1 Jean 4
1 Mes bien-aimés, ne vous fiez pas à tout esprit; mais éprouvez les esprits, pour savoir s'ils viennent de Dieu; car plusieurs faux prophètes ont paru dans le monde.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2 Et voici comment vous reconnaîtrez l'Esprit de Dieu: tout esprit qui confesse Jésus-Christ venu en chair, est de Dieu;
By this ye know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ hath come in the flesh, is from God:
3 et tout esprit qui ne confesse pas Jésus, n'est pas de Dieu. C'est là l'esprit de l'Antéchrist, dont vous avez entendu annoncer la venue; et déjà maintenant il est dans le monde.
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not from God. And this is that [spirit] of antichrist, of which ye have heard that it should come; and even now already it is in the world.
4 Pour vous, mes petits enfants, vous êtes venus de Dieu, et vous avez vaincu ces faux prophètes, parce que celui qui est en vous, est plus grand que celui qui est dans le monde.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 Ils sont du monde; voilà pourquoi ils parlent selon le monde, et le monde les écoute.
They are of the world: therefore they speak from the world, and the world heareth them.
6 Nous, nous sommes de Dieu: celui qui connaît Dieu, nous écoute; celui qui n'est point de Dieu ne nous écoute pas. C'est par là que nous reconnaissons l'esprit de vérité et l'esprit d'erreur.
We are of God. He that knoweth God, heareth us; he that is not of God, heareth not us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7 Mes bien-aimés, aimons-nous les uns les autres; car l'amour vient de Dieu, et quiconque aime, est né de Dieu et connaît Dieu.
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is from God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 Celui qui n'aime pas, n'a pas connu Dieu; car Dieu est amour.
He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 L'amour de Dieu pour nous a été manifesté en ceci: Dieu a envoyé son Fils unique dans le monde, afin que nous ayons la vie par lui.
In this was manifested the love of God towards us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Voici en quoi consiste l'amour: ce n'est pas nous qui avons aimé Dieu, mais c'est lui qui nous a aimés, et qui a envoyé son Fils comme victime de propitiation pour nos péchés.
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins.
11 Mes bien-aimés, si Dieu nous a ainsi aimés, nous aussi nous devons nous aimer les uns les autres.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 Personne n'a jamais vu Dieu; si nous nous aimons les uns les autres, Dieu demeure en nous, et son amour est parfait en nous.
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 A ceci nous connaissons que nous demeurons en lui et lui en nous, c'est qu'il nous a donné de son Esprit.
By this we know that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 Et nous avons vu, et nous rendons témoignage que le Père a envoyé le Fils pour être le Sauveur du monde.
And we have seen and do testify, that the Father sent the Son [to be] the Savior of the world.
15 Si quelqu'un confesse que Jésus est le Fils de Dieu, Dieu demeure en lui, et lui en Dieu.
Whoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 Et nous avons connu l'amour que Dieu a pour nous, et nous y avons cru. Dieu est amour; et celui qui demeure dans l'amour, demeure en Dieu, et Dieu demeure en lui.
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love: and he that dwelleth in love, dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17 Voici comment l'amour est accompli en nous, pour nous donner une pleine assurance au jour du jugement, c'est que tel Il est, tels nous sommes aussi dans ce monde.
In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 Il n'y a point de crainte dans l'amour, mais l'amour parfait bannit la crainte; car la crainte suppose le châtiment, et celui qui craint n'est pas parfait dans l'amour.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth, is not made perfect in love.
19 Nous aimons, parce qu'il nous a aimés le premier.
We love him, because he first loved us.
20 Si quelqu'un dit: J'aime Dieu, et si cet homme-là hait son frère, il est menteur; car celui'qui n'aime pas son frère qu'il voit, ne peut aimer Dieu qu'il ne voit pas.
If a man sayeth, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar. For he that loveth not his brother, whom he hath seen, how can he love God, whom he hath not seen?
21 Et nous avons reçu de lui ce commandement: Que celui qui aime Dieu aime aussi son frère.
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God, love his brother also.
