1 Rois 16

1 Et la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Jéhu, fils de Hanani, contre Baësa en ces termes:

And the word of the Lord came by the hand of Ju son of Anani to Baasa, [saying],

2 Parce que je t'ai fait surgir de la poussière, et établi prince de mon peuple d'Israël, et que tu as marché sur les errements de Jéroboam et entraîné à pécher mon peuple d'Israël pour me provoquer par leurs péchés,

Forasmuch as I lifted thee up from the earth, and made thee ruler over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast caused my people Israel to sin, to provoke me with their vanities;

3 voici je vais ravager après Baësa et sa maison et réduire ta maison à l'état de la maison de Jéroboam, fils de Nebat.

Behold, I raise up [enemies] after Baasa, and after his house; and I will make thy house as the house of Jeroboam son of Nabat.

4 Ceux qui mourront à Baësa dans la ville seront dévorés par les chiens et ceux qui lui mourront aux champs, dévorés par les oiseaux du ciel.

Him that dies of Baasa in the city the dogs shall devour, and him that dies of his in the field the birds of the sky shall devour.

5 Et le reste des actes de Baësa, et ses entreprises et ses exploits sont d'ailleurs consignés dans le livre des annales des rois d'Israël.

Now the rest of the history of Baasa, and all that he did, and his mighty acts, behold, are not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

6 Et Baësa reposa à côté de ses pères et reçut la sépulture à Thirtsa, et Éla, son fils, régna en sa place.

And Baasa slept with his fathers, and they bury him in Thersa; and Ela his son reigns in his stead.

7 Et par l'organe de Jéhu, fils de Hanani, le prophète, la parole de l'Éternel fut donc aussi prononcée contre Baësa et contre sa maison et à cause de tout le mal qu'il avait fait à la face de l'Éternel, Le provoquant par l'ouvrage de ses mains, et étant comme la maison de Jéroboam, et aussi parce qu'il lui avait porté ses coups.

And the Lord spoke by Ju the son of Anani against Baasa, and against his house, [even] all the evil which he wrought before the Lord to provoke him to anger by the works of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam; and because he smote him.

8 La vingt-sixième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Éla, fils de Baësa, devint roi d'Israël à Thirtsa, pour deux ans.

And Ela son of Baasa reigned over Israel two years in Thersa.

9 Et contre lui conspira son serviteur Zimri, chef de la demi-division des chars. Et comme il était à s'enivrer à Thirtsa dans la maison d'Artsa, préfet du palais,

And Zambri, captain of half his cavalry, conspired against him, while he was in Thersa, drinking himself drunk in the house of Osa the steward at Thersa.

10 Zimri s'introduisit et l'assassina et lui donna la mort la vingt-septième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et régna en sa place.

And Zambri went in and smote him and slew him, and reigned in his stead.

11 Et quand il fut roi et fut assis sur son trône, il fit main basse sur toute la maison de Baësa, sans laisser la vie à aucun des siens, soit [enfants] pissant à la muraille, soit proche, soit ami.

And it came to pass when he reigned, when he sat upon his throne,

12 Ainsi Zimri anéantit toute la maison de Baësa, selon la menace de l'Éternel qu'il avait prononcée contre Baësa par l'organe de Jéhu, le prophète,

that he smote all the house of Baasa, according to the word which the Lord spoke against the house of Baasa, and to Ju the prophet,

13 à cause de tous les péchés de Baësa et des péchés d'Éla, son fils, dont ils se rendirent coupables et où ils entraînèrent les Israélites, qui provoquèrent l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, par leurs vaines idoles.

for all the sins of Baasa and Ela his son, as he led Israel astray to sin, to provoke the Lord God of Israel with their vanities.

14 Le reste des actes d'Éla et toutes ses entreprises sont d'ailleurs consignés dans le livre des annales des rois d'Israël.

And the rest of the deeds of Ela which he did, behold, are not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

15 La vingt-septième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Zimri devint roi, pour sept jours, à Thirtsa. Or le peuple campait cernant Gibbethon, qui est aux Philistins.

And Zambri reigned in Thersa seven days: and the army of Israel [was] encamped against Gabathon of the Philistines.

16 Et le peuple campé entendit cette nouvelle: Zimri a conspiré, et a même tué le roi; et tous les Israélites ce jour-là dans le camp constituèrent roi d'Israël Omri, général de l'armée.

And the people heard in the army, saying, Zambri has conspired and smitten the king: and the people of Israel made Ambri the captain of the host king in that day in the camp over Israel.

17 Alors Omri accompagné de tous les Israélites, partit de Gibbethon, et ils vinrent assiéger Thirtsa.

And Ambri went up, and all Israel with him, out of Gabathon; and they besieged Thersa.

