1 Chroniques 27

1 Suivent les enfants d'Israël selon leur nombre, patriarches et chefs de mille et de cent et leurs officiers au service du roi, selon tout le mode de classement de ceux qui relevaient et de ceux qui étaient relevés, mois par mois de tous les mois de l'année, chaque division de vingt-quatre mille.

This is the list of the Israelite family leaders, commanders of thousands and hundreds, as well as army officers who served the king in various ways. Each military division served month by month throughout the year. Each division had twenty-four thousand men.

2 La première division du premier mois était sous Jasobeam, fils de Zabdiel, et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

Over the division for the first month was Jashobeam son of Zabdiel. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

3 Il était des fils de Pérets, chef de tous les capitaines de service du premier mois.

He was among the descendants of Perez and in charge of all the army officers for the first month.

4 Et la division du second mois était sous Dodaï, l'Ahohïte, et dans sa division Micloth était officier [sous lui], et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

Over the division for the second month was Dodai, from the clan descended from Ahoah. Mikloth was second in rank. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

5 Le général de la troisième division du troisième mois était Benaïa, fils du Prêtre Joïada, chef; et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

The commander of the army for the third month was Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a priest and leader. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

6 Ce Benaïa était un héros entre les Trente et préposé aux Trente, et sa division était [commandée] par Ammizabad, son fils.

This is the Benaiah who was the leader of the thirty, and over the thirty. Ammizabad his son was in his division.

7 Le quatrième du quatrième mois était Asahel, frère de Joab, et Zebadia, son fils, après lui, et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

The commander for the fourth month was Asahel brother of Joab. Zebadiah his son became commander after him. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

8 Le cinquième du cinquième mois, le général était Samehuth, le Jizrahite, et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

The commander for the fifth month was Shamhuth, a descendant of Izrah. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

9 Le sixième du sixième mois était Ira, fils de Ikkès, de Thékôa, et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

The commander for the sixth month was Ira son of Ikkesh, from Tekoa. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

10 Le septième du septième mois était Hélets, le Pelonite, des fils d'Ephraïm, et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

The commander for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, from the people of Ephraim. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

11 Le huitième du huitième mois était Sibchaï, de Husa, des Zarehites, et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

The commander for the eighth month was Sibbekai the Hushathite, from the clan descended from Zerah. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

12 Le neuvième du neuvième mois était Abiézer, d'Anathoth, des Benjaminites, et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

The commander for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anathothite, from the tribe of Benjamin. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

13 Le dixième du dixième mois était Maharaï, de Netophah, des Zarehites, et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

The commander for the tenth month was Maharai from the city of Netophah, from the clan descended from Zerah. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

14 Le onzième du onzième mois était Benaïa, de Pirathon, des fils d'Éphraïm, et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

The commander for the eleventh month was Benaiah from the city of Pirathon, from the tribe of Ephraim. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

15 Le douzième du douzième mois était Heldaï, de Netophah, de [la souche de] Othniel, et sa division était de vingt-quatre mille.

The commander for the twelfth month was Heldai from the city of Netophah, from the clan descended from Othniel. In his division were twenty-four thousand men.

16 Et à la tête des Tribus d'Israël étaient: à la tête des Rubénites, le prince Éliézer, fils de Zichri; des Siméonites, Sephatia, fils de Maacha;

These were the leaders of the tribes of Israel: For the tribe of Reuben, Eliezer son of Zichri was the leader. For the tribe of Simeon, Shephatiah son of Maacah was the leader.

17 des Lévites, Hasabia, fils de Kemuel; de la souche d'Aaron, Tsadoc;

For the tribe of Levi, Hashabiah son of Kemuel was the leader, and Zadok led Aaron's descendants.

18 de Juda, Elihu, des frères de David; d'Issaschar, Omri, fils de Michaël;

For the tribe of Judah, Elihu, one of David's brothers, was the leader. For the tribe of Issachar, Omri son of Michael was the leader.

