Isaïe 30
1 Malheur aux enfants rebelles, — oracle de Yahweh, qui font des projets, mais sans moi; qui contractent des pactes, mais sans mon esprit, accumulant péché sur péché.
“Woe to the rebellious children,” says Adonai, “who take counsel, but not from me; and who make an alliance, but not with my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin,
2 Ils descendent sur le chemin de l'Egypte, sans avoir consulté ma bouche, pour se réfugier sous la protection de Pharaon et pour s'abriter à l'ombre de l'Egypte!
who set out to go down into Egypt [Abode of slavery], and have not asked my advice; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to take refuge in the shadow of Egypt [Abode of slavery]!
3 La protection de Pharaon sera pour vous une honte; et le refuge à l'ombre de l'Egypte, une confusion.
Therefore the strength of Pharaoh will be your shame, and the refuge in the shadow of Egypt [Abode of slavery] your confusion.
4 Déjà les princes de Juda sont à Tanis, et ses envoyés se sont avancés jusqu'à Hanés;
For their princes are at Zoan, and their ambassadors have come to Hanes.
5 tous sont confus à cause d'un peuple qui ne leur sert de rien, qui ne leur donne ni aide ni secours, mais seulement confusion et ignominie. —
They shall all be ashamed because of a people that can’t profit them, that are not a help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.”
6 Oracle des bêtes du négéb: A travers une contrée de détresse et d'angoisse, d'où sortent le lion et la lionne, la vipère et le dragon volant, ils portent leurs richesses sur le dos des ânes, et leurs trésors sur la bosse des chameaux, à un peuple qui ne sert à rien.
The burden of the animals of the South. Through the land of trouble and anguish, of the lioness and the lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they carry their riches on the shoulders of young donkeys, and their treasures on the humps of camels, to an unprofitable people.
7 Le secours de l'Egypte sera vanité et néant, c'est pourquoi je la nomme: " La superbe qui reste assise. "
For Egypt [Abode of slavery] helps in vain, and to no purpose; therefore have I called her Rahab who sits still.
8 Va maintenant, grave cela sur une tablette en leur présence, et écris-le dans un livre, afin que ce soit, pour les jours à venir, un témoignage à perpétuité.
Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come forever and ever.
9 Car c'est un peuple de rébellion, ce sont des enfants infidèles, des enfants qui refusent d'écouter la loi de Yahweh.
For it is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not sh'ma ·hear obey· Adonai’s Torah ·Teaching·;
10 Ils disent aux voyants: " Ne voyez point; " et aux prophètes: " Ne nous prophétisez pas la vérité; dites-nous des choses agréables, prophétisez des illusions!
who tell the seers, “Don’t see!” and to the prophets, “Don’t prophesy to us right things. Tell us pleasant things. Prophesy deceits.
11 Ecartez-vous de la voie, détournez-vous du chemin; ôtez de devant nos yeux le Saint d'Israël! " —
Get out of the way. Turn aside from the path. Cause the haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails] to cease from before us.”
12 C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Saint d'Israël: Puisque vous méprisez cette parole et que vous vous confiez dans la violence et l'artifice, et que vous en faites votre appui,
Therefore thus says the haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails], “Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely on it;
13 à cause de cela, cette iniquité sera pour vous comme une lézarde qui menace ruine et fait saillie sur un mur élevé, dont soudain, en un instant, l'écroulement se produit.
therefore this iniquity shall be to you like a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly in an instant.
14 Il se brise comme se brise un vase d'argile, que l'on fracasse sans pitié, sans que l'on trouve dans ses débris un morceau, pour prendre du feu au brasier, ou puiser de l'eau à la citerne.
He will break it as a potter’s vessel is broken, breaking it in pieces without sparing, so that there won’t be found among the broken piece a piece good enough to take fire from the hearth, or to dip up water out of the cistern.”
15 Car ainsi a parlé le Seigneur Yahweh, le Saint d'Israël: Par la conversion et une paisible attente vous seriez sauvés; dans le repos et la confiance serait votre force. Mais vous ne l'avez pas voulu
For thus said the Lord Adonai, the haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails], “You will be saved in making teshuvah ·complete return· and rest. Your strength will be in quietness and in confidence.” You refused,
16 et vous avez dit: " Non! Mais nous fuirons sur des chevaux! " — eh bien, vous fuirez — " Nous volerons sur des coursiers! " — eh bien, ceux qui vous poursuivront seront plus rapides!
but you said, “No, for we will flee on horses;” therefore you will flee; and, “We will ride on the swift;” therefore those who pursue you will be swift.
17 Mille à la menace d'un seul, et à la menace de cinq, vous fuirez, jusqu'à ce que vous ne soyez plus qu'un reste, semblable à un mât sur le sommet de la montagne, à un signal sur la colline.
One thousand will flee at the threat of one. At the threat of five, you will flee until you are left like a beacon on the top of a mountain, and like a banner on a hill.
18 C'est pourquoi Yahweh attend pour vous faire grâce, c'est pourquoi il se lèvera pour vous faire miséricorde; car Yahweh est un Dieu juste. Heureux tous ceux qui espèrent en lui!
