Luc 2
1 En ces jours-là fut publié un édit de César Auguste, pour le recensement de toute la terre.
Now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar [Ruler] Augustus [Revered, Esteemed, Venerable] that all the world should be enrolled.
2 Ce premier recensement eut lieu pendant que Quirinius commandait la Syrie.
This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria [Elevated].
3 Et tous allaient se faire recenser, chacun dans sa ville.
All went to enroll themselves, everyone to his own city.
4 Joseph monta de Galilée, de la ville de Nazareth, en Judée, à la ville de David, appelée Bethléem, parce qu'il était de la maison et de la famille de David,
Joseph [May he add] also went up from Galilee [District, Circuit], out of the city of Nazareth [Branch, Separated one], into Judea [Praise], to David [Beloved]’s city, which is called Bethlehem [House of Bread], because he was of the house and family of David [Beloved];
5 pour être recensé avec Marie son épouse, qui était enceinte.
to enroll himself with Mary [Rebellion], who was pledged to be married to him as wife, being pregnant.
6 Or, pendant qu'ils étaient en ce lieu, le temps où elle devait enfanter s'accomplit.
While they were there, the day had come for her to give birth.
7 Et elle mit au monde son fils premier-né, l'enveloppa de langes et le coucha dans une crèche, parce qu'il n'y avait pas de place pour eux dans l'hôtellerie.
She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 Il y avait aux environs des bergers qui passaient la nuit aux champs, veillant à la garde de leur troupeau.
There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.
9 Tout à coup un ange du Seigneur parut auprès d'eux et le rayonnement de la gloire du Seigneur les environna, et ils furent saisis d'une grande crainte.
Behold, an angel of Adonai stood by them, and the shekhinah ·manifest weighty glory and presence of God· shone around them, and they were terrified.
10 Mais l'ange leur dit: " Ne craignez point, car je vous annonce une nouvelle qui sera pour tout le peuple une grande joie.
The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.
11 Il vous est né aujourd'hui, dans la ville de David, un Sauveur, qui est le Christ Seigneur.
For there is born to you today, in David [Beloved]’s city, a Savior, who is Messiah [Anointed one] the MarYah [Master Yahweh].
12 Et voici ce qui vous servira de signe: vous trouverez un nouveau-né enveloppé de langes et couché dans une crèche. "
This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough.”
13 Au même instant, se joignit à l'ange une troupe de la milice céleste, louant Dieu et disant:
Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God, and saying,
14 " Gloire, dans les hauteurs, à Dieu! Et, sur la terre, paix aux hommes, Objet de la bienveillance divine! "
“Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men.”
15 Lorsque les anges, remontant au ciel, les eurent quittés, les bergers se dirent les uns aux autres: " Passons jusqu'à Bethléem, et voyons cet événement qui est arrivé, et que le Seigneur nous a fait savoir. "
When the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem [House of Bread], now, and see this thing that has happened, which MarYah [Master Yahweh] has made known to us.”
16 Ils s'y rendirent en toute hâte, et trouvèrent Marie, Joseph, et le nouveau-né couché dans la crèche.
They came with haste, and found both Mary [Rebellion] and Joseph [May he add], and the baby was lying in the feeding trough.
17 Après l'avoir vu, ils publièrent la révélation qui leur avait été faite au sujet de cet Enfant.
When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying which was spoken to them about this child.
18 Et tous ceux qui les entendirent furent dans l'admiration de ce que leur disaient les bergers.
All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds.
19 Or Marie conservait avec soin toutes ces choses, les méditant dans son cœur.
But Mary [Rebellion] kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.
20 Et les bergers s'en retournèrent, glorifiant et louant Dieu de tout ce qu'ils avaient vu et entendu, selon ce qui leur avait été annoncé.
The shepherds teshuvah ·completely returned·, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.
21 Les huit jours étant accomplis, pour la circoncision de l'Enfant, il fut appelé Jésus, nom que l'ange lui avait donné avant qu'il eût été conçu dans le sein maternel.
When eight days were fulfilled for the circumcision of the child, his name was called Yeshua [Salvation], which was given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
22 Puis, lorsque les jours de leur purification furent accomplis, selon la loi de Moïse, Marie et Joseph portèrent l'Enfant à Jérusalem pour le présenter au Seigneur,
When the time came for their purification according to the Torah ·Teaching· of Moses [Drawn out] were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem [City of peace], to present him to MarYah [Master Yahweh]
23 suivant ce qui est écrit dans la loi du Seigneur: " Tout mâle premier-né sera consacré au Seigneur ";
(as it is written in the Torah ·Teaching· of MarYah [Master Yahweh], “Every firstborn male shall be consecrated holy to MarYah [Master Yahweh]”),
24 et pour offrir en sacrifice, ainsi que le prescrit la loi du Seigneur, une paire de tourterelles, ou deux petites colombes.
and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the Torah ·Teaching· of MarYah [Master Yahweh], “A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”
25 Or, il y avait à Jérusalem un homme nommé Siméon; c'était un homme juste et craignant Dieu, qui attendait la consolation d'Israël, et l'Esprit-Saint était sur lui.
Behold, there was a man in Jerusalem [City of peace] whose name was Simeon [Hearing]. This man was upright and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel [God prevails], and Ruach haKodesh [Spirit of the Holiness] was on him.
