Luc 7
1 Après que Jésus eut achevé de prononcer toutes ces paroles devant le peuple qui l'écoutait, il entra dans Capernaüm.
Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2 Or, un centenier avait un serviteur malade et près de mourir, qui lui était très cher.
And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick, and ready to die.
3 Ayant entendu parler de Jésus, il lui envoya quelques anciens des Juifs, pour le prier de venir guérir son serviteur.
And when he heard of Jesus, he sent to him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
4 Ceux-ci, étant arrivés auprès de Jésus, le priaient avec instance, en disant: Il est digne que tu lui accordes cela;
And when they came to Jesus, they besought him earnestly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
5 car il aime notre nation, et c'est lui qui nous a fait bâtir la synagogue.
For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.
6 Alors Jésus s'en alla avec eux. Comme il approchait déjà de la maison, le centenier envoya des amis, pour lui dire: Seigneur, ne te donne pas tant de peine; car je ne mérite pas que tu entres sous mon toit.
Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof;
7 Aussi ne me suis-je pas même jugé digne d'aller auprès de toi; mais dis une parole, et mon serviteur sera guéri.
Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come to thee; but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
8 Car moi-même, qui suis un homme soumis à la puissance d'autrui, j'ai sous mes ordres des soldats. Je dis à l'un: Va! Et il va; et à l'autre! Viens! Et il vient; et à mon serviteur: Fais cela! Et il le fait.
For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say to one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth [it].
9 Jésus, ayant entendu ces paroles, admira le centenier; et, se tournant vers la foule qui le suivait, il dit: Je vous le déclare, même en Israël je n'ai pas trouvé une aussi grande foi.
When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned himself about and said to the people that followed him, I say to you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
10 Et les envoyés, de retour à la maison, trouvèrent le serviteur en bonne santé.
And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well that had been sick.
11 Le jour suivant, Jésus allait à une ville appelée Nain, et plusieurs de ses disciples et une grande foule faisaient route avec lui.
And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain: and many of his disciples went with him, and many people.
12 Comme il approchait de la porte de la ville, voici qu'on emportait un mort, fils unique de sa mère qui était veuve; et il y avait avec elle un grand nombre de gens de la ville.
Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and many people of the city were with her.
13 Le Seigneur, l'ayant vue, fut touché de compassion pour elle, et il lui dit: Ne pleure pas!
And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, Weep not.
14 Puis, s'étant approché, il toucha le cercueil, et ceux qui le portaient s'arrêtèrent. Alors il dit: Jeune homme, je te l'ordonne, lève-toi!
And he came and touched the bier: And they that bore [him] stood still. And he said, Young man, I say to thee, Arise.
15 Le mort se mit sur son séant et commença à parler. Et Jésus le rendit à sa mère.
And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak, and he delivered him to his mother.
16 La crainte les saisit tous, et ils glorifiaient Dieu en disant: Un grand prophète s'est levé parmi nous, et Dieu a visité son peuple.
And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet hath risen among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
17 Le bruit s'en répandit dans toute la Judée et dans tout le pays environnant.
And this rumor of him went forth throughout all Judea, and throughout all the neighboring region.
18 Les disciples de Jean lui rapportèrent toutes ces choses.
And the disciples of John informed him of all these things.
19 Alors il appela deux de ses disciples et les envoya dire au Seigneur: Es-tu celui qui doit venir, ou devons-nous en attendre un autre?
And John calling two of his disciples sent [them] to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
20 Ces hommes, étant arrivés auprès de Jésus, lui dirent: Jean-Baptiste nous a envoyés vers toi pour te dire: Es-tu celui qui doit venir, ou devons-nous en attendre un autre?
When the men had come to him, they said, John the Baptist hath sent us to thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
21 Or, à cette heure même, Jésus guérit plusieurs personnes de maladies, d'infirmités et de malins esprits, et il rendit la vue à plusieurs aveugles.
And in that same hour he cured many of [their] infirmities, and diseases, and of evil spirits; and to many [that were] blind he gave sight.
22 Puis il répondit: Allez rapporter à Jean ce que vous avez vu et entendu: les aveugles recouvrent la vue, les boiteux marchent, les lépreux sont nettoyés, les sourds entendent, les morts ressuscitent, l'Évangile est annoncé aux pauvres.
Then Jesus answering, said to them, Go, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; that the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
23 Heureux celui pour qui je ne serai pas une occasion de chute!
And blessed is [he], to whom I shall not be a stumbling block.
24 Quand les messagers de Jean furent partis, Jésus se mit à parler de Jean à la foule, et dit: Qu'êtes-vous allés voir au désert? Un roseau agité par le vent?
And when the messengers of John had departed, he began to speak to the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
25 Encore une fois, qu'êtes-vous allés voir? Un homme vêtu d'habits somptueux? Mais ceux qui portent des vêtements magnifiques et qui vivent dans les délices sont dans les palais des rois!
