Malachie 1

1 Prononcé de la parole de l'Éternel à Israël par Malachie.

The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.

2 Je vous ai aimés, dit l'Éternel. Et vous dites: « Où paraît ton amour pour nous? » Ésaü n'est-il pas frère de Jacob? dit l'Éternel;

I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? [Was] not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,

3 cependant j'ai aimé Jacob, et j'ai haï Ésaü et changé ses monts en désert, et son héritage en demeures de solitude.

And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

4 Qu'Édom dise: Nous sommes détruits, mais nous relèverons les ruines! Ainsi dit l'Éternel des armées: Qu'ils bâtissent, je démolirai, et leur nom sera Région de l'impiété, et Peuple livré au courroux de l'Éternel pour l'éternité.

Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.

5 Et vos yeux le verront et vous direz: Grand est l'Éternel par delà les confins d'Israël.

And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.

6 Un fils honore son père et un serviteur son seigneur. Or, si je suis père, où est l'honneur qui me vient, et si je suis Seigneur, où est la crainte qu'on a de moi? dit l'Éternel des armées à vous, sacrificateurs, contempteurs de mon nom! Vous dites: « En quoi sommes-nous contempteurs de ton nom? » –

A son honoureth [his] father, and a servant his master: if then I [be] a father, where [is] mine honour? and if I [be] a master, where [is] my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

7 En apportant sur mon autel un aliment profane. Et vous dites: « En quoi te profanons-nous? » – En disant: « La table de l'Éternel est à mépriser! »

Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD [is] contemptible.

8 Et quand vous apportez pour victime un animal aveugle, il n'y a point de mal à cela! Et quand vous en apportez un boiteux ou malade, il n'y a point de mal à cela! Offrez-le donc à votre gouverneur! vous agréera-t-il, ou aura-t-il égard à vous? dit l'Éternel des armées.

And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, [is it] not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, [is it] not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.

9 Et puis implorez donc Dieu, pour qu'il ait pitié de nous! Tels sont vos faits, et Il aurait égard à l'un de vous dit l'Éternel des armées.

And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith the LORD of hosts.

10 Que n'y a-t-il parmi vous quelqu'un qui ferme les portes, pour que vous n'allumiez plus le feu sur mon autel vainement! Je ne prends point plaisir à vous, dit l'Éternel des armées, et n'agrée aucune offrande de vos mains.

Who [is there] even among you that would shut the doors [for nought?] neither do ye kindle [fire] on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

11 Car du levant au couchant mon nom est grand parmi les nations, et en tout lieu l'encens est offert à mon nom, ainsi que des oblations pures; car grand est mon nom parmi les nations, dit l'Éternel désarmées.

For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name [shall be] great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense [shall be] offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name [shall be] great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.

12 Mais vous, vous le profanez, quand vous dites: La table de l'Éternel est souillée, et quant à son produit, la chère en est méprisable.

But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD [is] polluted; and the fruit thereof, [even] his meat, [is] contemptible.

13 Et vous dites: Voici, comme elle nous fatigue! et vous la dédaignez, dit l'Éternel des armées; et pourtant vous apportez de la rapine et des [victimes] boiteuses ou malades; telles sont les offrandes que vous apportez: les agréerai-je de vos mains? dit l'Éternel.

Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness [is it!] and ye have snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought [that which was] torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD.

14 Maudit le fourbe qui ayant dans son troupeau un mâle, voue et sacrifie au Seigneur une femelle défectueuse! car je suis un grand Roi, dit l'Éternel des armées, et mon nom est craint parmi les nations.

But cursed [be] the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a corrupt thing: for I [am] a great King, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name [is] dreadful among the heathen.
