Psaumes 27

1 De David. Le Seigneur est ma lumière et mon salut: de qui aurais-je peur? Le Seigneur est le rempart qui protège ma vie: qui redouterais-je?

[A Psalm] of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 Quand des malfaiteurs m’approchent pour dévorer ma chair mes adversaires et mes ennemis qui me guettent ce sont eux qui bronchent et tombent.

When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, [even] mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

3 Qu’une armée prenne position contre moi, mon cœur n’éprouve aucune crainte; que la guerre fasse rage contre moi, même alors je garde ma confiance.

Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, even then will I be confident.

4 Il est une chose que je demande au Seigneur, que je réclame instamment, c’est de séjourner dans la maison de l’Eternel tous les jours de ma vie, de contempler la splendeur de l’Eternel et de fréquenter son sanctuaire.

One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.

5 Car, au jour du malheur, il m’abriterait sous son pavillon, il me cacherait dans la retraite de sa tente, il me ferait monter sur un rocher.

For in the day of trouble he shall keep me secretly in his pavilion: in the covert of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall lift me up upon a rock.

6 Dès à présent je porte le front haut en face des ennemis qui m’entourent; je vais immoler, dans sa demeure, des sacrifices de triomphe, je vais chanter, célébrer le Seigneur.

And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me; and I will offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

7 Ecoute, Seigneur, ma voix qui t’appelle, sois-moi propice et exauce-moi!

Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

8 En ton nom mon cœur dit: "Recherchez ma face!" c’est ta face que je recherche, ô Seigneur!

[When thou saidst], Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

9 Ne me cache point ta face; ne repousse pas ton serviteur avec colère: tu es mon soutien. Ne me délaisse ni ne m’abandonne, Dieu de mon salut.

Hide not thy face from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 Car père et mère m’ont laissé là, mais l’Eternel me recueillera.

For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will take me up.

11 Guide-moi, Eternel, dans tes voies, dirige-moi dans le droit chemin, à cause de ceux qui me regardent de travers.

Teach me thy way, O LORD; and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

12 Ne me livre pas à la fureur de mes adversaires, car ils se dressent contre moi, les témoins mensongers, ceux qui soufflent la violence.

Deliver me not over unto the will of mine adversaries: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

13 Ah! si je n’avais la certitude de voir la bonté de Dieu sur la terre des vivants!…

[I had fainted], unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

14 Espère en l’Eternel, courage! que ton cœur soit ferme! oui, espère en l’Eternel!

Wait on the LORD: be strong, and let thine heart take courage; yea, wait thou on the LORD.
