2 Chroniques 15

1 Or Azaria, fils de Oded, reçut l'Esprit de Dieu.

And Azarias the son of Oded—upon him came the Spirit of the Lord,

2 Et il alla au-devant d'Asa et lui dit: Écoutez-moi, Asa, et vous tous de Juda et de Benjamin! L'Éternel a été avec vous, parce que vous ayez été avec Lui; et si vous Le cherchez, Il se laissera trouver par vous; mais si vous L'abandonnez, Il vous abandonnera.

and he went out to meet Asa, and all Juda and Benjamin, and said, Hear me, Asa, and all Juda and Benjamin. The Lord [is] with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him out, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

3 Il y a eu pour Israël de longs jours sans vrai Dieu et sans Prêtre enseignant, et sans Loi;

And Israel [has been] a long time without the true God, and without a priest to expound [the truth], and without the law.

4 mais comme dans la détresse ils revinrent à l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, et le cherchèrent, Il se laissa trouver par eux.

But he shall turn them to the Lord God of Israel, and he will be found of them.

5 Dans ces temps-là il n'y avait point de sûreté pour qui sortait et qui entrait, mais une grande perturbation affectait tous les habitants du pays.

And in that time there is no peace to one going out, or to one coming in, for the terror of the Lord is upon all that inhabit the lands.

6 Un peuple se heurtait contre un peuple et une ville contre une ville; car Dieu les inquiétait par toutes sortes de tribulations.

And nation shall fight against nation, and city against city; for God has confounded them with every [kind of] affliction.

7 Mais vous, restez fermes et n'ayez pas les mains lâches; car il est un salaire pour vos œuvres.

But be you strong, and let not your hands be weakened: for there is a reward for your work.

8 Et lorsque Asa entendit ces paroles et la prophétie de Oded, le prophète, il s'encouragea et extermina toutes les horreurs de tout le pays de Juda et de Benjamin, et des villes qu'il avait conquises dans la montagne d'Ephraïm, et il restaura l'autel de l'Éternel qui est devant le vestibule de l'Éternel.

And when [Asa] heard these words, and the prophesy of Adad the prophet, then he strengthened himself, and cast out the abominations from all the land of Juda and Benjamin, and from the cities which Jeroboam possessed, in mount Ephraim, and he renewed the altar of the Lord, which was before the temple of the Lord.

9 Et il assembla tout Juda et Benjamin et avec eux les étrangers d'Ephraïm et de Manassé et de Siméon; car une multitude de gens étaient passés chez lui d'Israël, lorsqu'ils virent que l'Éternel, son Dieu, était avec lui.

And he assembled Juda and Benjamin, and the strangers that lived with him, of Ephraim, and of Manasse, and of Symeon: for many of Israel were joined to him, when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.

10 Et ils s'assemblèrent à Jérusalem au troisième mois, la quinzième année du règne d'Asa,

And they assembled at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

11 et dans cette journée ils sacrifièrent à l'Éternel, sur le butin qu'ils avaient remporté, sept cents taureaux et sept mille moutons,

And he sacrificed to the Lord in that day of the spoils which they brought, seven hundred calves and seven thousand sheep.

12 et conclurent l'engagement de chercher l'Éternel, Dieu de leurs pères, de tout leur cœur et de toute leur âme;

And he entered into a covenant that they should seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul.

13 et quiconque ne chercherait pas l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, subirait la mort, petit et grand, homme et femme.

And that whoever should not seek the Lord God of Israel, should die, whether young or old, whether man or woman.

14 Et ils prêtèrent serment à l'Éternel d'une voix forte et par acclamation et au son des trompettes et des clairons:

And they swore to the Lord with a loud voice, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

15 et tout Juda se réjouit du serment, car ils l'avaient prêté de tout leur cœur, et c'était de leur plein gré qu'ils le cherchaient, et Il se laissa trouver par eux, et l'Éternel leur donna paix de toutes parts.

And all Juda rejoiced concerning the oath: for they swore with all their heart, and they sought him with all their desires; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about.

16 Et même il destitua Maacha, mère du roi Asa, de sa qualité de reine, pour avoir fait une idole Astarté; et Asa mit son idole en pièces, et la broya et la brûla dans la vallée du Cédron.

And he removed Maacha his mother from being priestess to Astarte; and he cut down the idol, and burnt it in the brook of Kedron.

17 Mais les tertres ne disparurent pas d'Israël, néanmoins le cœur d'Asa resta intact toute sa vie.

Nevertheless they removed not the high places: they still existed in Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

18 Et il introduisit ce que son père avait consacré et ce que lui-même avait consacré, dans le temple de Dieu, argent, or et meubles.

And he brought in the holy things of David his father, and the holy things of the house of God, silver, and gold, and vessels.

19 Et il n'y eut pas guerre jusqu'à la trente-cinquième année du règne d'Asa.

And there was no war [waged] with him until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa.
