1 Samuel 15
1 Et Samuel dit à Saül: L’Éternel m’a envoyé pour t’oindre comme roi sur son peuple, sur Israël; et maintenant, écoute la voix des paroles de l’Éternel.
And Samuel seide to Saul, The Lord sente me, that Y schulde anoynte thee in to `kyng on his puple Israel; now therfor here thou the vois `of the Lord.
2 Ainsi dit l’Éternel des armées: J’ai considéré ce qu’Amalek a fait à Israël, comment il se plaça contre lui sur le chemin quand il montait d’Égypte.
The Lord of oostis seith thes thingis, Y haue rikenyd what euer thingis Amalech dide to Israel; hou Amalech ayenstood Israel in the weie, whanne he stiede from Egipt.
3 Va maintenant, et frappe Amalek, et vous détruirez entièrement tout ce qui est à lui, et tu ne l’épargneras pas, mais tu feras mourir les hommes et les femmes, les enfants et ceux qui tètent, les bœufs et les moutons, les chameaux et les ânes.
Now therfor go thou, and sle Amalech, and distruye thou alle `thingis of hym; spare thou not hym, and coueyte thou not ony thing of hise thingis; but sle thou fro man `til to womman, and a litil child, and soukynge, an oxe, and scheep, and camel, and asse.
4 Et Saül convoqua le peuple et le dénombra à Telaïm, 200 000 hommes de pied, et 10 000 hommes de Juda.
Therfor Saul comaundide to the puple, and he noumbride hem as lambren twei hundrid thousynde of foot men, and ten thousynde of men of Juda.
5 Et Saül vint jusqu’à la ville d’Amalek, et il plaça une embuscade dans la vallée.
And whanne Saul cam to the citee of Amalech, he made redi buyschementis in the stronde.
6 Et Saül dit aux Kéniens: Allez, retirez-vous, descendez du milieu des Amalékites, de peur que je ne te détruise avec eux; car toi, tu usas de bonté envers tous les fils d’Israël lorsqu’ils montèrent d’Égypte. Et le Kénien se retira du milieu d’Amalek.
And Saul seide to Cyney, Go ye, departe ye, and go ye awei fro Amalech, lest perauenture Y wlappe thee in with hem; for thou didist mercy with alle the sones of Israel, whanne thei stieden fro Egipt. And Cyney departide fro the myddis of Amalech.
7 Et Saül frappa Amalek depuis Havila en allant vers Shur, qui est en face de l’Égypte.
And Saul smoot Amalech fro Euila, til thou come to Sur, which is ayens Egipt.
8 Et il prit vivant Agag, roi d’Amalek, et détruisit entièrement tout le peuple par le tranchant de l’épée.
And he took Agag quyke, the kyng of Amalech; sotheli he killide bi the scharpnesse of swerd alle the comyn puple.
9 Et Saül et le peuple épargnèrent Agag, et le meilleur du menu et du gros bétail, et les bêtes de la seconde portée, et les agneaux, et tout ce qui était bon, et ils ne voulurent pas les détruire entièrement; mais tout ce qui était misérable et chétif, cela ils le détruisirent entièrement.
And Saul and the puple sparide Agag, and the beste flockis of scheep, and of grete beestis, and clothis, and rammes, and alle thingis that weren faire; and thei nolden destrie tho; sotheli what euer thing was vijl, and repreuable, thei distrieden this.
10 Et la parole de l’Éternel vint à Samuel, disant:
Forsothe the word of the Lord was maad to Samuel,
11 Je me repens d’avoir établi Saül pour roi; car il s’est détourné de moi et n’a point exécuté mes paroles. Et Samuel fut fort attristé, et il cria à l’Éternel toute la nuit.
and seide, It repentith me, that Y made Saul kyng; for he forsook me, and fillide not my wordis in werk. And Samuel was sory, and he criede to the Lord in al the nyyt.
12 Et Samuel se leva de bonne heure pour aller le matin à la rencontre de Saül. Et on rapporta à Samuel, disant: Saül est allé à Carmel; et voici, il s’est érigé un trophée, et il s’est tourné ailleurs, et a passé plus loin, et est descendu à Guilgal.
