2 Samuel 23

1 Et voici les dernières paroles de David: Prononcé de David, fils d'Isaï, prononcé de l'homme élevé au rang d'Oint du Dieu de Jacob, et du chantre aimable d'Israël:

And these [are] the last words of David. Faithful [is] David the son of Jessae, and faithful the man whom the Lord raised up to be the anointed of the God of Jacob, and beautiful [are] the psalms of Israel.

2 L'Esprit de l'Éternel parle par moi, et sa parole est sur mes lèvres;

The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, and his word [was] upon my tongue.

3 Le Dieu d'Israël a parlé, le rocher d'Israël m'a dit: Parmi les hommes un souverain juste, un souverain qui a la crainte de Dieu,

The God of Israel says, A watchman out of Israel spoke to me a parable: I said among men, How will ye strengthen the fear of the anointed?

4 est comme l'aube matinale: le soleil se lève, le matin est sans nuage; ses rayons qui suivent la rosée font poindre la verdure de la terre.

And in the morning light of God, let the sun arise in the morning, from the light of which the Lord passed on, and as it were from the rain of the tender grass upon the earth.

5 N'est-ce pas sur ce pied qu'est ma maison avec Dieu, qu'il a fait avec moi une alliance éternelle, en tous points stipulée et gardée? Ne fera-t-Il pas croître et mûrir mon salut tout entier et tous mes vœux?

For my house [is] not so with the Mighty One: for he has made an everlasting covenant with me, ready, guarded at every time; for all my salvation and all my desire [is], that the wicked should not flourish.

6 Mais les méchants sont tous comme des ronces à jeter, dans la main personne ne les prend,

All these [are] as a thorn thrust forth, for they shall not be taken with the hand,

7 et qui veut les atteindre s'arme d'un fer ou du bois d'une lance, et sur-le-champ elles sont brûlées au feu.

and a man shall not labour among them; and [one shall have] that which is fully armed with iron, and the staff of a spear, an he shall burn them with fire, and they shall be burnt in their shame.

8 Suivent les noms des capitaines qu'avait David: Joseb-Bassebeth, de Tahchemon, l'un des chefs des Triaires; il brandissait sa hampe sur huit cents hommes percés d'une seule fois.

These [are] the names of the mighty men of David: Jebosthe the Chananite is a captain of the third [part]: Adinon the Asonite, he drew his sword against eight hundred soldiers at once.

9 Et après lui Éléazar, fils de Dodo, fils d'Ahohi: c'était l'un des trois héros qui accompagnaient David, lorsqu'ils défièrent les Philistins réunis là pour le combat; et les hommes d'Israël gagnèrent les hauteurs.

And after him Eleanan the son of his uncle, son of Dudi who was among the three mighty men with David; and when he defied the Philistines they were gathered there to war, and the men of Israel went up.

10 Mais il tint ferme, et il battit les Philistins jusqu'à ce que sa main fatiguée resta collée à son épée; et en cette journée l'Éternel opéra une grande victoire. Et le peuple revint sur ses pas pour le suivre, mais seulement pour piller.

He arose an smote the Philistines, until his hand was weary, and his hand clave to the sword: and the Lord wrought a great salvation in that day, and the people rested behind him only to strip [the slain].

11 Et après lui Samma, fils de Agé, de Harar. Et les Philistins s'étaient réunis à Léchi; et il y avait là une pièce de terre remplie de lentilles, et le peuple prit la fuite devant les Philistins;

And after him Samaia the son of Asa the Arachite: and the Philistines were gathered to Theria; and there was there a portion of ground full of lentiles; and the people fled before the Philistines.

12 alors il vint se poster au milieu du champ et le dégagea, et battit les Philistins; et l'Éternel opéra une grande victoire.

And he stood firm in the midst of the portion, and rescued it, and smote the Philistines; and the Lord wrought a great deliverance.

13 Et trois des trente chefs descendirent, et vinrent au temps de la moisson joindre David à la grotte d'Adullam, et un gros de Philistins campait dans la vallée de Rephaïm,

And three out of the thirty went down, and came to Cason to David, to the cave of Odollam; and [there was] an army of the Philistines, and they encamped in the valley of Raphain.

