Lévitique 16
1 L’Éternel parla à Moïse, après la mort des deux fils d’Aaron, qui, s’étant avancés devant l’Éternel, avaient péri,
The LORD spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they came near before the LORD, and died;
2 et il dit à Moïse: "Signifie à Aaron, ton frère, qu’Il ne peut entrer à toute heure dans le sanctuaire, dans l’enceinte du voile, devant le propitiatoire qui est sur l’arche, s’il ne veut encourir la mort; car je me manifeste, dans un nuage, au-dessus du propitiatoire.
and the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Most Holy Place within the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark; lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat.
3 Voici comment Aaron entrera dans le sanctuaire: avec un jeune taureau comme expiatoire, et un bélier comme holocauste.
“Aaron shall come into the sanctuary with a young bull for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.
4 Il sera vêtu d’une tunique de lin consacrée, un caleçon de lin couvrira sa chair; une écharpe de lin le ceindra, et une tiare de lin sera sa coiffure. C’Est un costume sacré, il doit se baigner dans l’eau avant de s’en vêtir.
He shall put on the holy linen tunic. He shall have the linen trousers on his body, and shall put on the linen sash, and he shall be clothed with the linen turban. They are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water, and put them on.
5 De la part de la communauté des enfants d’Israël, II prendra deux boucs pour l’expiation et un bélier comme holocauste.
He shall take from the congregation of the children of Israel two male goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
6 Et Aaron amènera le taureau expiatoire qui lui est destiné, afin d’obtenir grâce pour lui-même et pour sa maison.
“Aaron shall offer the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house.
7 Et II prendra les deux boucs et les présentera devant le Seigneur, à l’entrée de la Tente d’assignation.
He shall take the two goats, and set them before the LORD at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
8 Aaron tirera au sort pour les deux boucs: un lot sera pour l’Éternel, un lot pour Azazel.
Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
9 Aaron devra offrir le bouc que le sort aura désigné pour l’Éternel, et le traiter comme expiatoire;
Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for the LORD, and offer him for a sin offering.
10 et le bouc que le sort aura désigné pour Azazel devra être placé, vivant, devant le Seigneur, pour servir à la propitiation, pour être envoyé à Azazel dans le désert.
But the goat on which the lot fell for the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make atonement for him, to send him away as the scapegoat into the wilderness.
11 Aaron offrira son taureau expiatoire, fera propitiation pour lui-même et pour sa famille, et Immolera son taureau expiatoire.
“Aaron shall present the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the sin offering which is for himself.
12 Il remplira l’encensoir de charbons ardents, pris sur l’autel qui est devant le Seigneur; prendra deux pleines poignées d’aromates pilés menu, et introduira le tout dans l’enceinte du voile.
He shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil.
13 II jettera le fumigatoire sur le feu, devant le Seigneur, de sorte que le nuage aromatique enveloppe le propitiatoire qui abrite le Statut, et qu’il ne meure point.
He shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the covenant, so that he will not die.
14 Alors il prendra du sang du taureau, en fera aspersion avec le doigt sur la face du propitiatoire, vers l’orient; et devant le propitiatoire, Il fera sept fois aspersion de ce sang avec le doigt.
He shall take some of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east; and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.
15 Il immolera le bouc expiatoire du peuple, en portera le sang dans l’enceinte du voile, et, procédant â son égard comme il aura fait pour le sang du taureau, Il en fera aspersion au-dessus du propitiatoire, et en avant du propitiatoire.
“Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat.
16 II purifiera ainsi le sanctuaire des souillures des enfants d’Israël, et de leurs transgressions et de toutes leurs fautes; et il agira de même pour la Tente d’assignation, qui réside avec eux, parmi leurs souillures.
He shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins; and so he shall do for the Tent of Meeting that dwells with them in the middle of their uncleanness.
17 Que personne ne soit dans la Tente d’assignation lorsqu’il entrera pour faire propitiation dans le sanctuaire, jusqu’à sa sortie. Ayant ainsi fait propitiation pour lui-même, pour sa maison et pour toute l’assemblée d’Israël,
No one shall be in the Tent of Meeting when he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, and has made atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel.