And whanne Samuel hadde rise bi nyyt to go eerly to Saul, it was teld to Samuel, that Saul hadde come in to Carmel, and hadde reisid to hym a signe of victorye; and that he hadde turned ayen, and hadde passid, and hadde go doun in to Galgala. Therfor Samuel cam to Saul, and Saul offride brent sacrifice to the Lord of the cheef thingis of preies, whiche he hadde brouyt fro Amalech.
13 Et Samuel vint vers Saül, et Saül lui dit: Béni sois-tu de l’Éternel! j’ai exécuté la parole de l’Éternel.
And the while Samuel cam to Saul, Saul seide to hym, Blessid be thou of the Lord, Y haue fillid the `word of the Lord.
14 Et Samuel dit: Quel est donc ce bêlement de brebis à mes oreilles, et ce beuglement de bœufs que j’entends?
And Samuel seide, And what is the vois of flockis, that sowneth in myn eeris, and of grete beestis, whiche Y here?
15 Et Saül dit: Ils les ont amenés des Amalékites, car le peuple a épargné le meilleur du menu et du gros bétail, pour sacrifier à l’Éternel, ton Dieu; et le reste, nous l’avons détruit entièrement.
And Saul seide, Thei brouyten tho fro Amalech, for the puple sparide the betere scheep and grete beestis, that tho schulden be offrid to thi Lord God; sotheli we killiden the tothere beestis.
16 Et Samuel dit à Saül: Arrête, et je te déclarerai ce que l’Éternel m’a dit cette nuit. Et il lui dit: Parle.
Forsothe Samuel seide to Saul, Suffre thou me, and Y schal schewe to thee what thingis the Lord spak to me in the nyyt. And he seide to Samuel, Speke thou.
17 Et Samuel dit: N’est-ce pas, quand tu étais petit à tes propres yeux, tu es devenu chef des tribus d’Israël, et l’Éternel t’a oint pour roi sur Israël?
And Samuel seide, Whether not, whanne thou were litil in thin iyen, thou were maade heed in the lynages of Israel, and the Lord anoyntide thee in to kyng on Israel;
18 Et l’Éternel t’avait envoyé par un chemin, et t’avait dit: Va et détruis entièrement ces pécheurs, les Amalékites, et fais-leur la guerre jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient consumés.
and the Lord sente thee in to the weie, and seide, Go thou, and sle the synneris of Amalech, and thou schalt fiyte ayens hem `til to sleyng of hem.
19 Et pourquoi n’as-tu pas écouté la voix de l’Éternel, et t’es-tu jeté sur le butin, et as-tu fait ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l’Éternel?
Whi therfor herdist thou not the vois of the Lord, but thou were turned to prey, and didist yuel in the `iyen of the Lord?
20 Et Saül dit à Samuel: J’ai écouté la voix de l’Éternel, et je suis allé par le chemin par lequel l’Éternel m’a envoyé; et j’ai amené Agag, roi d’Amalek, et j’ai entièrement détruit Amalek.
And Saul seide to Samuel, Yhis, Y herde the `vois of the Lord, and Y yede in the weie, bi which the Lord sente me, and Y haue brouyt Agag, the kyng of Amalech, and Y killide Amalech.
21 Et le peuple a pris, dans le butin, du menu et du gros bétail, comme prémices de ce qui était voué à l’exécration, pour sacrifier à l’Éternel, ton Dieu, à Guilgal.
Forsothe the puple took of the prey, scheep and oxun, the firste fruytis of tho thingis, that ben slayn, that thei make sacrifice to her Lord God in Galgalis.
22 Et Samuel dit: L’Éternel prend-il plaisir aux holocaustes et aux sacrifices, comme à ce qu’on écoute la voix de l’Éternel? Voici, écouter est meilleur que sacrifice, prêter l’oreille, meilleur que la graisse des béliers;
And Samuel seide, Whether the Lord wole brent sacrifices, ethir slayn sacrifices, and not more that me obeie to the vois of the Lord? For obedience is betere than sacrifices, and to `herkene Goddis word is more than to offre the ynnere fatnesse of rammes;
23 car la rébellion est comme le péché de divination, et l’obstination comme une idolâtrie et des théraphim. Parce que tu as rejeté la parole de l’Éternel, il t’a aussi rejeté comme roi.
for it is as the synne of mawmetrie to `fiyte ayens Goddis heest, and it is as the wickidnesse of ydolatrie to nyle `ascente to Goddis heest. Therfor for that, that thou castidist awey the word of the Lord, the Lord castide thee awei, that thou be not kyng.
