Ézéchiel 13

1 Et la parole de l’Éternel vint à moi, disant:

And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

2 Fils d’homme, prophétise contre les prophètes d’Israël qui prophétisent, et dis à ceux qui prophétisent d’après leur propre cœur: Écoutez la parole de l’Éternel!

Son of man, be a prophet against the prophets of Israel, and say to those prophets whose words are the invention of their hearts, Give ear to the word of the Lord;

3 Ainsi dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Malheur aux prophètes insensés qui suivent leur propre esprit et n’ont rien vu!

This is what the Lord has said: A curse on the foolish prophets who go after the spirit which is in them and have seen nothing!

4 Israël, tes prophètes ont été comme des renards dans les lieux déserts.

O Israel, your prophets have been like jackals in the waste places.

5 Vous n’êtes point montés aux brèches, et vous n’avez pas fermé l’enceinte pour la maison d’Israël, afin de tenir ferme dans la bataille, au jour de l’Éternel.

You have not gone up into the broken places or made up the wall for the children of Israel to take your place in the fight in the day of the Lord.

6 Ils ont eu des visions de vanité et de divination de mensonge, ceux qui disent: L’Éternel a dit! et l’Éternel ne les a pas envoyés; et ils font espérer que la parole dite sera accomplie!

They have seen visions without substance and made use of secret arts, who say, The Lord has said; and the Lord has not sent them: hoping that the word would have effect.

7 N’avez-vous pas vu des visions de vanité et prononcé des divinations de mensonge, quand vous dites: L’Éternel a dit! – et je n’ai point parlé?

Have you not seen a vision without substance and have you not falsely made use of secret arts, when you say, The Lord has said; though I have said nothing?

8 C’est pourquoi, ainsi dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Parce que vous dites des choses vaines, et que vous avez eu des visions de mensonge, à cause de cela, voici, je suis contre vous, dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel.

So this is what the Lord has said: Because your words are without substance and your visions are false, see, I am against you, says the Lord.

9 Et ma main sera sur les prophètes qui ont des visions de vanité et qui devinent le mensonge: ils ne seront pas dans l’assemblée de mon peuple, et ils ne seront pas écrits dans le registre de la maison d’Israël, et ils n’entreront pas dans la terre d’Israël; et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur, l’Éternel.

And my hand will be against the prophets who see visions without substance and who make false use of secret arts: they will not be in the secret of my people, and they will not be recorded in the list of the children of Israel, and they will not come into the land of Israel; and it will be clear to you that I am the Lord.

10 Parce que, oui, parce qu’ils égarent mon peuple, disant: Paix! et il n’y a point de paix; et que, si celui-ci bâtit un mur, ceux-là l’enduisent de mauvais mortier,

Because, even because they have been guiding my people into error, saying, Peace; when there is no peace; and in the building of a division wall they put whitewash on it:

11 dis à ceux qui enduisent le mur de mauvais mortier, qu’il s’écroulera: il y aura une pluie torrentielle; et vous, pierres de grêle, vous tomberez, et un vent de tempête éclatera.

Say to those who put whitewash on it, There will be an overflowing shower; and you, O ice-drops, will come raining down; and it will be broken in two by the storm-wind.

12 Et voici, quand le mur s’écroulera, ne vous sera-t-il pas dit: Où est l’enduit dont vous l’avez enduit?

And when the wall has come down, will they not say to you, Where is the whitewash which you put on it?

13 C’est pourquoi, ainsi dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Je ferai éclater, dans ma fureur, un vent de tempête; et, dans ma colère, il y aura une pluie torrentielle, et, dans ma fureur, des pierres de grêle, pour détruire entièrement.

For this reason, the Lord has said: I will have it broken in two by a storm-wind in my passion; and there will be an overflowing shower in my wrath, and you, O ice-drops, will come raining angrily down.

14 Et je renverserai le mur que vous avez enduit de mauvais mortier, et je le jetterai par terre, et ses fondements seront découverts, et il croulera, et vous périrez au milieu de ses ruines; et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel.

So I will let the wall, which you were covering with whitewash, be broken down; I will have it levelled to the earth so that its base is uncovered: it will come down, and destruction will come on you with it; and it will be clear to you that I am the Lord.

15 Et je consommerai ma fureur contre ce mur et contre ceux qui l’enduisent de mauvais mortier; et je vous dirai: Le mur n’est plus, ni ceux qui l’enduisaient,

So I will let loose my passion on the wall in full measure, and on those who put whitewash on it; and I will say to you, Where is the wall, and where are those who put whitewash on it?

16 les prophètes d’Israël qui prophétisent touchant Jérusalem, et qui voient pour elle une vision de paix, et il n’y a point de paix, dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel.

Even the prophets of Israel who say words to Jerusalem, who see visions of peace for her when there is no peace, says the Lord.

17 Et toi, fils d’homme, tourne ta face contre les filles de ton peuple qui prophétisent d’après leur propre cœur, et prophétise contre elles,

And you, son of man, let your face be turned against the daughters of your people, who are acting the part of prophets at their pleasure; be a prophet against them, and say,

18 et dis: Ainsi dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Malheur à celles qui cousent des coussinets pour toutes les jointures des mains, et qui font des voiles pour la tête [des gens] de toute taille, afin de prendre au piège des âmes! Voulez-vous prendre au piège les âmes de mon peuple et vous conserver la vie à vous-mêmes?

This is what the Lord has said: A curse is on the women who are stitching bands on all arms and putting veils on the heads of those of every size, so that they may go after souls! Will you go after the souls of my people and keep yourselves safe from death?

19 Et me profaneriez-vous auprès de mon peuple pour des poignées d’orge et pour des morceaux de pain, afin de faire mourir les âmes qui ne devaient pas mourir, et pour faire vivre les âmes qui ne devaient pas vivre, en mentant à mon peuple qui écoute le mensonge?

And you have put me to shame among my people for a little barley and some bits of bread, sending death on souls for whom there is no cause of death, and keeping those souls living who have no right to life, by the false words you say to my people who give ear to what is false.

20 C’est pourquoi, ainsi dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Voici, j’en veux à vos coussinets pour que les âmes, que par eux vous prenez au piège, s’envolent; et je les arracherai de dessus vos bras, et je ferai échapper les âmes que vous prenez au piège, les âmes, … afin qu’elles s’envolent;

For this cause the Lord has said: See, I am against your bands with which you go after souls, and I will violently take them off their arms; and I will let loose the souls, even the souls whom you go after freely.

21 et je déchirerai vos voiles, et je délivrerai mon peuple de vos mains, et ils ne seront plus en vos mains pour les prendre au piège; et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel.

And I will have your veils violently parted in two, and will make my people free from your hands, and they will no longer be in your power for you to go after them; and you will be certain that I am the Lord.

22 Parce que vous avez chagriné par la fausseté le cœur du juste, que moi je n’ai pas attristé, et parce que vous avez fortifié les mains du méchant, pour qu’il ne se détourne pas de ses mauvaises voies afin de sauver sa vie,

Because with your false words you have given pain to the heart of the upright man when I had not made him sad; in order to make strong the hands of the evil-doer so that he may not be turned from his evil way and get life:

23 à cause de cela, vous n’aurez plus de visions de vanité et vous ne pratiquerez plus la divination; et je délivrerai mon peuple de vos mains, et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel.

For this cause you will see no more foolish visions or make false use of secret arts: and I will make my people free from your power; and you will be certain that I am the Lord.