Therefore Adonai will wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have racham ·merciful love· on you, for Adonai is a God of mishpat ·justice·. Blessed are all those who wait for him.
19 Car, ô peuple qui habite en Sion, à Jérusalem, tu ne pleureras désormais plus. A ton premier cri, il te fera grâce; dès qu'il t'aura entendu, il t'exaucera.
For the people will dwell in Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] at Jerusalem [City of peace]. You will weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the voice of your cry. When he sh'ma ·hears obeys· you, he will answer you.
20 Le Seigneur vous donnera le pain de l'angoisse et l'eau de la détresse; et ceux qui t'instruisent ne se cacheront plus et tes yeux verront ceux qui t'instruisent;
Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers won’t be hidden any more, but your eyes will see your teachers;
21 et tes oreilles entendront derrière toi la voix qui dira: " Voici le chemin, suivez-le! " quand vous vous détournerez à droite ou à gauche.
and when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left, your ears will sh'ma ·hear obey· a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way. Walk in it.”
22 Vous traiterez comme impurs l'argent qui recouvre vos idoles, et l'or qui revêt vos statues; vous les rejetterez comme une chose souillée: " Hors d'ici! " leur direz-vous.
You shall defile the overlaying of your engraved images of silver, and the plating of your molten images of gold. You shall cast them away as an unclean thing. You shall tell it, “Go away!”
23 Le Seigneur enverra ses ondées sur la semence que tu auras semée en terre, et le pain que donnera la terre sera délicieux et abondant; tes troupeaux en ce jour-là paîtront dans de vastes pâturages;
He will give the rain for your seed, with which you will sow the ground; and bread of the increase of the ground will be rich and plentiful. In that day, your livestock will feed in large pastures.
24 et les bœufs et les ânes, qui travaillent la terre, mangeront un fourrage savoureux vanné avec la pelle et le van.
The oxen likewise and the young donkeys that till the ground will eat savory feed, which has been winnowed with the shovel and with the fork.
25 Et sur toute haute montagne, et sur toute colline élevée, il y aura des ruisseaux, des courants d'eau, au jour du grand carnage quand les tours tomberont.
There shall be brooks and streams of water on every lofty mountain and on every high hill in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.
26 La lumière de la lune sera comme la lumière du soleil, et la lumière du soleil sera sept fois plus grande, comme la lumière de sept jours, au jour où Yahweh bandera la blessure de son peuple, et guérira les plaies dont il l'avait frappé.
Moreover the light of the moon will be like the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven days, in the day that Adonai binds up the fracture of his people, and heals the wound they were struck with.
27 Voici que le nom de Yahweh vient de loin, sa colère brûle, et l'ardeur en est accablante; ses lèvres respirent la fureur, et sa langue est comme un feu dévorant.
Behold, Adonai’s name comes from far away, burning with his anger, and in thick rising smoke. His lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is as a devouring fire.
28 Son souffle est comme un torrent débordé, qui monte jusqu'au cou, pour cribler les nations avec le crible de la destruction, et mettre un frein d'égarement aux mâchoires des peuples.
His breath is as an overflowing stream that reaches even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction; and a bridle that leads to ruin will be in the jaws of the peoples.
29 Alors vous entonnerez des cantiques comme dans la nuit où l'on célèbre la fête, et vous aurez le cœur joyeux, comme celui qui monte au son de la flûte, pour aller à la montagne de Yahweh, vers le rocher d'Israël.
You will have a song, as in the night when a holy feast is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goes with a flute to come to Adonai’s mountain, to Israel [God prevails]’s Rock.
30 Yahweh fera éclater la majesté de sa voix, et il fera voir son bras qui s'abaisse, dans l'ardeur de sa colère, et la flamme d'un feu dévorant, dans la tempête, l'averse et les pierres de grêle.
Adonai will cause his glorious voice to be sh'ma ·heard obeyed·, and will show the descent of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and the flame of a devouring fire, with a blast, storm, and hailstones.
31 Et Assur tremblera à la voix de Yahweh; il frappera de sa verge,
For through Adonai’s voice the Assyrian will be dismayed. He will strike him with his rod.
32 et, à chaque fois que passera la verge fatale, que Yahweh abaissera sur lui, on fera retentir les tambourins et les harpes, et il combattra contre lui à coups redoublés.
Every stroke of the rod of punishment, which Adonai will lay on him, will be with the sound of tambourines and harps. He will fight with them in battles, brandishing weapons.
33 Car Topheth est dès longtemps préparé; lui aussi est prêt pour le roi; le Seigneur l'a fait large et profond; il y a sur son bûcher du feu et du bois en abondance; le souffle de Yahweh, comme un torrent de soufre, l'embrase.
For Tophet (Place of fiery torment for the dead, located in Gehenna), his burning place, has long been ready. Yes, for the king it is prepared. He has made its pyre deep and large with fire and much wood. Adonai’s breath, like a stream of sulfur, kindles it.
