Actes 2
1 Et, quand vint le jour de la Pentecôte, ils étaient tous ensemble dans le même lieu,
When the day of Pentecost came, all the believers were in the same place with one accord.
2 et il survint tout à coup du ciel un bruit semblable à celui d'un violent coup de vent, et il remplit toute la maison où ils étaient assis,
Suddenly a sound like a mighty rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 et des langues séparées, qui semblaient de feu, leur apparurent, et il s'en posa une sur chacun d'eux,
Divided tongues that looked like fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.
4 et ils furent tous remplis d'esprit saint, et ils commencèrent à parler en d'autres langues, selon que l'esprit leur donnait de s'exprimer.
Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 Or, se trouvaient établis à Jérusalem des Juifs pieux venus de chez toutes les nations qui habitent sous le ciel;
Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven dwelling in Jerusalem.
6 et, quand ce bruit eut eu lieu, la multitude accourut, et elle fut confondue parce que chacun les entendait parler dans son propre idiome.
When this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and they were bewildered because each one of them heard his own language being spoken.
7 Or tous étaient stupéfaits et ils disaient dans leur étonnement: « Voici, tous ces gens-là qui parlent ne sont-ils pas des Galiléens?
They were all astonished and amazed, saying to one another, “Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?
8 Et comment chacun de nous entend-il dans son idiome natal —
How then do we each hear them in our own native languages?
9 Parthes et Mèdes et Élamites, et ceux qui habitent la Mésopotamie, la Judée et la Cappadoce, le Pont et l'Asie, la Phrygie et la Pamphylie, l'Egypte
Parthians, Medes, Elamites; those who dwell in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 et les régions de la Libye voisine de Cyrène, et les voyageurs venus de Rome, Juifs et prosélytes, Crétois et Arabes, —
Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya that are near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism),
11 comment les entendons-nous parler dans nos propres langues des hauts faits de Dieu? »
Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking about the mighty acts of God in our own tongues.”
12 Or tous étaient stupéfaits et incertains, se disant l'un à l'autre: « Que veut dire ceci? »
They were all amazed and greatly perplexed, saying to one another, “What could this mean?”
13 tandis que d'autres raillaient et disaient: « C'est qu'ils sont pleins de vin doux. »
But others scoffed at the believers, saying, “They are filled with new wine.”
14 Mais Pierre s'étant avancé avec les onze éleva la voix et leur dit: « Juifs, et vous tous qui habitez Jérusalem, comprenez bien ceci et prêtez l'oreille à mes paroles,
Then Peter stood up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and declared to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.
15 car ces gens ne sont pas ivres, comme vous le supposez, puisque c'est la troisième heure du jour,
These men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day.
16 mais ce qui se passe est ce qui a été prédit par l'entremise du prophète Joël:
But this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
17 « Et il arrivera après cela, dit Dieu, que Je répandrai de Mon esprit sur toute chair, et vos fils et vos filles prophétiseront, et vos jeunes gens verront des visions, et vos vieillards auront des songes;
‘In the last days, says God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.
18 et certes en ces jours-là Je répandrai de Mon esprit sur Mes serviteurs et sur Mes servantes, et ils prophétiseront;
Even upon my male and female servants I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
19 et J'opérerai des prodiges en haut dans le ciel, et des miracles en bas sur la terre, du sang et du feu et de la vapeur de fumée;
I will perform wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below: blood, fire, and a mist of smoke.
20 le soleil sera changé en ténèbres et la lune en sang, avant qu'arrive la grande et éclatante journée du Seigneur;
The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21 et il arrivera que quiconque aura invoqué le nom du Seigneur sera sauvé. »
And everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.’
22 Israélites, écoutez mes paroles que voici: Jésus le Nazoréen, cet homme accrédité de Dieu auprès de vous par des miracles, des prodiges et des signes que Dieu a opérés par son moyen au milieu de vous, comme vous le savez vous-mêmes,
“Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with miracles, wonders, and signs that God did through him in your midst, just as you yourselves well know,
23 c'est lui que vous avez fait périr en le crucifiant par la main des impies, après qu'il eut été livré selon le dessein arrêté et la prescience de Dieu,
this man, who was delivered up by the deliberate plan and foreknowledge of God, you took and put to death, having him nailed to the cross by the hands of lawless men.
24 et c'est lui que Dieu a ressuscité en dissipant les douleurs de la mort, en la puissance de laquelle il n'était, en effet, pas possible qu'il fût retenu;
But God raised him up, releasing him from the pangs of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.
25 car David dit à propos de lui: « J'ai toujours vu le Seigneur devant moi, parce qu'il se tient à ma droite, afin que je ne sois point ébranlé,
For David says about him, ‘I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand so that I will not be shaken.