18 il s’en ira vers l’autel qui est devant le Seigneur, pour en faire la propitiation: il prendra du sang du taureau et de celui du bouc, en appliquera sur les cornes de l’autel, tout autour,
“He shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the bull’s blood, and some of the goat’s blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar.
19 et fera de ce sang, avec son doigt, sept aspersions sur l’autel, qu’il purifiera et sanctifiera ainsi des souillures des enfants d’Israël.
He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and make it holy from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
20 Quand il aura achevé de purifier le sanctuaire, la Tente d’assignation et l’autel, il fera amener le bouc vivant.
“When he has finished atoning for the Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat.
21 Aaron appuiera ses deux mains sur la tête du bouc vivant; confessera, dans cette posture, toutes les iniquités des enfants d’Israël, toutes leurs offenses et tous leurs péchés, et, les ayant ainsi fait passer sur la tête du bouc, l’enverra, sous la conduite d’un exprès, dans le désert.
Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them on the head of the goat, and shall send him away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is ready.
22 Et le bouc emportera sur lui toutes leurs iniquités dans une contrée solitaire, et on lâchera le bouc dans ce désert.
The goat shall carry all their iniquities on himself to a solitary land, and he shall release the goat in the wilderness.
23 Aaron rentrera dans la Tente d’assignation; puis il dépouillera les vêtements de lin dont il s’était vêtu pour entrer dans le sanctuaire, et les y déposera.
“Aaron shall come into the Tent of Meeting, and shall take off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there.
24 II baignera son corps dans l’eau, en lieu saint, et revêtira son costume; s’en ira offrir son holocauste et celui du peuple, et fera propitiation pour lui-même et pour le peuple.
Then he shall bathe himself in water in a holy place, put on his garments, and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.
25 La graisse de l’expiatoire, il la fera fumer sur l’autel.
The fat of the sin offering he shall burn on the altar.
26 Pour celui qui aura conduit le bouc vers Azazel, il lavera ses vêtements, baignera son corps dans l’eau, et alors seulement rentrera au camp.
“He who lets the goat go as the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
27 Le taureau expiatoire et le bouc expiatoire, dont le sang aura été introduit, pour la propitiation, dans le sanctuaire, on les transportera hors du camp, et l’on consumera par le feu leur peau, leur chair et leur fiente.
The bull for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be carried outside the camp; and they shall burn their skins, their flesh, and their dung with fire.
28 Celui qui les aura brûlés lavera ses vêtements, baignera son corps dans l’eau, et alors seulement rentrera au camp.
He who burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
29 Et ceci sera pour vous une loi perpétuelle: au septième mois, le dixième jour du mois, vous mortifierez vos personnes et ne ferez aucun ouvrage, soit l’indigène, soit l’étranger séjournant parmi vous.
“It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no kind of work, whether native-born or a stranger who lives as a foreigner amongst you;
30 Car en ce jour, on fera propitiation sur vous afin de vous purifier; vous serez purs de tous vos péchés devant l’Éternel.
for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you. You shall be clean from all your sins before the LORD.
31 C’Est pour vous un sabbat, un sabbat solennel, où vous devez mortifier vos personnes: loi perpétuelle.
It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a statute forever.
32 La propitiation sera accomplie par le pontife qu’on aura oint et installé pour succéder, comme tel, à son père; il revêtira le costume de lin, le costume sacré,
The priest, who is anointed and who is consecrated to be priest in his father’s place, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments.
33 et il fera propitiation pour le saint sanctuaire, propitiation pour la Tente d’assignation et pour l’autel, propitiation en faveur des pontifes et de tout le peuple réuni.
Then he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the Tent of Meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.
34 Que cela soit pour vous un statut perpétuel, afin de relever les enfants d’Israël de tous leurs péchés, une fois l’année." Et il agit comme l’Éternel l’avait ordonné à Moïse.
“This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the children of Israel once in the year because of all their sins.” It was done as the LORD commanded Moses.