But what went ye out to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they who are gorgeously appareled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.
26 Mais enfin, qu'êtes-vous allés voir? Un prophète? Oui, vous dis-je, et plus qu'un prophète.
But what went ye out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and much more than a prophet.
27 C'est celui dont il est écrit: «Je vais envoyer mon messager devant ta face, et il préparera ton chemin devant toi.»
This is [he], concerning whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.
28 Je vous le dis, entre ceux qui sont nés de femme, il n'y en a point de plus grand que Jean-Baptiste; toutefois, celui qui est le plus petit dans le royaume de Dieu est plus grand que lui.
For I say to you, Among those that are born of women, there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God, is greater than he.
29 Et tout le peuple qui l'a entendu, ainsi que les péagers, ont justifié Dieu, en se faisant baptiser du baptême de Jean.
And all the people that heard [him], and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.
30 Mais les pharisiens et les docteurs de la loi, en ne se faisant pas baptiser par lui, ont rejeté le dessein de Dieu à leur égard.
But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized by him.
31 A qui donc comparerai-je les hommes de cette génération, et à qui ressemblent-ils?
And the Lord said, To what then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?
32 Ils ressemblent à des enfants assis sur la place publique, et qui se disent les uns aux autres: Nous vous avons joué de la flûte, et vous n'avez pas dansé; nous avons chanté des complaintes, et vous n'avez pas pleuré.
They are like children sitting in the market-place, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped to you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.
33 En effet, Jean-Baptiste est venu, ne mangeant pas de pain et ne buvant pas de vin; et vous dites: Il a un démon.
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread, nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon.
34 Le Fils de l'homme est venu, mangeant et buvant; et vous dites: Voilà un mangeur et un buveur, un ami des péagers et des pécheurs!
The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a gluttonous man, and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners.
35 Mais la sagesse a été justifiée par tous ses enfants.
But wisdom is justified by all her children.
36 L'un des pharisiens pria Jésus de prendre un repas chez lui. Étant donc entré dans la maison du pharisien, Jésus se mit à table.
And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down at table.
37 Or, voici qu'une femme de la ville, qui était de mauvaise vie, ayant appris qu'il était à table dans la maison du pharisien, apporta un vase d'albâtre plein de parfum.
And behold, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, when she knew that [Jesus] sat at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster-box of ointment,
38 Et, se tenant en arrière, aux pieds de Jésus, en pleurant, elle se mit à lui arroser les pieds de ses larmes et à les essuyer avec ses cheveux; elle lui baisait les pieds et les oignait avec le parfum.
And stood at his feet behind [him] weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and wiped [them] with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed [them] with the ointment.
39 Le pharisien qui avait invité Jésus, voyant cela, dit en lui-même: Si cet homme était prophète, il saurait qui est cette femme qui le touche, et que c'est une femme de mauvaise vie.
Now when the Pharisee who had invited him, saw [it], he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who, and what manner of woman [this is] that toucheth him, for she is a sinner.
40 Alors Jésus, prenant la parole, lui dit: Simon, j'ai quelque chose à te dire. Simon lui répondit: Maître, parle!
And Jesus answering, said to him, Simon, I have somewhat to say to thee. And he saith, Master, speak.
41 Un créancier avait deux débiteurs: l'un lui devait cinq cents deniers, l'autre cinquante.
There was a certain creditor, who had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 Et comme ils n'avaient pas de quoi payer, il leur remit à tous deux leur dette. Lequel des deux l'aimera le plus?
And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simon répondit: J'estime que c'est celui à qui il a le plus remis. Jésus lui dit: Tu as bien jugé.
Simon answered and said, I suppose that [he], to whom he forgave most. And he said to him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44 Puis se tournant vers la femme, il dit à Simon: Tu vois cette femme? Je suis entré dans ta maison. et tu ne m'as pas donné d'eau pour mes pieds; mais elle les a arrosés de ses larmes et les a essuyés avec ses cheveux.
And he turned to the woman, and said to Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thy house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped [them] with the hairs of her head.
45 Tu ne m'as pas donné de baiser; mais elle, depuis qu'elle est entrée, n'a cessé de me baiser les pieds.
Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman, since the time I came in, hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 Tu n'as pas oint ma tête d'huile; mais elle a oint mes pieds de parfum.
My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47 C'est pourquoi, je te le déclare, ses péchés, qui sont en grand nombre, lui sont pardonnés; car elle a beaucoup aimé. Mais celui à qui on pardonne peu, aime peu.
Wherefore I say to thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little.
48 Puis il dit à la femme: Tes péchés te sont pardonnés.
And he said to her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49 Ceux qui étaient à table avec lui se mirent à dire en eux-mêmes: Quel est celui-ci, qui même pardonne les péchés?
And they that sat at table with him, began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50 Mais il dit à la femme: Ta foi t'a sauvée; va en paix.
And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
