2 Chroniques 7

1 Lorsque Salomon eut achevé de prier, le feu descendit du ciel et consuma l'holocauste et les victimes, et la gloire de Yahweh remplit la maison.

And when Solomon had finished praying, then the fire came down from heaven, and devoured the whole-burnt-offerings and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house.

2 Les prêtres ne pouvaient entrer dans la maison de Yahweh, car la gloire de Yahweh remplissait sa maison.

And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord at that time, for the glory of the Lord filled the house.

3 Tous les enfants d'Israël virent descendre le feu et la gloire de Yahweh sur la maison et, tombant le visage contre terre sur le pavé, ils se prosternèrent et louèrent Yahweh, en disant: " Car il est bon, car sa miséricorde dure à jamais! "

And all the children of Israel saw the fire descending, and the glory of the Lord was upon the house: and they fell upon their face to the ground on the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the Lord; for [it is] good [to do so], because his mercy [endures] for ever.

4 Le roi et tout le peuple offrirent des sacrifices devant Yahweh.

And the king and all the people [were] offering sacrifices before the Lord.

5 Le roi Salomon immola, pour le sacrifice, vingt deux mille bœufs et cent vingt mille brebis. C'est ainsi que le roi et tout le peuple firent la dédicace de la maison de Dieu.

And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of calves twenty and two thousand, of sheep a hundred and twenty thousand: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

6 Les prêtres se tenaient à leurs postes, et les lévites aussi avec les instruments de musique de Yahweh que le roi David avait faits pour louer Yahweh, " car sa miséricorde dure à jamais! " lorsqu'il célébra Yahweh par leur ministère. Les prêtres sonnaient des trompettes vis-à-vis d'eux, et tout Israël était debout.

And the priests were standing at their watches, and the Levites with instruments of music of the Lord, belonging to king David, to give thanks before the Lord, for his mercy [endures] for ever, with the hymns of David, by their ministry: and the priests were blowing the trumpets before them, and all Israel standing.

7 Salomon consacra le milieu du parvis qui est devant la maison de Yahweh; car il offrit là les holocaustes et les graisses des sacrifices pacifiques, parce que l'autel d'airain qu'il avait fait ne pouvait contenir l'holocauste, l'oblation et les graisses.

And Solomon consecrated the middle of the court that was in the house of the Lord: for he offered there the whole-burnt-offerings and the fat of the peace-offerings, for the brazen altar which Solomon had made was not sufficient to receive the whole-burnt-offerings, and the meat-offerings, and the fat.

8 Salomon célébra la fête en ce temps-là pendant sept jours, et tout Israël avec lui, très grande multitude venue depuis l'entrée d'Emath jusqu'au torrent d'Egypte.

And Solomon kept the feast at that time seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from the entering in of Aemath, and as far as the river of Egypt.

9 Le huitième jour, ils tinrent l'assemblée de clôture; car ils avaient fait la dédicace de l'autel pendant sept jours, et la fête pendant sept jours.

And on the eighth day he kept a solemn assembly: for he kept a feast of seven days as the dedication of the altar.

10 Et le vingt troisième jour du septième mois, Salomon renvoya dans ses tentes le peuple joyeux et le cœur content pour le bien que Yahweh avait fait à David, à Salomon et à Israël, son peuple.

And on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he dismissed the people to their tents, rejoicing, and with a glad heart because of the good deeds which the Lord had done to David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

11 Salomon acheva la maison de Yahweh et la maison du roi, et il mena à bien tout ce qui lui était venu à l'esprit de faire dans la maison de Yahweh et dans la maison du roi.

So Solomon finished the house of the Lord, and the king's house: and in whatever Solomon wished in his heart to do in the house of the Lord and in his own house, he prospered.

12 Et Yahweh lui apparut pendant la nuit et lui dit: " J'ai exaucé ta prière et j'ai choisi ce lieu comme la maison où l'on m'offrira des sacrifices.

And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him, I have heard thy prayer, and I have chosen this place to myself for a house of sacrifice.

13 Quand je fermerai le ciel et qu'il n'y aura pas de pluie, quand j'ordonnerai aux sauterelles de dévorer le pays, ou quand j'enverrai la peste dans mon peuple,

If I should restrain the heaven and there should be no rain, and if I should command the locust to devour the trees, and if I should send pestilence upon my people;

14 si mon peuple, sur lequel est invoqué mon nom, s'humilie, prie et cherche ma face, et s'il se détourne de ses mauvaises voies, je l'écouterai du ciel, je lui pardonnerai son péché et je guérirai son pays.

then if my people, on whom my name is called, should repent, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, I also will hear from heaven, and I will be merciful to their sins, and I will heal their land.

15 Maintenant, mes yeux seront ouverts et mes oreilles attentives à la prière faite en ce lieu.

And now my eyes shall be open, and my ears attentive to the prayer of this place.

16 Maintenant je choisis et je sanctifie cette maison, pour que mon nom y réside à jamais, et là seront à jamais mes yeux et mon cœur.

And now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that my name should be there for ever: and my eyes and my heart shall be there always.

17 Et toi, si tu marches devant moi comme a marché David, ton père, mettant en pratique tout ce que je t'ai prescrit, et si tu observes mes lois et mes ordonnances,

And if thou wilt walk before me as David thy father [did], and wilt do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my ordinances and my judgments;

18 j'affermirai le trône de ta royauté, selon l'alliance que j'ai conclue avec David, ton père, en disant: il ne te manquera jamais un descendant qui règne en Israël.

then will I establish the throne of thy kingdom, as I covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man ruling in Israel.

19 Mais si vous vous détournez, si vous abandonnez mes lois et mes commandements que j'ai mis devant vous, et si vous allez servir d'autres dieux et vous prosterner devant eux,

But if ye should turn away, and forsake my ordinances and my commandments, which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods, and worship them;

20 je les arracherai de mon pays que je leur ai donné; cette maison que j'ai consacrée à mon nom, je la rejetterai de devant ma face, et j'en ferai un sujet de sarcasme et de raillerie parmi tous les peuples.

then will I remove you from the land which I gave them; and this house which I have consecrated to my name I will remove out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a by-word among all nations.

21 Cette maison qui était si haut placée sera un sujet de stupeur pour quiconque passera près d'elle, et il dira: Pourquoi Yahweh a-t-il ainsi traité ce pays et cette maison?

And [as for] this lofty house, every one that passes by it shall be amazed, and shall say, Wherefore has the Lord done [thus] to this land, and to this house?

22 Et l'on répondra: Parce qu'ils ont abandonné Yahweh, le Dieu de leurs pères, qui les a fait sortir du pays d'Egypte, et que, s'attachant à d'autres dieux, ils se sont prosternés devant eux et les ont servis; voilà pourquoi il a fait venir sur eux tous ces maux. "

And [men] shall say, Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and they attached themselves to other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: and therefore he has brought upon them all this evil.
