Lévitique 20

1 L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:

And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

2 "Quant aux enfants d’Israël, tu leur diras: Quiconque, parmi les Israélites ou les étrangers séjournant en Israël, livrerait quelqu’un de sa postérité à Molokh, doit être mis à mort: le peuple du pays le tuera à coups de pierres.

Moreover, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.

3 Moi-même je dirigerai mon regard sur cet homme, et je le retrancherai du milieu de son peuple, parce qu’il a donné de sa postérité à Molokh, souillant ainsi mon sanctuaire et avilissant mon nom sacré.

I also will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name.

4 Et si le peuple du pays ose fermer les yeux sur la conduite de cet homme, qui aurait donné de sa postérité à Molokh, et qu’on ne le fasse point mourir,

And if the people of the land do at all hide their eyes from that man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, and put him not to death;

5 ce sera moi alors qui appliquerai mon regard sur cet homme et sur son engeance, et je retrancherai avec lui, du milieu de leur peuple, tous ceux qui, entraînés par lui, se seraient abandonnés au culte de Molokh.

then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that play the harlot after him, to play the harlot with Molech, from among their people.

6 Pour la personne qui aurait recours aux évocations, aux sortilèges, et s’abandonnerait à ces pratiques, je dirigerai mon regard sur cette personne, et je la supprimerai du milieu de son peuple.

And the soul that turneth unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto the wizards, to play the harlot after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

7 Sanctifiez vous et soyez saints, car je suis l’Éternel votre Dieu.

Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy; for I am Jehovah your God.

8 Observez mes lois et les exécutez: je suis l’Éternel qui vous sanctifie.

And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am Jehovah who sanctifieth you.

9 Or, tout homme qui aura maudit son père ou sa mère, doit être mis à mort: il a maudit son père ou sa mère, il a mérité son supplice.

For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall surely be put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.

10 Si un homme commet un adultère avec la femme d’un autre homme, avec la femme de son prochain, l’homme et la femme adultères doivent être mis à mort.

And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

11 Si un homme cohabite avec la femme de son père, c’est la nudité de son père qu’il a découverte: qu’ils soient mis à mort l’un et l’autre, ils ont mérité leur supplice.

And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

12 Si un homme cohabite avec sa bru, que tous deux soient mis à mort: Ils ont agi désordonnément, ils ont mérité leur supplice.

And if a man lie with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them.

13 Si un individu cohabite avec un mâle, d’une cohabitation sexuelle, c’est une abomination qu’ils ont commise tous les deux; qu’ils soient punis de mort, leur supplice est mérité.

And if a man lie with mankind, as with womankind, both of them have committed abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

14 Celui qui épouse une femme et sa mère, c’est une Impudicité: on les fera périr par le feu, lui et elles, pour qu’il n’y ait point d’impudicité parmi vous.

And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you.

15 Un homme qui s’accouplerait avec un animal doit être mis à mort, et l’animal, vous le tuerez;

And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast.

16 et une femme qui s’approcherait de quelque animal pour qu’il s’accouple avec elle, tu la tueras ainsi que l’animai: ils doivent être mis à mort, leur supplice est mérité.

And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

17 Si un homme épouse sa sœur, fille de son père ou fille de sa mère, qu’il voie sa nudité et qu’elle voie la sienne, c’est un inceste, et ils seront exterminés à la vue de leurs concitoyens: il a découvert la nudité de sa sœur, il en portera la peine.

And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a shameful thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of the children of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.

18 Si un homme cohabite avec une femme qui souffre du flux, et découvre sa nudité, Il a mis à nu la source de son sang, et elle-même a dévoilé cette source; lis seront retranchés, tous deux, du sein de leur peuple.

And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath made naked her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.

19 Tu ne découvriras point la nudité de la sœur de ta mère ni de la sœur de ton père; car c’est dévoiler la nudité de sa parente: ils doivent en porter la peine.

And thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister, nor of thy father’s sister; for he hath made naked his near kin: they shall bear their iniquity.

20 Celui oui cohabite avec sa tante, a découvert la nudité de son oncle; ils doivent expier leur péché, ils mourront sans lignée.

And if a man shall lie with his uncle’s wife, he hath uncovered his uncle’s nakedness: they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless.

21 Et si quelqu’un épouse la femme de son frère, c’est une impureté; il a découvert la nudité de son frère, ils demeureront sans lignée.

And if a man shall take his brother’s wife, it is impurity: he hath uncovered his brother’s nakedness; they shall be childless.

22 Observez donc toutes mes lois et tous mes statuts, et les exécutez, afin qu’il ne vous rejette point, ce pays où je vous mène pour vous y établir.

Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all mine ordinances, and do them; that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, vomit you not out.

23 N’Adoptez point les lois de la nation que je chasse à cause de vous; car ils ont fait toutes ces choses, et je les ai pris en aversion,

And ye shall not walk in the customs of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they did all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.

24 et je vous ai dit: c’est vous qui prendrez possession de leur sol, et moi je vous le donnerai pour que vous en soyez possesseurs, ce pays ruisselant de lait et de miel. Je suis l’Éternel votre Dieu, qui vous ai distingués entre les peuples.

But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey: I am Jehovah your God, who hath separated you from the peoples.

25 Distinguez donc le quadrupède pur de l’impur, et l’oiseau impur d’avec le pur; ne souillez pas vos personnes par les quadrupèdes, les oiseaux et les différents reptiles de la terre, que je vous ai fait distinguer en les déclarant impurs.

Ye shall therefore make a distinction between the clean beast and the unclean, and between the unclean fowl and the clean: and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by bird, or by anything wherewith the ground teemeth, which I have separated from you as unclean.

26 Soyez saints pour moi, car je suis saint, moi l’Éternel, et je vous ai séparés d’avec les peuples pour que vous soyez à moi.

And ye shall be holy unto me: for I, Jehovah, am holy, and have set you apart from the peoples, that ye should be mine.

27 Un homme ou une femme chez qui serait constatée une évocation ou un sortilège devront être mis à mort; on les lapidera: ils ont mérité leur supplice."

A man also or a woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones; their blood shall be upon them.
