Psaumes 104
1 Mon âme, bénis l'Éternel! Éternel, mon Dieu, tu es très grand, tu es revêtu de splendeur et de majesté!
Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
2 Il s'enveloppe de lumière comme d'un vêtement, Il déploie les Cieux comme une tenture;
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
3 Il élève sur les eaux le haut de sa demeure, Il fait des nuées son char, Il s'avance sur les ailes du vent.
Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
4 Il fait des vents ses messagers, et ses ministres, du feu enflammé.
Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
5 Il assit la terre sur ses bases, elle est inébranlable pour toujours, pour jamais.
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
6 Tu l'avais couverte de l'abîme comme d'un manteau, les eaux se tenaient sur les montagnes;
Thou didst cover it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
7 à ta menace elles ont fui, à la voix de ton tonnerre elles ont reculé:
At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
8 les montagnes montèrent, les vallées descendirent à la place que tu leur assignas.
They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys to the place which thou hast founded for them.
9 Tu posas des limites qu'elles ne franchiraient plus, afin qu'elles ne vinssent plus recouvrir la terre.
Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
10 Tu fais jaillir des sources pour former les ruisseaux; ils s'écoulent entre les montagnes;
He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
11 ils abreuvent toutes les bêtes des champs, les onagres y étanchent leur soif.
They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 Sur leurs bords séjournent les oiseaux du ciel, entre les rameaux ils font entendre leur voix.
By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.
13 Du haut de sa demeure Il arrose les montagnes, et la terre se rassasie du fruit de tes œuvres.
He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
14 Il fait croître l'herbe pour les quadrupèdes, et les plantes pour le service de l'homme, tirant ainsi le pain du sein de la terre;
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
15 et le vin qui réjouit le cœur de l'homme, et, plus que l'huile, fait resplendir son visage; et le pain qui fortifie le cœur de l'homme.
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.
16 Les arbres de l'Éternel sont rassasiés, les cèdres du Liban qu'il a plantés,
The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
17 où viennent nicher les oiseaux, la cigogne, qui habite les pins.
Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.
18 Les hautes montagnes sont pour les bouquetins, et les rochers sont l'asile des gerboises.
The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.
19 Il créa la lune pour marquer les temps; le soleil connaît son couchant.
He appointeth the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
20 Tu fais l'obscurité, et il est nuit: alors toutes les bêtes des forêts sont en mouvement;
Thou makest darkness, and it is night: in which all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
21 les jeunes lions rugissent après la proie, et demandent à Dieu leur pâture.
The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God.
22 Le soleil se lève: ils se retirent, et vont reposer dans leurs tanières.
The sun ariseth, they withdraw, and lay themselves down in their dens.
23 L'homme se rend à son travail, et à son labour jusques au soir.
Man goeth forth to his work and to his labour until the evening.
24 Que tes œuvres sont nombreuses, ô Éternel! Tu les as toutes faites avec sagesse; la terre est pleine de tes richesses.
O LORD, how many are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
25 Dans cette mer grande et vaste fourmillent sans nombre des animaux petits et grands.
So is this great and wide sea, in which are creeping things innumerable, both small and great beasts.
26 Là circulent les navires, le Léviathan que tu formas pour s'y jouer.
There go the ships: there is that leviathan, which thou hast made to play in it.
27 Tous ils s'attendent à toi, pour que tu leur donnes la nourriture en son temps.
These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their food in due season.
28 Tu leur donnes, ils recueillent; tu ouvres ta main, ils se rassasient de biens.
That which thou givest them they gather: thou openest thy hand, they are filled with good.
29 Tu caches ta face, ils sont éperdus; tu leur retires le souffle, ils expirent et rentrent dans leur poudre.
Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
30 Tu émets ton souffle, ils sont créés, et tu renouvelles la face de la terre.
Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
31 La gloire de l'Éternel demeure à jamais; l'Éternel se réjouit de ses œuvres.
The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.
32 Il regarde la terre, et elle tremble; Il touche les montagnes, et elles sont fumantes.
He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
33 Je veux chanter l'Etemel, tant que je vivrai, célébrer mon Dieu, tant que je serai.
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
34 Que mes chants lui soient agréables! Je fais mes délices de l'Éternel.
My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
35 Que les pécheurs disparaissent de la terre, et que les impies cessent d'être! Mon âme, bénis l'Éternel! Alléluia!
Let sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
