: Que demanderai-je? Celle-ci lui répondit: La tête de Jean-Baptiste.
And she went forth, and said to her mother, What shall I ask? and she said, The head of John the Baptist.
25 Aussitôt elle s'empressa de rentrer chez le roi, et elle lui fit sa demande, en disant: Je veux qu'à l'instant même, tu me donnes, sur un plat, la tête de Jean-Baptiste.
And she came in forthwith with haste to the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou shouldst give me, immediately, in a dish, the head of John the Baptist.
26 Le roi en fut fort attristé; mais, à cause de ses serments et des convives, il ne voulut pas lui opposer un refus.
And the king was exceeding sorry: [yet] for his oath's sake, and for their sakes who sat with him, he would not reject her.
27 Il envoya aussitôt l'un de ses gardes, avec l'ordre d'apporter la tête de Jean. Cet homme alla décapiter Jean dans la prison;
And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28 il apporta la tête sur un plat, la donna à la jeune fille, et la jeune fille la donna à sa mère.
And brought his head in a dish, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.
29 Les disciples de Jean l'ayant appris, vinrent et emportèrent son corps; et ils le mirent dans un tombeau.
And when his disciples heard [of it], they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.
30 Les apôtres se rassemblèrent auprès de Jésus, et ils lui racontèrent tout ce qu'ils avaient fait et enseigné.
And the apostles assembled themselves to Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
31 Il leur dit: Venez à l'écart, dans un lieu désert, et prenez un peu de repos. En effet, allait et venait tant de monde, qu'ils n'avaient pas même le temps de manger.
And he said to them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
32 Ils partirent donc dans la barque pour se retirer à l'écart, dans un lieu désert.
And they departed into a desert place in a boat privately.
33 Mais plusieurs les virent s'éloigner et les reconnurent; de toutes les villes le peuple accourut à pied là où ils se rendaient, et il y arriva avant eux.
And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran on foot thither out of all cities, and out went them, and came together to him.
34 Alors Jésus, étant sorti de la barque, vit une grande multitude, et il fut ému de compassion pour eux, parce qu'ils étaient comme des brebis qui n'ont point de berger; puis il se mit à leur enseigner beaucoup de choses.
And Jesus, when he came out, saw many people, and was moved with compassion towards them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
35 Comme l'heure était déjà avancée, ses disciples s'approchèrent de lui et lui dirent: Ce lieu est désert, et l'heure est déjà avancée;
And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came to him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time [is] far passed:
36 renvoie-les, afin qu'ils aillent dans les campagnes et les villages des environs, pour s'acheter de quoi manger.
Send them away, that they may go into the country around, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.
37 Il leur répondit: Donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger. Ils lui dirent! Irons-nous acheter pour deux cents deniers de pain, afin de leur donner à manger?
He answered and said to them, Give ye them to eat. And they say to him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
38 Il leur répondit: Combien avez-vous de pains? Allez et voyez. Ils s'en assurèrent et lui dirent: Cinq pains et deux poissons.
He saith to them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.
39 Alors il leur commanda de les faire tous asseoir, par groupes, sur l'herbe verte.
And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.
40 Et ils s'assirent par rangées, par centaines et par cinquantaines.
And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.
41 Jésus prit les cinq pains et les deux poissons; et, levant les yeux au ciel, il rendit grâces, rompit les pains et les donna à ses disciples pour les offrir à la foule; il leur partagea aussi les deux poissons.
And when he had taken the five loaves, and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and broke the loaves, and gave [them] to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes he divided among them all.
42 Tous mangèrent et furent rassasiés;
And they all ate, and were satisfied.
43 et on emporta douze paniers pleins de morceaux de pain, avec ce qui restait des poissons.
And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
44 Or, ceux qui avaient mangé étaient au nombre de cinq mille hommes.
And they that ate of the loaves, were about five thousand men.
45 Aussitôt après, Jésus obligea ses disciples à entrer dans la barque et à passer avant lui sur l'autre rive, vers Beth-saïda, pendant qu'il renverrait le peuple.
And immediately he constrained his disciples to get into the boat, and to go to the other side before to Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
46 Après l'avoir renvoyé, il s'en alla sur la montagne pour prier.
And when he had dismissed them, he departed to a mountain to pray.
47 Quand le soir fut venu, la barque était au milieu de la mer, et Jésus était seul à terre.
And when evening was come, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
48 Et il vit qu'ils avaient beaucoup de peine à ramer, parce que le vent leur était contraire. Vers la quatrième veille de la nuit, il vint à eux, marchant sur la mer; et il voulait les devancer.
And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary to them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh to them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
49 Quand ils le virent marcher sur la mer, ils crurent que c'était un fantôme, et ils jetèrent des cris;
But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out.
50 car tous l'avaient vu, et ils en étaient troublés. Mais aussitôt il leur parla et leur dit: Rassurez-vous c'est moi, n'ayez point de peur!
(For they all saw him, and were troubled.) And immediately he talked with them, and saith to them, Be of good cheer: It is I; be not afraid.
51 Alors il monta auprès d'eux dans la barque, et le vent s'apaisa. Ils furent encore plus saisis d'étonnement;
And he went up to them into the boat; and the wind ceased: and they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
52 Car ils n'avaient pas compris le miracle des pains, parce que leur cœur était endurci.
For they considered not [the miracle] of the loaves; for their heart was hardened.
53 Quand ils eurent traversé la mer, ils vinrent au pays de Génézareth, et ils abordèrent.
And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
54 Dès qu'ils furent sortis de la barque, les gens reconnurent Jésus:
And when they had come out of the boat forthwith they knew him,
55 ils parcoururent toute la contrée, et ils se mirent à apporter sur leurs lits ceux qui étaient malades, partout où ils entendaient dire que Jésus se trouvait.
And ran through that whole region around, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
56 Et dans tous les endroits où il arrivait, villages, villes ou campagnes, on mettait les malades sur les places publiques, et on le priait de leur permettre de toucher au moins le bord de son vêtement; et tous ceux qui le touchaient étaient guéris.
And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch, if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him, were healed.
