2 Chroniques 15

1 L'Esprit de Dieu vint sur Azarias, fils d'Oded,

The Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded.

2 qui alla au-devant d'Asa et lui dit: " Ecoutez-moi, Asa, et tout Juda et tout Benjamin. Yahweh est avec vous quand vous êtes avec lui; si vous le cherchez, il se laissera trouver par vous; mais si vous l'abandonnez, il vous abandonnera.

He went out to meet Asa, and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin! Yahweh is with you while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

3 Pendant longtemps Israël a été sans vrai Dieu, sans prêtre qui enseignât, sans loi;

Now for a long time Israel was without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law.

4 mais, dans sa détresse, il s'est retourné vers Yahweh, son Dieu; ils l'ont cherché, et s'est laissé trouver par eux.

But when in their distress they turned to Yahweh, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.

5 Dans ces temps-là, point de sécurité pour ceux qui allaient et venaient, car de grandes confusions pesaient sur tous les habitants des pays.

In those times there was no peace to him who went out, nor to him who came in; but great troubles were on all the inhabitants of the lands.

6 On se heurtait, peuple contre peuple, ville contre ville, parce que Dieu les agitait par toutes sortes de tribulations.

They were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city; for God troubled them with all adversity.

7 Vous donc, montrez-vous forts, et que vos mains ne faiblissent pas, car il y aura récompense pour vos œuvres. "

But you be strong! Don’t let your hands be slack, for your work will be rewarded.”

8 En entendant ces paroles, la prophétie d'Oded, le prophète, Asa prit courage; il fit disparaître les abominations de tout le pays de Juda et de Benjamin et des villes qu'il avait prises dans la montagne d'Ephraïm, et restaura l'autel de Yahweh qui était devant le portique de Yahweh.

When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill country of Ephraim; and he renewed Yahweh’s altar that was before Yahweh’s porch.

9 Il rassembla tout Juda et Benjamin, et ceux d'Ephraïm, de Manassé et de Siméon qui étaient venus séjourner parmi eux; car un grand nombre de gens d'Israël avaient passé de son côté, en voyant que Yahweh, son Dieu, était avec lui.

He gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who lived with them out of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon; for they came to him out of Israel in abundance when they saw that Yahweh his God was with him.

10 Ils s'assemblèrent à Jérusalem le troisième mois de la quinzième année du règne d'Asa.

So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign.

11 Ce jour-là, ils immolèrent à Yahweh, sur le butin qu'ils avaient amené, sept cents bœufs et sept mille brebis.

They sacrificed to Yahweh in that day, of the plunder which they had brought, seven hundred head of cattle and seven thousand sheep.

12 Ils prirent l'engagement solennel de chercher Yahweh, le Dieu de leurs pères, de tout leur cœur et de toute leur âme,

They entered into the covenant to seek Yahweh, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul;

13 et quiconque ne rechercherait pas Yahweh, le Dieu d'Israël, serait mis à mort, le petit comme le grand, l'homme comme la femme.

and that whoever would not seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

14 Ils firent un serment à Yahweh à haute voix, avec des cris d'allégresse, au son des trompettes et des cors;

They swore to Yahweh with a loud voice, with shouting, with trumpets, and with cornets.

15 tout Juda fut dans la joie de ce serment, car ils avaient juré de tout leur cœur; car c'est de leur pleine volonté qu'ils avaient cherché Yahweh, et il s'était laissé trouver par eux; et Yahweh leur donna la paix tout à l'entour.

All Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found by them. Then Yahweh gave them rest all around.

16 Le roi Asa ôta même à Maacha, sa mère, la dignité de reine-mère, parce qu'elle avait fait une idole abominable pour Astarté. Asa abattit son idole abominable et, l'ayant réduite en poudre, il la brûla au torrent de Cédron.

Also Maacah, the mother of Asa the king, he removed from being queen mother, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; so Asa cut down her image, ground it into dust, and burned it at the brook Kidron.

17 Mais les hauts lieux ne disparurent point d'Israël, quoique le cœur d'Asa fut parfait pendant toute sa vie.

But the high places were not taken away out of Israel; nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

18 Il déposa dans la maison de Dieu les choses consacrées par son père et les choses consacrées par lui-même, de l'argent, de l'or et des vases.

He brought the things that his father had dedicated and that he himself had dedicated, silver, gold, and vessels into God’s house.

19 Il n'y eut point de guerre jusqu'à la trente-cinquième année du règne d'Asa.

There was no more war to the thirty-fifth year of Asa’s reign.
