1 Rois 22
1 Et il y eut entre eux une trêve de trois ans, car il n'y eut pas guerre entre la Syrie et Israël.
And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.
2 Et la troisième année, Josaphat, roi de Juda, descendit chez le roi d'Israël.
And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
3 Et le roi d'Israël dit à ses serviteurs: Savez-vous que Ramoth en Galaad est à nous? Et nous ne parlons pas de la reprendre des mains du roi de Syrie?
And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead [is] ours, and we [be] still, [and] take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?
4 Et il dit à Josaphat: Veux-tu venir avec moi attaquer Ramoth en Galaad? Et Josaphat dit au roi d'Israël: Nous irons de pair moi et toi, mon monde et ton monde, ma cavalerie et ta cavalerie.
And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth-gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I [am] as thou [art], my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.
5 Et Josaphat dit au roi d'Israël: Requiers donc aujourd'hui la parole de l'Éternel!
And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.
6 Alors le roi d'Israël réunit les prophètes, près de quatre cents hommes, et il leur dit: Marcherai-je à l'attaque de Ramoth en Galaad, ou m'abstiendrai-je? Et ils lui dirent: Tiens la campagne et le Seigneur la livrera aux mains du roi.
Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver [it] into the hand of the king.
7 Et Josaphat dit: N'y a-t-il plus ici de prophète de l'Éternel, que nous puissions interroger?
And Jehoshaphat said, [Is there] not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?
8 Et le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat: Il y a encore un homme par qui nous pouvons consulter l'Éternel; mais je le hais, parce qu'il ne me prédit pas du bien, mais du mal, Michée, fils de Jimla. Et Josaphat dit: Que le roi ne s'exprime pas ainsi!
And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, [There is] yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
9 Alors le roi d'Israël manda un eunuque et lui dit: Fais vite venir Michée, fils de Jimla.
Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten [hither] Micaiah the son of Imlah.
10 Or le roi d'Israël et Josaphat, roi de Juda, étaient assis chacun sur son trône, revêtus du costume, dans un local à l'entrée de la porte de Samarie, et tous les prophètes prophétisaient devant eux.
And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
11 Et Sédécias, fils de Knaana, se fit des cornes de fer et dit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Avec ceci tu culbuteras les Syriens jusqu'à les détruire.
And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.
12 Et tous les prophètes prophétisèrent de même et dirent: Marche contre Ramoth en Galaad, et tu réussiras, et l'Éternel la livrera entre les mains du roi.
And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver [it] into the king’s hand.
13 Cependant le messager parti pour mander Michée lui parla en ces termes: Voici, les paroles des prophètes ont été unanimement favorables au roi: que ta réponse soit donc semblable à la réponse de chacun d'eux, et parle favorablement.
And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets [declare] good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak [that which is] good.
14 Et Michée dit: Par la vie de l'Éternel! Ce que l'Éternel me dira, je le rendrai.
And Micaiah said, [As] the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.
15 Et quand il fut arrivé auprès du roi, le roi lui dit: Michée, marcherons-nous sur Ramoth en Galaad pour l'attaquer, ou bien nous abstiendrons-nous? Et il lui répondit: Mets-toi en campagne et tu réussiras, et l'Éternel la livrera aux mains du roi.
So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver [it] into the hand of the king.
16 Et le roi lui dit: Combien de fois me faudra-t-il t'adjurer de ne me dire que la vérité, au nom de l'Éternel?
And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but [that which is] true in the name of the LORD?
17 Et il répondit: Je vois tout Israël épars sur les montagnes comme un troupeau sans pasteur. Et l'Éternel dit: Ils n'ont plus de souverain; qu'ils retournent chacun dans sa demeure en paix!
And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.
18 Alors le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat: Ne te l'ai-je pas dit? Il ne me prédit pas du bonheur, mais du malheur.
And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?
19 Et il reprit: En conséquence écoute la parole de l'Éternel! J'ai vu l'Éternel assis sur son trône et toute l'armée des Cieux debout près de Lui à sa droite et à sa gauche.
And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
20 Et l'Éternel dit: Qui fascinera Achab pour qu'il marche et aille tomber à Ramoth en Galaad? Et l'un parla d'une manière et l'autre d'une autre.
And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.
21 Alors l'esprit parut et se présenta devant l'Éternel et dit: Moi, j'irai le fasciner. Et l'Éternel lui dit: Comment?
And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.
22 Et il répondit: Je veux sortir et être esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tous ses prophètes. Et il dit: Fascine, et aussi tu le pourras; pars et ainsi fais.
And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade [him], and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
23 Eh bien! donc l'Éternel a mis un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tous ces tiens prophètes; et l'Éternel a contre toi dénoncé le désastre.
Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.
24 Alors Sédécias, fils de Knaana, s'approcha et frappa Michée à la joue et dit: Par quelle voie l'esprit de l'Éternel s'en est-il allé d'avec moi pour parler avec toi?
