2 Chroniques 25

1 Amatsia était âgé de 25 ans lorsqu’il commença de régner; et il régna 29 ans à Jérusalem; et le nom de sa mère était Jehoaddan, de Jérusalem.

Forsothe Amasie, `his sone, regnede for hym; Amasie was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnyde nyne and twenti yeer in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Joiaden, of Jerusalem.

2 Et il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l’Éternel, non pas toutefois d’un cœur parfait.

And he dide good in the siyt of the Lord, netheles not in perfit herte.

3 Et il arriva que, quand la royauté fut affermie entre ses mains, il fit mourir ses serviteurs qui avaient frappé le roi son père.

And whanne he siy the empire strengthid to hym silf, he stranglide the seruauntis, that killiden the kyng, his fadir;

4 Mais leurs fils, il ne les mit pas à mort, car [il fit] selon ce qui est écrit dans la loi, dans le livre de Moïse, où l’Éternel a commandé, disant: Les pères ne mourront pas pour les fils, et les fils ne mourront pas pour les pères; car chacun mourra pour son péché.

but he killide not the sones of hem; as it is writun in the book of the lawe of Moises, where the Lord comaundide, seiynge, Fadris schulen not be slayn for the sones, nether the sones for her fadris; but ech man schal die in his owne synne.

5 Et Amatsia rassembla Juda, et il les rangea selon [leurs] maisons de pères, selon les chefs de milliers, et selon les chefs de centaines, pour tout Juda et Benjamin; et il fit le recensement de ceux qui étaient âgés de 20 ans et au-dessus: et il trouva 300 000 hommes d’élite, propres pour la guerre, portant la pique et le bouclier.

Therfor Amasie gaderide togidere Juda, and ordeynede hem bi meynees and tribunes and centuriouns, in al Juda and Beniamyn; and he noumbride fro twenti yeer and aboue, and he foonde thritti thousynde of yonge men, that yeden out to batel, and helden spere and scheeld.

6 Et il prit à sa solde, d’Israël, 100 000 hommes forts et vaillants, pour 100 talents d’argent.

Also for mede he hiride of Israel an hundrid thousynde of stronge men, for an hundrid talentis of siluer, that thei schulden fiyte ayens the sones of Edom.

7 Et un homme de Dieu vint à lui, disant: Ô roi! que l’armée d’Israël ne marche pas avec toi; car l’Éternel n’est pas avec Israël, avec tous les fils d’Éphraïm.

Forsothe a man of God cam to hym, and seide, A! kyng, the oost of Israel go not out with thee, for the Lord is not with Israel and with alle the sones of Effraym;

8 Que si tu vas, fais-le, fortifie-toi pour la bataille; Dieu te fera tomber devant l’ennemi; car c’est en Dieu qu’est le pouvoir pour aider et pour faire tomber.

for if thou gessist that batels stonden in the myyt of oost, the Lord schal make thee to be ouercomun of enemyes, for it is of God for to helpe, and to turne in to fliyt.

9 Et Amatsia dit à l’homme de Dieu: Mais que faire quant aux 100 talents que j’ai donnés à la troupe d’Israël? Et l’homme de Dieu dit: Il appartient à l’Éternel de te donner beaucoup plus que cela.

And Amasie seide to the man of God, What therfor schal be doon of the hundrid talentis, which Y yaf to the knyytis of Israel? And the man of God answeride to hym, The Lord hath, wherof he may yelde to thee myche mo thingis than these.

10 Et Amatsia sépara la troupe qui lui était venue d’Éphraïm, afin qu’ils s’en aillent chez eux; et leur colère s’embrasa beaucoup contre Juda, et ils s’en retournèrent chez eux dans une ardente colère.

Therfor Amasie departide the oost that cam to hym fro Effraym, that it schulde turne ayen in to his place; and thei weren wrooth greetli ayens Juda, and turneden ayen in to her cuntrei.

11 Et Amatsia se fortifia, et conduisit son peuple, et s’en alla à la vallée du Sel, et frappa 10 000 [hommes] des fils de Séhir.

Forsothe Amasie ledde out tristili his puple, and yede in to the valei of makyngis of salt, and he killide of the sones of Seir ten thousynde.

12 Et les fils de Juda emmenèrent captifs 10 000 hommes, vivants, et les menèrent sur le sommet d’un rocher, et les précipitèrent du sommet du rocher, et ils furent tous mis en pièces.

And the sones of Juda token othere ten thousynde of men, and brouyten to the hiy scarre of summe stoon; and castiden hem doun fro the hiyeste in to the pit; whiche alle braken.

13 Mais ceux de la troupe qu’Amatsia avait renvoyée, afin qu’elle n’aille pas à la guerre avec lui, tombèrent sur les villes de Juda, depuis Samarie jusqu’à Beth-Horon, et y frappèrent 3 000 [hommes] et enlevèrent un grand butin.

And thilke oost whom Amasie hadde sent ayen, that it schulde not go with him to batel, was spred abrood in the citees of Juda fro Samarie `til to Betheron; and aftir `that it hadde slayn thre thousynde, it took awey a greet preie.

14 Et il arriva, après qu’Amatsia fut revenu de la défaite des Édomites, qu’il apporta les dieux des fils de Séhir, et se les établit pour dieux, et se prosterna devant eux et leur brûla de l’encens.

And Amasie, after the sleyng of Idumeis, and after that he hadde brouyt the goddis of the sones of Seir, ordeynede hem `in to goddis to hym silf, and worschipide hem, and brente encense to hem.

