Job 16
1 Mais Job répondit, et dit:
Then Job answered and said,
2 J'ai souvent entendu de pareils discours; vous [êtes] tous des consolateurs fâcheux.
I have heard many such things: miserable comforters [are] ye all.
3 N'y aura-t-il point de fin à des paroles légères comme le vent, et de quoi te fais-tu fort pour répliquer ainsi?
Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?
4 Parlerais-je comme vous faites, si vous étiez en ma place; amasserais-je des paroles contre vous, ou branlerais-je ma tête contre vous?
I also could speak as ye [do: ] if your soul were in my soul’s stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.
5 Je vous fortifierais par mes discours, et le mouvement de mes lèvres soulagerait [votre douleur].
[But] I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage [your grief].
6 Si je parle, ma douleur n'en sera point soulagée; et si je me tais, qu'en aurai-je moins?
Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and [though] I forbear, what am I eased?
7 Certes, il m'a maintenant accablé; tu as désolé toute ma troupe;
But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.
8 Tu m'as tout couvert de rides, qui sont un témoignage [des maux que je souffre]; et il s'est élevé en moi une maigreur qui en rend aussi témoignage sur mon visage.
And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, [which] is a witness [against me: ] and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.
9 Sa fureur [m']a déchiré, il s'est déclaré mon ennemi, il grince les dents sur moi, et étant devenu mon ennemi il étincelle des yeux contre moi.
He teareth [me] in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
10 Ils ouvrent leur bouche contre moi, ils me donnent des soufflets sur la joue pour me faire outrage, ils s'amassent ensemble contre moi.
They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.
11 Le [Dieu] Fort m'a renfermé chez l'injuste, il m'a fait tomber entre les mains des méchants.
God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.
12 J'étais en repos, et il m'a écrasé; il m'a saisi au collet, et m'a brisé, et il s'est fait de moi une bute.
I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken [me] by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.
13 Ses archers m'ont environné, il me perce les reins, et ne m'épargne point; il répand mon fiel par terre.
His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.
14 Il m'a brisé en me faisant plaie sur plaie, il a couru sur moi comme un homme puissant.
He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.
15 J'ai cousu un sac sur ma peau, et j'ai terni ma gloire dans la poussière.
I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.
16 Mon visage est couvert de boue à force de pleurer, et une ombre de mort est sur mes paupières;
My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids [is] the shadow of death;
17 Quoiqu'il n'y ait point d'iniquité en mes mains, et que ma prière soit pure.
Not for [any] injustice in mine hands: also my prayer [is] pure.
18 Ô terre! ne cache point le sang répandu par moi; et qu'il n'y ait point de lieu pour mon cri.
O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.
19 Mais maintenant voilà, mon témoin est aux cieux, mon témoin est dans les lieux hauts.
Also now, behold, my witness [is] in heaven, and my record [is] on high.
20 Mes amis sont des harangueurs; mais mon œil fond en larmes devant Dieu.
My friends scorn me: [but] mine eye poureth out [tears] unto God.
21 Ô si l'homme raisonnait avec Dieu comme un homme avec son intime ami!
O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man [pleadeth] for his neighbour!
22 Car les années de mon compte vont [finir], et j'entre dans un sentier d'où je ne reviendrai plus.
When a few years are come, then I shall go the way [whence] I shall not return.
