Isaïe 19

1 Oracle sur l'Egypte. Voici que Yahweh, porté sur une nuée légère, entre en Egypte; les idoles de l'Egypte tremblent en sa présence, et le cœur de l'Egypte se fond au dedans d'elle.

The burden of Egypt. Beholde, the Lord rideth vpon a swift cloude, and shall come into Egypt, and the idoles of Egypt shall be moued at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the middes of her.

2 Je pousserai l'Egypte contre l'Egypte, et ils se battront frère contre frère, ami contre ami, ville contre ville, royaume contre royaume.

And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: so euery one shall fight against his brother, and euery one against his neighbour, citie against citie, and kingdome against kingdome.

3 L'esprit de l'Egypte s'évanouira en elle, et j'anéantirai son conseil; ils interrogeront les idoles et les enchanteurs, les nécromanciens et les devins.

And the spirite of Egypt shall faile in the middes of her, and I will destroy their counsell, and they shall seeke at the idoles, and at the sorcerers, and at them that haue spirits of diuination, and at the southsayers.

4 Je livrerai l'Egypte entre les mains d'un maître dur, et un roi redoutable dominera sur eux, — oracle du Seigneur, Yahweh des armées.

And I will deliuer the Egyptians into the hand of the cruell Lordes, and a mightie King shall rule ouer them, sayth the Lord God of hostes.

5 Les eaux de la mer tariront, le fleuve s'épuisera et se desséchera.

Then the waters of the sea shall faile, and the riuers shall be dryed vp, and wasted.

6 Les rivières deviendront infectes; les canaux d'Egypte baisseront et se dessécheront; les joncs et les roseaux se flétriront.

And the riuers shall goe farre away: the riuers of defence shalbe emptied and dryed vp: the reedes and flagges shall be cut downe.

7 Les prairies le long du Nil, sur les bords du Nil, tous les champs ensemencés le long du Nil, sécheront, s'évanouiront, et il n'y en aura plus.

The grasse in the riuer, and at the head of the riuers, and all that groweth by the riuer, shall wither, and be driuen away, and be no more.

8 Les pêcheurs gémiront et se lamenteront, tous ceux qui jettent l'hameçon dans le fleuve; ceux qui tendent le filet sur la face des eaux seront désolés.

The fishers also shall mourne, and all they that cast angle into the riuer, shall lament, and they that spread their nette vpon the waters, shall be weakened.

9 Ceux qui travaillent le lin peigné, et ceux qui tissent le coton seront consternés.

Moreouer, they that worke in flaxe of diuers sortes, shall be confounded, and they that weaue nettes.

10 Les colonnes de l'Egypte seront brisées, tous les artisans seront dans l'abattement.

For their nettes shalbe broken, and all they, that make pondes, shalbe heauie in heart.

11 Les princes de Tanis ne sont que des insensés; des sages conseillers de Pharaon les conseils sont stupides. Comment osez-vous dire à Pharaon: " Je suis fils des sages, fils des rois antiques? "

Surely the princes of Zoan are fooles: the counsell of the wise counselers of Pharaoh is become foolish: how say ye vnto Pharaoh, I am the sonne of the wise? I am the sonne of the ancient Kings?

12 Où sont-ils, tes sages? Qu'ils t'annoncent donc, qu'ils devinent ce que Yahweh des armées a décrété contre l'Egypte!

Where are nowe thy wise men, that they may tell thee, or may knowe what the Lord of hostes hath determined against Egypt?

13 Les princes de Tanis ont perdu le sens, les princes de Memphis sont dans l'illusion; ils égarent l'Egypte, eux, la pierre angulaire de ses castes.

The princes of Zoan are become fooles: the princes of Noph are deceiued, they haue deceiued Egypt, euen the corners of the tribes thereof.

14 Yahweh a répandu au milieu d'elle un esprit de vertige, et ils font errer l'Egypte dans tout ce qu'elle fait, comme erre un homme ivre dans son vomissement.

