Osée 9

1 Ne te réjouis pas, Israël, jusqu'à l'allégresse, comme les autres peuples; car tu es adultère, tu désertes ton Dieu; car tu aimes à recevoir le salaire de l'impudicité sur toutes les aires à blé.

Do not rejoice, Israel, with joy like the other peoples. For you have been unfaithful, forsaking your God. You love to pay the wages a prostitute requires on all the threshing floors.

2 Ni aire, ni pressoir ne les nourrira, et le moût trompera leur attente.

But the threshing floor and the winepress will not feed them; the new wine will fail them.

3 Ils ne resteront pas dans le pays de l'Éternel; Éphraïm doit retourner en Egypte, et manger en Assyrie des aliments immondes.

They will not continue to live in Yahweh's land; instead, Ephraim will return to Egypt, and one day they will eat unclean food in Assyria.

4 Ils ne feront plus à l'Éternel des libations de vin, et leurs victimes ne lui seront plus agréables; elles seront pour eux comme le pain du deuil: quiconque en mange se souille; car leur pain ne sera que pour eux, et n'entrera point dans la maison de l'Éternel.

They will pour out no wine offerings to Yahweh, neither will they be pleasing to him. Their sacrifices will be to them like mourners' food: all who eat it will be defiled. For their food will be for themselves only; it will not come into the house of Yahweh.

5 Que ferez-vous aux jours solennels, et aux jours des fêtes de l'Éternel?

What will you do on the day of an appointed festival, on the day of a festival for Yahweh?

6 Car voici, ils vont émigrer de leur pays dévasté, l'Egypte les recueillera, Memphis leur donnera la sépulture. De tout ce qu'ils ont de précieux en argent les orties s'empareront, et les ronces seront dans leurs cabanes.

For, look, if they escape from destruction, Egypt will gather them, and Memphis will bury them. As for their treasures of silver— sharp briers will possess them, and thorns will fill their tents.

7 Ils arrivent les jours du châtiment, ils arrivent les jours de la rétribution! Israël le saura! Le prophète est en démence, [dites-vous, ] l'homme inspiré en délire! C'est à cause de la grandeur de ton crime et de tous les actes odieux.

The days for punishment are coming; the days for retribution are coming. Let all Israel know these things. The prophet is a fool, and the inspired man is insane, because of your great iniquity and great hostility.

8 Éphraïm est aux aguets contre mon Dieu; le prophète rencontre un filet d'oiseleur sur toutes ses voies, la haine [le poursuit] dans la maison de son Dieu.

The prophet is the watchman for my God over Ephraim. But a bird snare is on all of his paths, and hostility toward him is in the house of his God.

9 Profonde est leur corruption; comme aux jours de Guibha. Il se souviendra de leur crime, châtiera leurs péchés.

They have deeply corrupted themselves as in the days of Gibeah. God will call to mind their iniquity, and he will punish their sins.

10 Je trouvai Israël comme des raisins dans le désert, je vis vos pères de l'œil dont on regarde des primeurs sur un figuier qui donne ses premiers fruits; mais eux ils allèrent à Baal-Péhor, et se vouèrent à l'infamie et devinrent abominables comme leurs amours.

Yahweh says, “When I found Israel, it was like finding grapes in the wilderness. Like the very first fruit of the season on the fig tree, I found your fathers. But they went to Baal Peor, and they devoted themselves to that shameful idol. They became as detestable as the idol they loved.

11 Comme un oiseau s'envolera la gloire d'Éphraïm; plus de naissances, plus de grossesses, plus de conception.

As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird. There will be no birth, no pregnancy, and no conception.

12 Quand même ils élèveraient des fils, je les ferai être sans enfants, pour qu'il n'y ait plus d'hommes. Oui, malheur à eux-mêmes, quand je m'éloignerai d'eux!

Though they have brought up children, I will take them away so that none of them is left. Woe to them when I turn away from them!

13 Éphraïm, aussi loin que porte ma vue jusqu'à Tyr, est planté dans une campagne fertile, et les fils d'Éphraïm en seront tirés et livrés au meurtrier.

I have seen Ephraim, just like Tyre, planted in a meadow, but Ephraim will bring out his children to someone who will slaughter them.”

14 Donne-leur, ô Éternel!… que leur donneras-tu?… donne-leur un sein qui avorte et des mamelles arides.

Give them, Yahweh—what will you give them? Give them a miscarrying womb and breasts that give no milk.

15 Toute leur méchanceté [se montre] à Guilgal; oui, là, ils me sont odieux par la malice de leurs actions; de ma maison je les chasserai, et n'aurai plus d'amour pour eux; tous leurs chefs sont réfractaires.

“Because of all their wickedness in Gilgal, that is where I began to hate them. Because of their sinful deeds, I will drive them out of my house. I will love them no more; all their officials are rebels.

16 Éphraïm est frappé; sa racine sèche; ils ne porteront plus de fruit; quand même ils auront des enfants, je ferai périr le doux fruit de leur sein.

Ephraim is diseased, and their root is dried up; they bear no fruit. Even if they have children, I will put their beloved children to death.”

17 Mon Dieu les rejettera, parce qu'ils ne lui sont pas obéissants, et ils seront fugitifs parmi les peuples.

My God will reject them because they have not obeyed him. They will become wanderers among the nations.
