Exode 13

1 Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

2 Consacre-moi tous les premiers-nés, les prémices de toute maternité, parmi les fils d'Israël, et chez les hommes et chez les animaux: ce sera ma propriété.

"Set apart to me all the firstborn. Whatever is first from the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of animal; it is mine."

3 Et Moïse dit au peuple: Souvenez-vous de cette journée, où vous êtes sortis de l'Egypte, de la maison de servitude, car l'Éternel vous en a retirés par la force de [sa] main. [Souvenez-vous-en] pour vous abstenir d'aliments fermentés.

And Moses said to the people, "Remember this day in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery, for with a mighty hand the LORD brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.

4 C'est dans cette journée que vous êtes sortis au mois des épis.

On this day, in the month of Abib, you are going out.

5 Et lorsque l'Éternel t'aura introduit dans le pays des Cananéens et des Héthiens et des Amoréens, des Hévites et des Jébusites, qu'il a juré à tes pères de te donner, pays découlant de lait et de miel, tu célébreras ce service dans ce mois-ci.

And it shall be, when the LORD brings you into the land of the Canaanite, and the Hethite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you must keep this ceremony in this month.

6 Sept jours tu mangeras des pains sans levain, et le septième sera une solennité en l'honneur de l'Éternel.

Six days you are to eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day is a feast to the LORD.

7 Pendant sept jours on usera de pains sans levain, et qu'il ne se voie chez toi rien de fermenté, et qu'il ne se voie chez toi aucun levain dans tout ton territoire.

Unleavened bread is to be eaten throughout the seven days. Nothing leavened is to be seen among you, nor is any leaven to be seen among you in all your territory.

8 Et ce jour-là tu informeras ton fils en disant: C'est à cause de ce que l'Éternel a fait pour moi, quand je suis sorti d'Egypte.

And you are to tell your son on that day, saying, 'It is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.'

9 Et que ceci devienne pour toi un signe sur ta main et un mémorial entre tes yeux, afin que la loi de l'Éternel soit dans ta bouche, car c'est par la force de sa main que l'Éternel t'a retiré d'Egypte.

And it shall be as a sign to you on your hand and as a reminder between your eyes, so that the law of the LORD may be in your mouth, for with a mighty hand the LORD brought you out of Egypt.

10 Et tu observeras cette règle à son époque fixe d'année en année.

Therefore you are to keep this ordinance at its appointed time from year to year.

11 Et lorsque l'Éternel t'aura introduit dans le pays des Cananéens selon le serment qu'il a fait à toi et à tes pères, et qu'il te l'aura donné,

"And it shall be, when the LORD brings you into the land of the Canaanites, as he swore to you and to your fathers, and gives it to you,

12 tu transféreras à l'Éternel toutes les prémices de la maternité et tous les premiers-nés des animaux que tu auras, les mâles, à l'Éternel.

that you are to set apart to the LORD everything that is first from the womb. Every firstborn male animal belongs to the LORD.

13 Mais tu rachèteras tous les premiers-nés de l'âne au moyen d'un mouton, et si tu ne les rachètes pas, tu leur rompras la nuque; et tu rachèteras tous les premiers-nés de l'homme par tes fils.

Every firstborn of a donkey you are to redeem with a lamb, but if you will not redeem it, then you must break its neck. And every firstborn of man among your sons you must redeem.

14 Et si à l'avenir ton fils t'interroge en ces termes: Qu'est ceci? dis-lui: Par la force de [sa] main l'Éternel nous a retirés de l'Egypte, de la maison de servitude,

And it shall be, when your son asks you in the future, saying, 'What is this?' then you are to tell him, 'With a mighty hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of slavery.

15 et il est arrivé que, comme Pharaon s'obstinait à ne pas nous laisser partir, l'Éternel a mis à mort tous les premiers-nés au pays d'Egypte, depuis le premier-né de l'homme au premier-né de l'animal; c'est pourquoi je fais à l'Éternel le sacrifice de toutes les prémices de la maternité, des mâles, et je rachète tous mes fils premiers-nés.

And it happened, when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, that the LORD killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of people and the firstborn of animals. This is why I am sacrificing to the LORD any male that is first from the womb of an animal, but all my firstborn sons I redeem.'

16 Et que ceci devienne pour toi un signe sur ta main et un frontal entre tes yeux, car c'est par la force de [sa main] que l'Éternel nous a retirés de l'Egypte.

So it will be as a sign on your hand and at the front of a headband around your forehead, for with a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt."

17 Et lorsque Pharaon eut laissé partir le peuple, Dieu ne les conduisit pas par le chemin du pays des Philistins, parce que c'était le plus direct; car Dieu dit: Le peuple pourrait avoir du regret à la vue du combat et retourner en Egypte.

Then it came to pass when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was nearby, for God said, "Lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt."

18 Et Dieu fit faire au peuple un détour par le chemin du désert de la Mer aux algues; or les enfants d'Israël quittèrent l'Egypte armés.

So God led the people around by the way of the wilderness to the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went up from the land of Egypt prepared for battle.

19 Et Moïse emporta avec lui les os de Joseph; car celui-ci avait adjuré les enfants d'Israël en ces termes: Dieu vous visitera; alors emmenez d'ici mes os avec vous.

And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had made the children of Israel swear an oath, saying, "God will surely attend to you, and you are to carry my bones up with you from this place."

20 Et ils partirent de Succoth, et vinrent camper à Etham à l'extrémité du désert.

Then they set out from Succoth and camped at Etham on the edge of the wilderness.

21 Et l'Éternel marchait à leur tête; de jour dans une colonne de nuée pour les guider dans le trajet, et de nuit dans une colonne de feu, pour leur éclairer, afin qu'ils pussent cheminer jour et nuit.

And God went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them on their way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day and by night.

22 Et le peuple ne cessait d'avoir en vue, de jour la colonne de nuée, et de nuit la colonne de feu.

He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire at night from in front of the people.
