Isaïe 11

1 Or, un rameau sortira de la souche de Jessé, un rejeton poussera de ses racines.

And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit:

2 Et sur lui reposera l’esprit du Seigneur: esprit de sagesse et d’intelligence, esprit de conseil et de force, esprit de science et de crainte de Dieu.

And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

3 Animé ainsi de la crainte de Dieu, il ne jugera point selon ce que ses yeux croiront voir, il ne décidera pas selon ce que ses oreilles auront entendu.

And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

4 Mais il jugera les faibles avec justice, il rendra des arrêts équitables en faveur des humbles du pays; du sceptre de sa parole il frappera les violents et du souffle de ses lèvres il fera mourir le méchant.

but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

5 La justice sera la ceinture de ses reins, et la loyauté l’écharpe de ses flancs.

And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

6 Alors le loup habitera avec la brebis, et le tigre reposera avec le chevreau; veau, lionceau et bélier vivront ensemble, et un jeune enfant les conduira.

And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

7 Génisse et ourse paîtront côte à côte, ensemble s’ébattront leurs petits; et le lion, comme le bœuf, se nourrira de paille.

And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

8 Le nourrisson jouera près du nid de la vipère, et le nouveau-sevré avancera la main dans le repaire de l’aspic.

And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the basilisk’s den.

9 Plus de méfaits, plus de violences sur toute ma sainte montagne; car la terre sera pleine de la connaissance de Dieu, comme l’eau abonde dans le lit des mers.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

10 En ce jour-là, il y aura un rejeton de Jessé, qui se dressera comme la bannière des peuples; les nations se tourneront vers lui, et sa résidence sera entourée de gloire.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the root of Jesse, which standeth for an ensign of the peoples, unto him shall the nations seek; and his resting place shall be glorious.

11 Et en ce jour-là, le Seigneur étendra une seconde fois la main pour reprendre possession du reste de son peuple, qui aura échappé à l’Assyrie, à l’Egypte, à Patros, à Kouch, à Elâm, à Sennaar; à Hamat et aux îles de la mer.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall remain, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

12 Il lèvera l’étendard vers les nations pour recueillir les exilés d’Israël et rassembler les débris épars de Juda des quatre coins de la terre.

And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

13 Alors cessera la rivalité d’Ephraïm et les haineux dans Juda disparaîtront: Ephraïm ne jalousera plus Juda, et Juda ne sera plus hostile à Ephraïm.

The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and they that vex Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

14 Mais ils fondront de concert sur les Philistins, au couchant; ensemble ils dépouilleront les fils de l’Orient. Ils feront main basse sur Edom et Moab, et les enfants d’Ammon recevront leurs ordres.

And they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines on the west; together shall they spoil the children of the east: they shall put forth their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

15 Et l’Eternel imprimera l’anathème au Golfe égyptien; de sa main, de son souffle impétueux, il frappera le grand fleuve, et il le divisera en sept ruisseaux, où l’on marchera à pied sec.

And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his scorching wind shall he shake his hand over the River, and shall smite it into seven streams, and cause men to march over dryshod.

16 Et ce sera une chaussée pour le reste de son peuple, échappé à l’Assyrie, comme il y en eut une pour Israël le jour où il sortit du pays d’Egypte.

And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall remain, from Assyria; like as there was for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