24 Et Saül dit à Samuel: J’ai péché, car j’ai transgressé le commandement de l’Éternel et tes paroles, car j’ai craint le peuple et j’ai écouté leur voix.
And Saul seide to Samuel, Y synnede, for Y brak the word of the Lord, and thi wordis; `and Y dredde the puple, `and obeiede to `the vois of hem; but now,
25 Et maintenant, pardonne, je te prie, mon péché, et retourne-t’en avec moi, et je me prosternerai devant l’Éternel.
Y biseche, bere thou my synne, and turne thou ayen with me, that Y worschipe the Lord.
26 Et Samuel dit à Saül: Je ne retournerai point avec toi; car tu as rejeté la parole de l’Éternel, et l’Éternel t’a rejeté pour que tu ne sois plus roi sur Israël.
And Samuel seide to Saul, Y schal not turne ayen with thee, for thou castidist awey the word of the Lord, and the Lord castide awei thee, that thou be not king on Israel.
27 Et Samuel se tourna pour s’en aller, et [Saül] saisit le pan de sa robe, qui se déchira.
And Samuel turnede to go a wey; sotheli Saul took the ende of the mentil of Samuel, which also was to-rent.
28 Et Samuel lui dit: L’Éternel a déchiré aujourd’hui la royauté d’Israël de dessus toi, et l’a donnée à ton prochain, qui est meilleur que toi.
And Samuel seide to hym, The Lord hath kit the rewme of Israel fro thee to dai, and yaf it to thi neiybore betere than thou;
29 Et aussi, la sûre Confiance d’Israël ne ment point et ne se repent point; car il n’est pas un homme pour se repentir.
certis the ouercomere in Israel schal not spare, and he schal not be bowid bi repentaunce; for he is not man, `that is, chaungeable, that he do repentaunce.
30 Et [Saül] dit: J’ai péché; honore-moi maintenant, je te prie, en la présence des anciens de mon peuple et en la présence d’Israël, et retourne-t’en avec moi, et je me prosternerai devant l’Éternel, ton Dieu.
And Saul seide, Y synnede; but now onoure thou me bifor the eldere men of my puple, and bifor Israel, and turne thou ayen with me, that Y worschipe thi Lord God.
31 Et Samuel retourna après Saül, et Saül se prosterna devant l’Éternel.
Therfor Samuel turnede ayen, and suede Saul, and Saul worschipide the Lord.
32 Et Samuel dit: Amenez-moi Agag, roi d’Amalek. Et Agag vint à lui gaiement; et Agag disait: Certainement l’amertume de la mort est passée.
And Samuel seide, Brynge ye to me Agag, the kyng of Amalech. And Agag `moost fat tremblynge was brouyt to hym. And Agag seide, Whether thus departith bitter deeth?
33 Et Samuel dit: Comme ton épée a privé d’enfants les femmes, de même, entre les femmes, ta mère sera privée d’enfants. Et Samuel mit Agag en pièces devant l’Éternel, à Guilgal.
And Samuel seide, As thi swerd made wymmen with out fre children, so thi modir schal be with out fre children among wymmen. And Samuel kittide hym in to gobetis bifor the Lord in Galgalis.
34 Et Samuel s’en alla à Rama; et Saül monta à sa maison, à Guibha de Saül.
Forsothe Samuel yede in to Ramatha; sotheli Saul stiede in to his hows in Gabaa.
35 Et Samuel ne vit plus Saül jusqu’au jour de sa mort, car Samuel menait deuil sur Saül, parce que l’Éternel s’était repenti d’avoir établi Saül roi sur Israël.
And Samuel siy no more Saul `til to the dai of his deeth; netheles Samuel biweilide Saul, for it repentide the Lord, that he hadde ordeyned Saul kyng on Israel.