18 Et Zimri voyant que la ville était prise, se retira dans le donjon du palais royal et il mit le feu sur lui au palais royal qu'il brûla,

And it came to pass when Zambri saw that his city was taken, that he goes into the inner chamber of the house of the king, and burnt the king's house over him, and died.

19 et il périt ensuite de ses péchés qu'il avait commis en faisant ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, en marchant sur les errements de Jéroboam et dans son péché qu'il avait commis pour entraîner Israël au péché.

Because of his sins which he committed, doing that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, so as to walk in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, and in his sins wherein he caused Israel to sin.

20 Le reste des actes de Zimri, et sa conspiration qu'il ourdit, est d'ailleurs consigné dans le livre des annales des rois d'Israël.

And the rest of the history of Zambri, and his conspiracies wherein he conspired, behold, are not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

21 Alors le peuple d'Israël se divisa en deux partis: une moitié du peuple suivit Thibni, fils de Ginath, dans le but de lui donner la royauté; et l'autre moitié suivit Omri;

Then the people of Israel divides; half the people goes after Thamni the son of Gonath to make him king; and half the people goes after Ambri.

22 mais le peuple qui suivait Omri, l'emportait sur le peuple qui suivait Thibni, fils de Ginath, et Thibni mourut et Omri régna.

The people that followed Ambri overpowered the people that followed Thamni son of Gonath; and Thamni died and Joram his brother at that time, and Ambri reigned after Thamni.

23 La trente-unième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Omri devint roi d'Israël, pour douze ans, dont il régna six à Thirtsa.

In the thirty-first year of king Asa, Ambri begins to reign over Israel twelve years: he reigns six years in Thersa.

24 Et il acheta le mont de Samarie de Semer pour deux talents d'argent, et il y éleva des bâtiments, et il nomma la ville qu'il avait bâtie, Samarie du nom de Semer, seigneur du mont.

And Ambri bought the mount Semeron of Semer the lord of the mountain for two talents of silver; and he built [upon] the mountain, and they called the name of the mountain [on] which he built, after the name of Semer the lord of the mount, Semeron.

25 Et Omri fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel et fut pire que tous ses prédécesseurs.

And Ambri did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and wrought wickedly beyond all that were before him.

26 Et il marcha en tout sur les errements de Jéroboam, fils de Nebat, et dans ses péchés où il avait entraîné Israël qui provoqua l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, par ses vaines idoles.

And he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, and in his sins wherewith he caused Israel to sin, to provoke the Lord God of Israel by their vanities.

27 Le reste des actes d'Omri et ses entreprises, et les exploits qu'il exécuta, sont d'ailleurs consignés dans le livre des annales des rois d'Israël.

And the rest of the acts of Ambri, and all that he did, and all his might, behold, [are] not these things written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

28 Et Omri reposa à côté de ses pères et il reçut la sépulture à Samarie. Et Achab, son fils, régna en sa place.

And Ambri slept with his fathers, and is buried in Samaria; and Achaab his son reigns in his stead.

29 Or Achab, fils d'Omri, devint roi d'Israël, la trente-huitième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et Achab, fils d'Omri, régna sur Israël à Samarie vingt-deux ans.

In the second year of Josaphat king of Juda, Achaab son of Ambri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years.

30 Et Achab, fils d'Omri, fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel plus que tous ses prédécesseurs.

And Achaab did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and did more wickedly than all that were before him.

31 Et (était-ce trop peu pour lui de marcher sur les errements de Jéroboam, fils de Nebat?) il prit pour femme Jézabel, fille d'Ethbaal, roi de Sidon, et il s'en alla servir Baal et l'adorer.

And it was not enough for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, but he took to wife, Jezabel the daughter of Jethebaal king of the Sidonians; and he went and served Baal, and worshiped him.

32 Et il érigea un autel à Baal dans le temple de Baal qu'il avait bâti à Samarie.

And he set up an alter to Baal, in the house of his abominations, which he built in Samaria.

33 Et Achab fit une Astarté, et Achab fit davantage encore pour provoquer l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, plus que tous les rois d'Israël, ses prédécesseurs.

And Achaab made a grove; and Achaab did yet more abominably, to provoke the Lord God of Israel, and [to sin against] his own life so that he should be destroyed: he did evil above all the kings of Israel that were before him.

34 De son temps, Hiel, de Béthel, édifia Jéricho. Il en posa les fondements au prix d'Abiram, son premier-né; et au prix de Serub, son cadet, il en éleva les portes selon la parole que l'Éternel avait prononcée par l'organe de Josué, fils de Nun.

And in his days Achiel the Baethelite built Jericho: he laid the foundation of it in Abiron his first-born, and he set up the doors of it in Segub his younger son, according to the word of the Lord which he spoke by Joshua the son of Naue.