15 Et la colère de l’Éternel s’embrasa contre Amatsia, et il lui envoya un prophète, et il lui dit: Pourquoi recherches-tu les dieux d’un peuple qui n’ont pas délivré leur peuple de ta main?

Wherfor the Lord was wrooth ayens Amasie, and sente to hym a profete, that seide to hym, Whi worschipist thou goddis that `delyueriden not her puple fro thin hond?

16 Et il arriva, comme il parlait au roi, que celui-ci lui dit: Est-ce qu’on t’a fait conseiller du roi? Désiste-toi. Pourquoi te frapperait-on? Et le prophète se désista, et dit: Je sais que Dieu a résolu de te perdre, parce que tu as fait cela, et que tu n’as pas écouté mon conseil.

Whanne the profete spak these thingis, Amasie answeride to hym, Whether thou art a counselour of the king? ceesse thou, lest perauenture Y sle thee. Therfor the profete yede awei, and seide, Y woot, that the Lord thouyte to sle thee; for thou didist this yuel, and ferthermore thou assentidist not to my counsel.

17 Et Amatsia, roi de Juda, prit conseil, et envoya vers Joas, fils de Joakhaz, fils de Jéhu, roi d’Israël, disant: Viens, voyons-nous face à face.

Therfor Amasie, the king of Juda, whanne he hadde take a ful yuel counsel, sente to the kyng of Israel Joas, the sone of Joachaz, the sone of Hieu, and seide, Come thou, se we vs togidere.

18 Et Joas, roi d’Israël, envoya vers Amatsia, roi de Juda, disant: L’épine qui est au Liban a envoyé au cèdre qui est au Liban, disant: Donne ta fille pour femme à mon fils. Et une bête des champs qui est au Liban a passé, et a foulé l’épine.

And he sente ayen messangeris, and seide, A `cardue, ether a tasil, which is in the Liban sente to the cedre of the Liban, and seide, Yyue thi douyter a wijf to my sone; and lo! beestis that weren in the wode of the Liban yeden and defouliden the cardue.

19 Tu dis: Voici, tu as frappé Édom! et ton cœur s’est élevé pour que tu te glorifies. Maintenant, reste dans ta maison; pourquoi te mettrais-tu aux prises avec le malheur et tomberais-tu, toi, et Juda avec toi?

Thou seidist, Y haue smyte Edom, and therfor thin herte is reysid in to pride; sitte thou in thin hows; whi stirist thou yuel ayens thee, that thou falle, and Juda with thee?

20 Et Amatsia n’écouta pas; car cela venait de la part de Dieu, afin de les livrer en la main [de leurs ennemis], parce qu’ils avaient recherché les dieux d’Édom.

Amasie nolde here, for it was the wille of the Lord, that he schulde be bitakun in to the hondis of enemyes, for the goddis of Edom.

21 Et Joas, roi d’Israël, monta; et ils se virent face à face, lui et Amatsia, roi de Juda, à Beth-Shémesh, qui est à Juda.

Therfor Joas, kyng of Israel, stiede, and thei siyen hem silf togidere. Sotheli Amasie, the kyng of Juda, was in Bethsames of Juda;

22 Et Juda fut battu devant Israël; et ils s’enfuirent, chacun dans sa tente.

and Juda felde doun bifor Israel, and fledde in to his tabernaclis.

23 Et Joas, roi d’Israël, prit Amatsia, roi de Juda, fils de Joas, fils de Joakhaz, à Beth-Shémesh, et l’amena à Jérusalem; et il abattit la muraille de Jérusalem depuis la porte d’Éphraïm jusqu’à la porte du coin, 400 coudées,

Certis the kyng of Israel took in Bethsames Amasie, the kyng of Juda, the sone of Joas, sone of Joachaz, and brouyte in to Jerusalem; and he destriede the wallis therof fro the yate of Effraym `til to the yate of the corner, bi foure hundrid cubitis.

24 et [prit] tout l’or et l’argent, et tous les ustensiles qui furent trouvés dans la maison de Dieu, sous la main d’Obed-Édom, et les trésors de la maison du roi, et des otages; et il s’en retourna à Samarie.

And be ledde ayen in to Samarie al the gold and siluer, and alle vessels whiche he foond in the hows of the Lord, and at Obededom, in the tresouris also of the kyngis hows, also and the sones of ostagis.

25 Et Amatsia, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, vécut 15 ans après la mort de Joas, fils de Joakhaz, roi d’Israël.

Forsothe Amasie, kyng of Juda, the sone of Joas, lyuede fiftene yeer aftir that Joas, kyng of Israel, the sone of Joachaz, was deed.

26 Et le reste des actes d’Amatsia, les premiers et les derniers, voici, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des rois de Juda et d’Israël?

Sotheli the residue of the formere and the laste wordis of Amasie ben writun in the book of kyngis of Juda and of Israel.

27 Et, depuis le temps où Amatsia se fut détourné de l’Éternel, on fit une conspiration contre lui à Jérusalem, et il s’enfuit à Lakis; et on envoya après lui à Lakis, et là on le mit à mort.

And aftir that he yede awei fro the Lord, thei settiden to hym tresouns in Jerusalem; and whanne he hadde fledde to Lachis, thei senten and killiden hym there;

28 Et on le transporta sur des chevaux, et on l’enterra auprès de ses pères dans la ville de Juda.

and thei brouyten ayen on horsis, and birieden hym with his fadris in the citee of Dauid.
