Jacques 5
1 Et maintenant à vous, les riches: Pleurez! Hurlez sur les malheurs qui vous attendent!
Go to now, ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you.
2 Vos richesses sont pourries! vos étoffes sont mangées aux vers!
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.
3 Votre argent et votre or sont tout rouillés! Cette rouille sera une preuve contre vous et, comme un feu, elle mangera vos chairs! C'est pendant les derniers jours que vous avez amassé vos trésors!
Your gold and your silver are rusted; and their rust shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have laid up your treasure in the last days.
4 Eh bien, le salaire des ouvriers qui ont moissonné vos campagnes et dont vous les avez frustrés, crie, et les voix des moissonneurs sont venues jusqu'aux oreilles du Seigneur des armées.
Behold, the hire of the labourers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
5 Vous avez vécu dans les délices sur la terre, vous avez joui, vous vous êtes repus et cela le jour même où vous allez être égorgés!
Ye have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure; ye have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter.
6 Vous avez condamné, vous avez assassiné le juste qui ne vous résistait pas!
Ye have condemned, ye have killed the righteous [one]; he doth not resist you.
7 Patientez donc, frères, jusqu'à l'apparition du Seigneur. Voyez l'agriculteur, il attend le précieux fruit de la terre, il patiente jusqu'à ce qu'il ait reçu les pluies d'automne et celles du printemps.
Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receive the early and latter rain.
8 Patientez, vous aussi; fortifiez vos coeurs, car l'apparition du Seigneur est prochaine.
Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
9 Ne vous plaignez pas les uns des autres, frères, pour ne pas être jugés. Voici le juge; il se tient à la porte.
Murmur not, brethren, one against another, that ye be not judged: behold, the judge standeth before the doors.
10 Prenez pour modèles, frères, dans la souffrance et dans la patience les prophètes qui ont parlé au nom du Seigneur.
Take, brethren, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spake in the name of the Lord.
11 Nous appelons heureux, voyez-vous, ceux qui ont tenu bon. Vous avez entendu parler de la constance de Job, et vous avez vu ce que le Seigneur lui a donné à la fin; car il est plein de compassion et de miséricorde.
Behold, we call them blessed which endured: ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord, how that the Lord is full of pity, and merciful.
12 Surtout, mes frères, ne prêtez pas de serment, ni par le ciel, ni par la terre, ni sous une forme quelconque. Dites seulement: oui, oui; ou: non, non; pour n'encourir aucun jugement.
But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by the heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath: but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay; that ye fall not under judgment.
13 Un de vous est-il dans la peine? qu'il prie. Un de vous est-il dans la joie? qu'il chante des psaumes.
Is any among you suffering? let him pray. Is any cheerful? let him sing praise.
14 Un de vous est-il malade? qu'il fasse appeler les Anciens de l'Église; que ceux-ci prient sur lui, après lui avoir fait une onction d'huile au nom du Seigneur;
Is any among you sick? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 et la prière faite avec foi sauvera le malade, le Seigneur le rétablira, et, s'il a commis des péchés, ils lui seront pardonnés.
and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.
16 Confessez-vous réciproquement vos péchés, et priez les uns pour les autres, afin que vous guérissiez; car la prière d'un juste est bien puissante quand elle est fervente.
Confess therefore your sins one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man availeth much in its working.
17 Élie était un homme aussi faible que nous tous, et il demanda dans une prière qu'il ne plût pas; et il ne plut pas sur la terre pendant trois ans et demi.
Elijah was a man of like passions with us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months.
18 Puis, quand il eut prié encore, le ciel donna de la pluie, et la terre fit germer ses fruits.
And he prayed again; and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
19 Mes frères, si l'un de vous s'est laissé égarer loin de la vérité,
My brethren, if any among you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
20 et qu'un autre le ramène, qu'il sache que celui qui ramène un pécheur du chemin où il se perd, sauvera une âme de la mort et couvrira un grand nombre de péchés.
let him know, that he which converteth a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.