19 de Zabulon, Jismaïa, fils de Obadia; de Nephthali, Jerimoth, fils d'Azriel;

For the tribe of Zebulun, Ishmaiah son of Obadiah was the leader. For the tribe of Naphtali, Jerimoth son of Azriel was the leader.

20 des fils d'Éphraïm, Hosée, fils de Azazia;

For the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Azaziah was the leader. For the half tribe of Manasseh, Joel son of Pedaiah was the leader.

21 de la demi-Tribu de Manassé, Joël, fils de Pedaïa; de la demi-Tribu de Manassé en Galaad, Iddo, fils de Zacharie; de Benjamin, Jaësiel, fils d'Abner;

For the half tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo son of Zechariah was the leader. For the tribe of Benjamin, Jaasiel son of Abner was the leader.

22 de Dan, Azareël, fils de Jeroham. Tels sont les princes des Tribus d'Israël.

For the tribe of Dan, Azarel son of Jeroham was the leader. These were the leaders of the tribes of Israel.

23 Et David n'admit pas dans le relevé de leur nombre ceux de vingt ans et au-dessous, car l'Éternel avait promis de multiplier les Israélites comme les étoiles du ciel.

David did not count those twenty years old or younger, because Yahweh had promised to increase Israel like the stars of heaven.

24 Joab, fils de Tséruïa, commença le recensement, mais ne l'acheva pas; et cette mesure attira sur Israël la colère [de l'Éternel], et le nombre ne fut pas consigné dans le calcul des Annales du roi David.

Joab son of Zeruiah began to count the men, but did not finish. Wrath fell on Israel for this. This number was not written down in the Chronicles of King David.

25 Et sur les trésors du roi était préposé Azmaveth, fils de Adiel, et sur les approvisionnements dans les campagnes, les villes, les villages et les tours, Jonathan, fils de Uzzia;

Azmaveth son of Adiel was in charge of the king's treasuries. Jonathan son of Uzziah was over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the fortified towers.

26 et sur les agriculteurs pour la culture du sol, Ezri, fils de Chelub;

Ezri son of Kelub was over the farmers, those who plowed the land.

27 et sur les vignes, Siméï, de Rama, et sur les provisions de vin dans les vignes, Zabdi, de Séphem;

Shimei the Ramathite was over the vineyards, and Zabdi the Shiphmite was over the grapes and the wine cellars.

28 et sur les olivaies et les sycomores dans le pays-bas, Baal-Hanan, de Gader; et sur les provisions d'huile, Joas;

Over the olive trees and the sycamore trees that were in the lowlands was Baal-Hanan from Geder, and over the storehouses of oil was Joash.

29 et sur le gros bétail paissant en Saron, Sitraï, de Saron; et sur le bétail des vallées, Saphat, fils d'Adlaï,

Over the herds that were pastured in Sharon was Shitrai from Sharon, and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat son of Adlai.

30 et sur les chameaux, Obil, l'Ismaélite, et sur les ânesses, Jèhedia de Meronath;

Over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite, and over the female donkeys was Jehdeiah from Meronoth. Over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite.

31 et sur le menu bétail, Jaziz, l'Hagarite. Tous ceux-là étaient intendants des biens du roi David.

Jaziz the Hagrite was in charge of the flocks. All these officials were in charge of the property of King David.

32 Et Jonathan, oncle de David, était conseiller, homme intelligent et instruit, et Jehiel, fils de Hachmoni, était auprès des fils du roi.

Jonathan, David's uncle, was an advisor, since he was a wise man and a scribe. Jehiel son of Hakmoni cared for the king's sons.

33 Et Achitophel était conseiller du roi, et Husaï, d'Érech, ami du roi;

Ahithophel was the king's advisor, and Hushai from the Arkite people was the king's private advisor.

34 à la suite d'Achitophel étaient Joïada, fils de Benaïa, et Abiathar; et le roi avait pour général d'armée Joab.

Ahithophel's position was taken by Jehoiada son of Benaiah, and by Abiathar. Joab was commander of the king's army.