The Lord hath mingled among them the spirite of errours: and they haue caused Egypt to erre in euery worke thereof, as a drunken man erreth in his vomite.

15 Et il n'y aura aucune œuvre qui profite à l'Egypte, de tout ce que pourra faire la tête ou la queue, la palme ou le jonc.

Neither shall there be any worke in Egypt, which the head may doe, nor the tayle, ye branch nor the rush.

16 En ce jour-là, l'Egypte sera comme les femmes: elle tremblera et s'épouvantera en voyant se lever la main de Yahweh des armées; qu'il lève contre elle.

In that day shall Egypt be like vnto women: for it shall be afraide and feare because of the moouing of the hand of the Lord of hostes, which he shaketh ouer it.

17 Et le pays de Juda sera pour l'Egypte un sujet de terreur; chaque fois qu'on le lui rappellera, elle tremblera, à cause de l'arrêt de Yahweh des armées, qu'il a porté contre elle.

And the land of Iudah shall be a feare vnto Egypt: euery one that maketh mention of it, shalbe afraid thereat, because of ye counsell of the Lord of hostes, which he hath determined vpon it.

18 En ce jour-là, il y aura cinq villes sur la terre d'Egypte, qui parleront la langue de Chanan, et qui prêteront serment à Yahweh des armées; l'une d'elles s'appellera Ville du Soleil.

In that day shall fiue cities in the lande of Egypt speake the language of Canaan, and shall sweare by the Lord of hostes. one shall be called the citie of destruction.

19 En ce jour-là, il y aura un autel pour Yahweh au milieu du pays d'Egypte, et près de la frontière une stèle pour Yahweh.

In that day shall the altar of the Lord be in the middes of the land of Egypt, and a pillar by the border thereof vnto the Lord.

20 Et ce sera pour Yahweh des armées un signal, et un témoignage sur la terre d'Egypte; quand ils crieront vers Yahweh, à cause des oppresseurs, il leur enverra un sauveur et un champion pour les délivrer.

And it shall be for a signe and for a witnes vnto the Lord of hostes in the land of Egypt: for they shall crie vnto the Lord, because of the oppressers, and he shall send them a Sauiour and a great man, and shall deliuer them.

21 Yahweh se fera connaître de l'Egypte, et l'Egypte connaîtra Yahweh, en ce jour-là; ils feront des sacrifices et des offrandes; ils feront des vœux à Yahweh et les accompliront.

And the Lord shall be knowen of the Egyptians, and the Egyptians shall knowe the Lord in that day, and doe sacrifice and oblation, and shall vowe vowes vnto the Lord, and performe them.

22 Yahweh frappera l'Egypte, frappant et guérissant. Ils se convertiront à Yahweh, et il se laissera fléchir par eux et les guérira.

So ye Lord shall smite Egypt, he shall smite and heale it: for he shall returne vnto ye Lord, and he shall be intreated of them and shall heale them.

23 En ce jour-là, il y aura une route d'Egypte en Assyrie; l'Assyrien viendra en Egypte, et l'Egyptien ira en Assyrie, et l'Egypte servira Yahweh avec Assur.

In that day shall there be a path from Egypt to Asshur, and Asshur shall come into Egypt, and Egypt into Asshur: so the Egyptians shall worship with Asshur.

24 En ce jour-là, Israël s'unira, lui troisième, à l'Egypte et à l'Assyrie, pour être une bénédiction au milieu de la terre.

In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and Asshur, euen a blessing in the middes of the land.

25 Yahweh des armées les bénira en disant: " Bénis soient l'Egypte, mon peuple, et Assur, l'ouvrage de mes mains, et Israël, mon héritage! "

For the Lord of hostes shall blesse it, saying, Blessed be my people Egypt and Asshur, the worke of mine hands, and Israel mine inheritance.