26 L'Esprit-Saint lui avait révélé qu'il ne mourrait point avant d'avoir vu le Christ du Seigneur.
It had been revealed to him by Ruach haKodesh [Spirit of the Holiness] that he should not see death before he had seen Adonai’s Messiah [Anointed one].
27 Il vint donc dans le temple, poussé par l'Esprit. Et comme les parents apportaient le petit Enfant Jésus, pour observer les coutumes légales à son égard,
Prompted by haRuach [the Spirit], he went into the temple courts; and when the parents brought in the child Yeshua [Salvation] to do for him what the Torah ·Teaching· required,
28 lui aussi, il le reçut entre ses bras, et bénit Dieu en disant:
then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29 " Maintenant, ô Maître, vous laissez partir votre serviteur En paix, selon votre parole;
“Now you are releasing your servant, Master, according to your word, in peace;
30 Puisque mes yeux ont vu votre salut,
for my eyes have seen your method of salvation,
31 Que vous avez préparé à la face de tous les peuples:
which you have prepared before the face of all peoples;
32 Lumière qui doit dissiper les ténèbres des Nations Et gloire d'Israël, votre peuple. "
a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel [God prevails].”
33 Le père et la mère de l'Enfant étaient dans l'admiration des choses que l'on disait de lui.
Joseph [May he add] and his mother were marveling at the things which were spoken concerning him,
34 Et Siméon les bénit et dit à Marie, sa mère: " Cet Enfant est au monde pour la chute et la résurrection d'un grand nombre en Israël, et pour être un signe en butte à la contradiction; —
and Simeon [Hearing] blessed them, and said to Mary [Rebellion], his mother, “Behold, this child is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel [God prevails], and for a sign which is spoken against.
35 vous-même, un glaive transpercera votre âme; — et ainsi seront révélées les pensées cachées dans le cœur d'un grand nombre. "
Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
36 Il y avait aussi une prophétesse, Anne, fille de Phanuel, de la tribu d'Aser; elle était fort avancée en âge, ayant vécu, depuis sa virginité, sept ans avec son mari.
There was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher [Happy] (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity,
37 Restée veuve, et parvenue à quatre-vingt-quatre ans, elle ne quittait point le temple, servant Dieu nuit et jour dans le jeûne et dans la prière.
and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who didn’t depart from the temple, worshiping with fastings and petitions night and day.
38 Elle aussi, survenant à cette heure, se mit à louer le Seigneur et à parler de l'Enfant à tous ceux qui, à Jérusalem, attendaient la rédemption.
Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to Yahweh, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for redemption in Jerusalem [City of peace].
39 Lorsqu'ils eurent tout accompli selon la loi du Seigneur, ils retournèrent en Galilée, à Nazareth, leur ville.
When they had accomplished everything required by the Torah ·Teaching· of MarYah [Master Yahweh], they returned into Galilee [District, Circuit], to their town of Nazareth [Branch, Separated one].
40 Cependant l'Enfant croissait et se fortifiait, étant rempli de sagesse, et la grâce de Dieu était sur lui.
The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.
41 Or ses parents allaient tous les ans à Jérusalem, à la fête de Pâque.
His parents went every year to Jerusalem [City of peace] at the festival of the Pesac ·Passover·.
42 Quand il eut atteint sa douzième année, ils y montèrent, selon la coutume de cette fête;
When he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem [City of peace] according to the custom of the feast,
43 et lorsqu'ils s'en retournèrent, les jours de la fête étant passés, l'Enfant Jésus resta dans la ville, sans que ses parents s'en fussent aperçus.
and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were making teshuvah ·complete return·, the boy Yeshua [Salvation] stayed behind in Jerusalem [City of peace]. Joseph [May he add] and his mother didn’t know it,
44 Pensant qu'il était avec leurs compagnons de voyage, ils marchèrent tout un jour, puis ils le cherchèrent parmi leurs parents et leurs connaissances.
but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey, and they looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances.
45 Ne l'ayant point trouvé, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem pour le chercher.
When they didn’t find him, they make teshuvah ·complete return· to Jerusalem [City of peace], looking for him.
46 Au bout de trois jours, ils le trouvèrent dans le temple, assis au milieu des docteurs, les écoutant et les interrogeant.
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the middle of the teachers, both listening to them, and asking them questions.
47 Et tous ceux qui l'entendaient étaient ravis de son intelligence et de ses réponses.
All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
48 En le voyant, ils furent étonnés; et sa mère lui dit: " Mon enfant, pourquoi avez-vous agi ainsi avec nous? Votre père et moi, nous vous cherchions tout affligés. "
When they saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us this way? Behold, your 'Avikah ·your Father· and I were anxiously looking for you.”
49 Et il leur répondit: " Pourquoi me cherchiez-vous? Ne saviez-vous pas qu'il faut que je sois aux choses de mon Père? "
He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in 'Avi ·my Father·’s house?”
50 Mais ils ne comprirent pas ce qu'il leur disait.
They didn’t understand the saying which he spoke to them.
51 Alors il descendit avec eux, et vint à Nazareth, et il leur était soumis. Et sa mère conservait toutes ces choses dans son cœur.
And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth [Branch, Separated one]. He was subject to them, and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 Et Jésus progressait en sagesse, en taille et en grâce devant Dieu et devant les hommes.
And Yeshua [Salvation] increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
