Genèse 1
1 Au commencement Dieu créa les cieux et la terre.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Et la terre était le désert et le vide, et il y avait des ténèbres à la surface de l'abîme, mais l'Esprit de Dieu posait couvant à la surface des eaux.
Now the earth was formless and empty, and darkness was on the surface of the watery depths. And God's Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.
3 Et Dieu dit: Que la lumière soit! Et la lumière fut.
And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
4 Et Dieu vit que la lumière était bonne. Et Dieu sépara la lumière et les ténèbres.
And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.
5 Et Dieu nomma la lumière jour, et nomma les ténèbres nuit. Et il y eut soir, et il y eut matin: premier jour.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. There was evening and there was morning, one day.
6 Puis Dieu dit: Qu'il y ait un firmament entre les eaux, et qu'il sépare les eaux les unes des autres.
And God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters." And it was so.
7 Et Dieu fit le firmament, et sépara les eaux qui sont au-dessous du firmament, des eaux qui sont au-dessus du firmament. Et ainsi fut. Et Dieu nomma le firmament cieux.
And God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse.
8 Et il y eut soir, et il y eut matin: second jour.
And God called the expanse Sky. And God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning, a second day.
9 Puis Dieu dit: Que les eaux se rassemblent sous les cieux en un lieu unique, et que le sec apparaisse. Et ainsi fut.
And God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered to one gathering, and let the dry land appear." And it was so. And the waters under the sky gathered to their gatherings, and the dry land appeared.
10 Et Dieu nomma le sec terre, et nomma l'amas des eaux mer. Et Dieu vit que cela était bon.
And God called the dry land Earth, and the gatherings of the waters he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.
11 Puis Dieu dit: Que la terre fasse germer la verdure, la plante portant graine, l'arbre fruitier donnant selon son espèce un fruit qui ait en lui sa graine, au-dessus de la terre. Et ainsi fut.
And God said, "Let the earth produce vegetation, plants yielding seed after its kind, and fruit trees bearing fruit with seed in it after its kind, on the earth." And it was so.
12 Et la terre produisit verdure, plante portant graine selon son espèce, et arbre donnant du fruit ayant en lui sa graine selon son espèce. Et Dieu vit que cela était bon.
And the earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after its kind, and fruit trees bearing fruit with seed in it after its kind, on the earth. And God saw that it was good.
13 Et il y eut soir, et il y eut matin: troisième jour.
There was evening and there was morning, a third day.
14 Puis Dieu dit: Qu'il y ait des luminaires au firmament des cieux pour séparer le jour et la nuit,
And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky for the illumination of the day, to give light on the earth, and to rule the day and the night, and to separate between the day and the night. And let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years;
15 et qu'ils servent pour signes, et époques, et jours et années, et soient pour luminaires au firmament des cieux pour luire sur la terre.
and let them be for lights in the expanse of the sky to shine on the earth." And it was so.
16 Et ainsi fut. Et Dieu fit les deux grands luminaires, le grand luminaire pour présider au jour et le petit luminaire pour présider à la nuit, et les étoiles.
And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.
17 Et Dieu les plaça au firmament des cieux pour luire sur la terre
And God set them in the expanse of the sky to shine on the earth,
18 et présider au jour et à la nuit et pour séparer la lumière et les ténèbres. Et Dieu vit que cela était bon.
and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
19 Et il y eut soir, et il y eut matin: quatrième jour.
There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
20 Puis Dieu dit: Que les eaux fourmillent d'une multitude d'animaux vivants, et que les volatiles volent au-dessus de la terre au firmament des cieux.
And God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let flying creatures fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky." And it was so.
21 Et Dieu créa les grands poissons de mer et tous les animaux vivants qui se meuvent, dont les eaux fourmillent, selon leurs espèces, et tous les volatiles à ailes selon leurs espèces. Et Dieu vit que cela était bon.
And God created the large sea creatures, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after its kind, and every winged flying creature after its kind. And God saw that it was good.
22 Et Dieu les bénit en disant: Soyez féconds, et vous multipliez, et remplissez les eaux dans les mers et que les volatiles multiplient sur la terre.
And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the flying creatures multiply on the earth."
23 Et il y eut soir et il y eut matin: cinquième jour.
There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
24 Puis Dieu dit: Que la terre produise des animaux vivants selon leurs espèces, des bestiaux et des reptiles, et des bêtes terrestres selon leurs espèces. Et ainsi fut.
And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures after its kind: tame animals, and crawling creatures, and wild animals of the earth after its kind." And it was so.
25 Et Dieu fit les animaux terrestres selon leurs espèces et les bestiaux selon leurs espèces et tous les reptiles du sol selon leurs espèces. Et Dieu vit que cela était bon.
And God made the wild animals of the earth after its kind, and the tame animals after its kind, and everything that crawls on the ground after its kind. And God saw that it was good.
26 Puis Dieu dit: Faisons l'homme à notre image, à notre ressemblance, et qu'ils dominent sur les poissons de la mer et sur les oiseaux des cieux et sur les bestiaux et sur toute la terre et sur tous les reptiles qui se meuvent sur la terre.
And God said, "Let us make humankind in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the flying creatures of the sky, and over the tame animals, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creature that crawls on the earth." And it was so.
27 Et Dieu créa l'homme à son image: à l'image de Dieu Il le créa! Il les créa mâle et femelle.
And God created humankind in his own image. In God's image he created him; male and female he created them.
28 Et Dieu les bénit, et Dieu leur dit: Soyez féconds et vous multipliez, et remplissez la terre et vous la soumettez, et dominez sur les poissons de la mer et sur les oiseaux des cieux et sur tous les animaux qui se meuvent sur la terre.
And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the flying creatures of the sky, and over all the tame animals, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over all the creatures that crawl on the earth."
29 Et Dieu dit: Voici, je vous donne toute plante portant graine, qui se trouve à la surface de toute la terre, et tout arbre ayant un fruit qui porte graine: ils vous serviront d'aliment;
And God said, "Look, I have given you every plant yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.
30 et à tous les animaux de la terre, et à tous les oiseaux des cieux, et à tout ce qui se meut sur la terre ayant âme vivante, [je donne] toute la verdure des plantes pour aliment. Et ainsi fut.
And to every wild animal of the earth, and to every tame animal of the earth, and to every flying creature of the sky, and to every creature that crawls on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green plant for food."
31 Et Dieu vit tout ce qu'il avait fait; et voici, cela était très bon. Et il y eut soir et il y eut matin: sixième jour.
And God saw everything that he had made, and look, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.