But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?
25 Et Michée dit: Voici, tu le verras le jour même que tu passeras de chambre en chambre pour te cacher.
And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.
26 Et le roi d'Israël dit à [quelqu'un]: Saisis Michée et le ramène chez Amon, préfet de la ville, et chez Joas, fils du roi,
And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
27 et tu diras: Ainsi parle le roi: Mettez celui-ci en prison et le nourrissez du pain et de l'eau de tribulation jusqu'à ce que je revienne sain et sauf.
And say, Thus saith the king, Put this [fellow] in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.
28 Et Michée dit: Si tu reviens sain et sauf, l'Éternel n'a pas parlé par moi. Il dit encore: Entendez-le! vous toutes les Tribus.
And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.
29 Ainsi le roi d'Israël marcha avec Josaphat, roi de Juda, contre Ramoth en Galaad.
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.
30 Et le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat: Je me travestirai pour aller au combat; mais toi, revêts-toi de tes habits.
And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.
31 Et le roi d'Israël se travestit et alla au combat. Or le roi de Syrie avait donné cet ordre aux trente-deux chefs des chars qu'il avait: N'engagez la lutte avec personne, petit ou grand, mais avec le roi d'Israël seul.
But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.
32 Et quand les chefs des chars aperçurent Josaphat, ils dirent: Ce ne peut être que le roi d'Israël; et ils appuyèrent de son côté pour l'attaquer. Alors Josaphat cria.
And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it [is] the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.
33 Les chefs des chars, qui virent alors que ce n'était pas le roi d'Israël, cessèrent de le poursuivre.
And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it [was] not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
34 Cependant un homme banda son arc, tout innocemment, et décocha un coup au roi d'Israël au défaut de la cuirasse. Et celui-ci dit à son cocher: Tourne et mène-moi hors de la mêlée, car je me sens mal.
And a [certain] man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.
35 Et l'action était chaude en cette journée, et le roi fut tenu debout sur son char en face des Syriens, et il mourut dans la soirée. Et le sang de la blessure coula dans la caisse du char.
And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.
36 Alors retentit dans la mêlée au coucher du soleil cette proclamation: Chacun à sa ville et chacun dans son pays!
And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.
37 Et le roi mort fut ramené à Samarie, et on donna la sépulture au roi à Samarie.
So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
38 Et lorsqu'on lava le char à l'étang de Samarie, les chiens lapèrent son sang, et les prostituées s'y baignèrent selon la menace que l'Éternel avait prononcée.
And [one] washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake.
39 Le reste des actes d'Achab, et toutes ses entreprises, et la construction du palais d'ivoire, et la fondation de toutes les villes qu'il bâtit, cela est d'ailleurs consigné dans le livre des annales des rois d'Israël.
Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
40 Et Achab reposa avec ses pères, et son fils Achazia régna en sa place.
So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
41 Et Josaphat, fils d'Asa, devint roi de Juda la quatrième année d'Achab, roi d'Israël.
And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
42 Et Josaphat à son avènement avait trente-cinq ans, et il régna vingt-cinq ans à Jérusalem. Or le nom de sa mère était Azouba, fille de Silchi.
Jehoshaphat [was] thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name [was] Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
43 Et il marcha sur tous les errements d'Asa, son père, sans s'en écarter, faisant ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel. Seulement les tertres ne disparurent pas; le peuple offrait encore des victimes et de l'encens sur les tertres.
And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing [that which was] right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; [for] the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.
44 Et Josaphat fut en paix avec le roi d'Israël.
And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
45 Le reste des actes de Josaphat, et ses exploits et ses guerres, sont d'ailleurs consignés dans le livre des annales des rois de Juda.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
46 Et il extermina du pays le reste des prostitués qui restaient à l'époque d'Asa, son père.
And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.
47 Et il n'y avait pas de roi en Édom, qui était régi par un gouverneur.
[There was] then no king in Edom: a deputy [was] king.
48 Josaphat construisit des navires de Tharsis pour aller à Ophir chercher l'or; mais ils n'allèrent point, car les navires firent naufrage à Etsion Géber.
Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber.
49 Alors Achazia, fils d'Achab, dit à Josaphat: Permets que mes serviteurs s'embarquent avec tes serviteurs dans les navires; mais Josaphat ne consentit pas.
Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.
50 Et Josaphat reposa avec ses pères et reçut la sépulture avec ses pères dans la ville de David, son père, et Joram, son fils, régna en sa place.
And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
51 Achazia, fils d'Achab, devint roi d'Israël à Samarie la dix-septième année de Josaphat, roi de Juda, et il régna deux ans sur Israël.
Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.
52 Et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel et marcha sur les errements de son père et sur les errements de sa mère, et sur les errements de Jéroboam, fils de Nebat, qui avait entraîné Israël au péché.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:
53 Et il servit Baal et l'adora et provoqua l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, tout comme avait fait son père.
For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