26 c'est pourquoi mon cœur a été dans la joie et ma langue dans l'allégresse; ma chair aussi se reposera encore avec espérance,
Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue rejoiced; moreover, my flesh will dwell in hope.
27 parce que Tu n'abandonneras pas mon âme dans le séjour des morts et que Tu ne permettras point que celui qui T'est consacré voie la corruption. (Hadēs g86)
For yoʋ will not abandon my soul to Hades, nor will yoʋ let yoʋr Holy One see corruption. (Hadēs g86)
28 Tu m'as fais connaître les routes de la vie, Tu me combleras de joie par Ta présence. »
Yoʋ have made known to me the paths of life; yoʋ will fill me with joy by yoʋr presence.’
29 Frères, il est permis de vous dire avec assurance, quant au patriarche David, qu'il est mort et qu'il a été enterré; aussi bien son sépulcre subsiste-t-il parmi nous jusques à ce jour.
“Brothers, I can say to you with confidence concerning our patriarch David that he died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
30 Étant donc prophète, et sachant que Dieu lui avait juré avec serment qu'il ferait asseoir un fruit de ses reins sur son trône,
So then, because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath to him that from among his descendants, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,
31 c'est par prévision qu'il a parlé de la résurrection du Christ, car celui-ci n'a pas été abandonné dans le séjour des morts et sa chair n'a pas vu la corruption; (Hadēs g86)
David foresaw what would happen and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, saying that his soul was not abandoned to Hades and that his flesh did not see corruption. (Hadēs g86)
32 c'est ce Jésus que Dieu a ressuscité, ce dont, nous tous, nous sommes témoins.
This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.
33 Ayant donc été élevé à la droite de Dieu, et ayant reçu du Père l'esprit saint qui avait été promis, il a répandu celui-ci comme vous-mêmes aussi vous le voyez et vous l'entendez.
Therefore, having been exalted to the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you now see and hear.
34 David, en effet, n'est point monté dans les cieux, mais il dit lui-même: « Le Seigneur a dit à mon seigneur: Assieds-toi à Ma droite,
For David did not ascend to heaven, but he himself says, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand
35 jusqu'à ce que J'aie fait de tes ennemis un marchepied pour tes pieds. »
until I make yoʋr enemies a footstool for yoʋr feet.”’
36 Que toute la maison d'Israël sache donc avec certitude que Dieu l'a fait et seigneur, et Christ, ce Jésus que vous, vous avez crucifié. »
Therefore, let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”
37 Ce qu'ayant ouï, ils furent piqués au cœur, et ils dirent à Pierre et aux autres apôtres: « Frères, qu'avons-nous à faire? »
When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”
38 Sur quoi Pierre s'adressant à eux: « Repentez-vous, et que chacun de vous se fasse baptiser au nom de Jésus-Christ, pour la rémission de ses péchés, et vous recevrez le don du saint esprit;
Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 car c'est pour vous qu'est la promesse, et pour vos enfants, et pour tous ceux au loin qu'aura appelés à Lui le Seigneur notre Dieu. »
For this promise is for you, for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God calls to himself.”
40 Et il rendait témoignage par plusieurs autres paroles, et il les exhortait en disant: « Sauvez-vous en quittant cette génération pervertie. »
With many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this crooked generation.”
41 Ceux donc qui eurent à gré ses paroles se firent baptiser, et il y eut ce jour-là environ trois mille personnes qui furent agrégées.
Then those who gladly received his word were baptized, and about three thousand souls were added on that day.
42 Cependant ils étaient assidus à l'enseignement des apôtres et aux réunions communes, à la fraction du pain et aux prières.
They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
43 Or chacun était dans la crainte; mais il se faisait beaucoup de prodiges et de miracles par les apôtres.
A sense of awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles.
44 Et tous ceux qui avaient cru avaient en un même lieu toutes choses en commun,
All who believed were together and had all things in common.
45 et ils vendaient leurs propriétés et leurs biens, et ils les distribuaient à tous selon les besoins de chacun.
They were selling their possessions and belongings, and distributing the proceeds to all, as anyone had need.
46 Tous les jours ils étaient ensemble assidus dans le temple, et, rompant le pain dans les maisons, ils prenaient leur nourriture avec allégresse et simplicité de cœur,
Day by day as they continued meeting together with one accord in the temple courts and breaking bread from house to house, they shared food together with gladness and simplicity of heart,
47 louant Dieu, et trouvant faveur auprès de tout le peuple. Cependant le Seigneur agrégeait journellement au même corps ceux qui étaient sauvés.
praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