14 et David était alors le sommet, et les Philistins avaient alors un poste à Bethléhem.

And David [was] then in the strong hold, and the garrison of the Philistines [was] then in Bethleem.

15 Et David eut une envie et dit: Qui va me chercher de l'eau à boire à la fontaine de Bethléhem, qui est à la Porte?

And David longed, and said, Who will give me water to drink out of the well that is in Bethleem by the gate? now the band of the Philistines [was] then in Bethleem.

16 Alors les trois héros se firent jour à travers le camp des Philistins, et puisèrent de l'eau à la fontaine de Bethléhem vers la Porte, et ils l'apportèrent et l'offrirent à David. Mais il ne voulut pas la boire, et il en fit une libation à l'Éternel.

And the three mighty men broke through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well that was in Bethleem in the gate: and they took it, and brought it to David, and he would not drink it, but poured it out before the Lord.

17 Et il dit: Ce serait odieux à moi, Éternel, de le faire! Moi [boire] le sang des hommes qui sont allés au péril de leur vie! Et il ne voulut pas la boire. Tel fut l'exploit des trois héros.

And he said, O Lord, forbid that I should do this, that I should drink of the blood of the men who went at [the risk of] their lives: and he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

18 Et Abisaï, frère de Joab, fils de Tseruïa: il était l'un des chefs des Triaires; et il brandit sa lance sur trois cents morts; et il avait un nom parmi les Triaires.

And Abessa the brother of Joab the son of Saruia, he [was] chief among the three, and he lifted up his spear against three hundred whom he slew; and he had a name among three.

19 Il était bien illustre parmi les Triaires; il était un de leurs chefs; mais il n'était pas au niveau des trois premiers.

Of those three [he was] most honourable, and he became a chief over them, but he reached not to the [first] three.

20 Et Benaïa, fils de Joïada, fils d'un brave, grand par ses exploits, de Cabtsel: il abattit deux lions de Dieu de Moab; il fit une descente et abattit un lion dans la citerne un jour de neige.

And Banaeas the son of Jodae, he was abundant in [mighty] deeds, from Cabeseel, and he smote the two sons of Ariel of Moab: and he went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day.

21 Et il abattit un Égyptien, homme d'apparence; et dans la main de l'Égyptien était une pique; et il fondit sur lui avec le bâton, et arracha la pique de la main de l'Égyptien, qu'il tua avec sa propre pique.

He smote an Egyptian, a wonderful man, and in the hand of the Egyptian [was] a spear as the side of a ladder; and he went down to him with a staff, and snatched the spear from the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

22 Tels sont les exploits de Benaïa, fils de Joïada, et il avait un nom entre les trois héros.

These things did Banaeas the son of Jodae, and he had a name among the three mighty men.

23 Il était honoré par les Triaires; mais il n'était pas au niveau des trois [premiers]. Et David en fit son conseiller intime.

He was honourable among the [second] three, but he reached not to the [first] three: and David made him his reporter. And these [are] the names of King David's mighty men.

24 Hasahel, frère de Joab d'entre les Triaires. El-Hanan, fils de Dodo, de Bethléhem.

Asael Joab's brother; he [was] among the thirty. Eleanan son of Dudi his uncle in Bethleem.

25 Samma de Harad. Elika, de Harod,

Saema the Rudaean.

26 Hélets, de Palti. Ira, fils de Ikès, de Thékôa.

Selles the Kelothite: Iras the son of Isca the Thecoite.

27 Abiézer, d'Anathoth. Mevunaï, de Husa.

Abiezer the Anothite, of the sons of the Anothite.

28 Tsalmon, de Hachoach. Mahoraï, de Netopha.

Ellon the Aoite; Noere the Netophatite.

29 Héleb, fils de Baëna, de Netopha. Ithaï, fils de Ribaï, de Gibea en Benjamin.

Esthai the son of Riba of Gabaeth, son of Benjamin the Ephrathite; Asmoth the Bardiamite; Emasu the Salabonite:

30 Benaïa, de Pireathon. Hidaï, de Nahalei-Gaas.

Adroi of the brooks.

31 Abialbon, de Arabah. Azmaveth, le Bahrumite.
