Isaïe 34

1 Approchez, nations, pour entendre; peuples, soyez attentifs! Que la terre entende, elle et ce qu'elle renferme, le monde et tout ce qu'il produit.

Come near, ye nations, to hear, And ye peoples, give attention, Hear doth the earth and its fulness, The world, and all its productions.

2 Car Yahweh est courroucé contre toutes les nations, et en fureur contre toute leur armée; il les a vouées, livrées au carnage.

For wrath [is] to Jehovah against all the nations, And fury against all their host, He hath devoted them to destruction, He hath given them to slaughter.

3 Leurs morts seront jetés sans sépulture, leurs cadavres exhaleront l'infection, et les montagnes se fondront dans leur sang.

And their wounded are cast out, And their carcases cause their stench to ascend, And melted have been mountains from their blood.

4 Toute l'armée des cieux sera réduite en poussière; les cieux seront roulés comme un livre, et toute leur armée tombera, comme tombe la feuille de la vigne, comme tombe celle du figuier.

And consumed have been all the host of the heavens, And rolled together as a book have been the heavens, And all their hosts do fade, As the fading of a leaf of a vine, And as the fading one of a fig-tree.

5 " Car mon épée s'est enivrée dans les cieux, et voici qu'elle descend sur Edom, sur le peuple que j'ai voué à l'anathème, pour le juger.

For soaked in the heavens was My sword, Lo, on Edom it cometh down, On the people of My curse for judgment.

6 L'épée de Yahweh est pleine de sang. ruisselante de graisse, du sang des agneaux et des boucs, de la graisse des reins des béliers. Car Yahweh fait un sacrifice à Bosra, et un grand carnage au pays d'Edom.

A sword [is] to Jehovah — it hath been full of blood, It hath been made fat with fatness, With blood of lambs and he-goats. With fat of kidneys of rams, For a sacrifice [is] to Jehovah in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

7 Avec eux tombent les buffles, et les bœufs avec les taureaux. Leur terre s'enivre de sang, et leur poussière ruisselle de graisse.

And come down have reems with them, And bullocks with bulls, And soaked hath been their land from blood, And their dust from fatness is made fat.

8 Car c'est un jour de vengeance pour Yahweh, une année de revanche pour la cause de Sion.

(For a day of vengeance [is] to Jehovah, A year of recompences for Zion's strife, )

9 Ses torrents seront changés en poix, et sa poussière en soufre, et sa terre deviendra de la poix brûlante,

And turned have been her streams to pitch, And her dust to brimstone, And her land hath become burning pitch.

10 qui ne s'éteindra ni la nuit ni le jour, dont la fumée montera éternellement. D'âge en âge elle restera désolée; à tout jamais personne n'y passera.

By night and by day she is not quenched, To the age go up doth her smoke, From generation to generation she is waste, For ever and ever, none is passing into her.

11 Le pélican et le hérisson la posséderont; la chouette et le corbeau y habiteront. Et il étendra sur elle le cordeau du chaos et le niveau du vide.

And possess her do pelican and hedge-hog, And owl and raven dwell in her, And He hath stretched out over her A line of vacancy, and stones of emptiness.

12 Il n'y aura plus de grands pour proclamer un roi, et tous ses princes seront anéantis.

[To] the kingdom her freemen they call, But there are none there, And all her princes are at an end.

13 Les épines pousseront dans ses palais, les ronces et les chardons dans ses forteresses. Ce sera un repaire de chacals, et un parc pour les autruches.

And gone up her palaces have thorns, Nettle and bramble [are] in her fortresses, And it hath been a habitation of dragons, A court for daughters of an ostrich.

14 Les chats et les chiens sauvages s'y rencontreront, et les satyres s'y appelleront les uns les autres. Là aussi le spectre des nuits fera sa demeure, et trouvera son lieu de repos.

And met have Ziim with Aiim, And the goat for its companion calleth, Only there rested hath the night-owl, And hath found for herself a place of rest.

15 Là le serpent fera son nid et pondra, couvera et réunira ses petits sous son ombre. Là aussi se rassembleront tous les vautours.

There made her nest hath the bittern, Yea, she layeth, and hath hatched, And hath gathered under her shadow, Only there gathered have been vultures, Each with its companion.

16 Cherchez dans le livre de Yahweh, et lisez: Pas un d'eux ne manque, ni l'un ni l'autre ne fait défaut. Car c'est la bouche de Yahweh qui l'a ordonné, et son souffle qui les a rassemblés.

Seek out of the book of Jehovah, and read, One of these hath not been lacking, None hath missed its companion, For My mouth — it hath commanded, And His spirit — He hath gathered them.

17 C'est lui qui a jeté le sort pour eux, et sa main qui leur a partagé le pays au cordeau; à jamais ils le posséderont, d'âge en âge ils y habiteront.

And He hath cast for them a lot, And His hand hath apportioned [it] to them by line, Unto the age they possess it, To all generations they dwell in it!
