1 La dix-huitième année du roi Jéroboam, fils de Nabat, Abiam devint roi de Juda,

And in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam son of Nebat, reigned hath Abijam over Judah;

2 et il régna trois ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère se nommait Maacha, fille d'Abessalom.

three years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Maachah daughter of Abishalom;

3 Il marcha dans tous les péchés de son père qu'il avait commis avant lui, et son cœur n'était pas tout entier à Yahweh, comme l'avait été le cœur de David, son père.

and he walketh in all the sins of his father, that he did before him, and his heart hath not been perfect with Jehovah his God, as the heart of David his father;

4 Mais, à cause de David, Yahweh, son Dieu, lui donna une lampe à Jérusalem en établissant son fils après lui et en laissant subsister Jérusalem.

but for David's sake hath Jehovah his God given to him a lamp in Jerusalem, to raise up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem,

5 Car David avait fait ce qui est droit aux yeux de Yahweh, et il ne s'était pas détourné pendant toute sa vie de tous les commandements qu'il en avait reçus, excepté dans l'affaire d'Urie le Héthéen.

in that David did that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah, and turned not aside from all that He commanded him all days of his life — only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite;

6 Il y eut guerre entre Roboam et Jéroboam tant qu'il vécut.

and war hath been between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

7 Le reste des actes d'Abiam, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda. Il y eut guerre entre Abiam et Jéroboam.

And the rest of the matters of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? And war hath been between Abijam and Jeroboam;

8 Abiam se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterrera dans la ville de David. Asa, son fils, régna à sa place.

and Abijam lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city of David, and reign doth Asa his son in his stead.

9 La vingtième année de Jéroboam, roi d'Israël, Asa devint roi de Juda,

And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned hath Asa over Judah,

10 et il régna quarante et un ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Maacha, fille d'Abessalom.

and forty and one years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Maachah daughter of Abishalom.

11 Asa fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de Yahweh, comme David, son père.

And Asa doth that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah, like David his father,

12 Il fit disparaître du pays les prostitués et enleva toutes les idoles que ses pères avaient faites.

and removeth the whoremongers out of the land, and turneth aside all the idols that his fathers made;

13 Et même il ôta la dignité de reine-mère à Maacha, sa mère, parce qu'elle avait fait une idole abominable pour Astarté. Asa abattit son idole abominable et la brûla au torrent de Cédron.

and also Maachah his mother — he turneth her aside from being mistress, in that she made a horrible thing for a shrine, and Asa cutteth down her horrible thing, and burneth [it] by the brook Kidron;

14 Mais les hauts lieux ne disparurent point, quoique le cœur d'Asa fut parfaitement à Yahweh pendant toute sa vie.

and the high places have not turned aside; only, the heart of Asa hath been perfect with Jehovah all his days,

15 Il mit dans la maison de Yahweh les choses consacrées par son père et les choses consacrées par lui-même, de l'argent, de l'or et des vases.

and he bringeth in the sanctified things of his father, and his own sanctified things, to the house of Jehovah, silver, and gold, and vessels.

16 Il y eut guerre entre Asa et Baasa, roi d'Israël, pendant toute leur vie.

And war hath been between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days,

17 Baasa, roi d'Israël, monta contre Juda, et il bâtit Rama, pour empêcher les gens d'Asa, roi de Juda, de sortir et d'entrer.

and Baasha king of Israel goeth up against Judah, and buildeth Ramah, not to permit any one going out and coming in to Asa king of Judah.

18 Asa prit tout l'argent et l'or qui étaient restés dans les trésors de la maison de Yahweh et les trésors de la maison du roi, et les mit entre les mains de ses serviteurs; et le roi Asa envoya ces derniers vers Ben-Hadad, fils de Tabremon, fils de Hézion, roi de Syrie, qui habitait à Damas, pour dire:

And Asa taketh all the silver and the gold that are left in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the house of the king, and giveth them into the hand of his servants, and king Asa sendeth them unto Ben-Hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion king of Aram, who is dwelling in Damascus, saying,

19 « Qu'il y ait une alliance entre moi et toi, comme il y en avait une entre mon père et ton père. Je t'envoie un présent en argent et en or. Va, romps ton alliance avec Baasa, roi d'Israël, afin qu'il s'éloigne de moi. »

'A covenant [is] between me and thee, between my father and thy father; lo, I have sent to thee a reward of silver and gold; go, break thy covenant with Baasha king of Israel, and he goeth up from off me.'

20 Ben-Hadad écouta le roi Asa; il envoya les chefs de son armée contre les villes d'Israël, et il battit Ahion, Dan, Abel-Beth-Maacha, et tout Cenéroth avec tout le pays de Nephthali.

And Ben-Hadad hearkeneth unto king Asa, and sendeth the heads of the forces that he hath against cities of Israel, and smiteth Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and all Chinneroth, besides all the land of Naphtali;

21 Baasa, l'ayant appris, cessa de bâtir Rama, et resta à Thersa.

and it cometh to pass at Baasha's hearing, that he ceaseth from building Ramah, and dwelleth in Tirzah.

22 Le roi Asa fit convoquer tout Juda, sans exempter personne; et ils emportèrent les pierres et le bois avec lesquels Baasa construisait Rama, et le roi Asa bâtit avec eux Gabaa de Benjamin et Maspha.

And king Asa hath summoned all Judah — there is none exempt — and they lift up the stones of Ramah, and its wood, that Baasha hath built, and king Asa buildeth with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

23 Le reste de tous les actes d'Asa, tous ses exploits, et tout ce qu'il a fait, et les villes qu'il a bâties, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda? Toutefois, au temps de sa vieillesse, il eut les pieds malades.

And the rest of all the matters of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? Only, at the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet;

24 Asa se coucha avec ses pères et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David, son père; et Josaphat, son fils, régna à sa place.

and Asa lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David his father, and Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead.

25 Nadab, fils de Jéroboam, devint roi d'Israël la seconde année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et il régna deux ans sur Israël.

And Nadab son of Jeroboam hath reigned over Israel, in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigneth over Israel two years,

26 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, et il marcha dans la voie de son père et dans les péchés de son père qu'il avait fait commettre à Israël.

and doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and goeth in the way of his father, and in his sin that he made Israel to sin.

27 Baasa, fils d'Ahias, de la maison d'Issachar, conspira contre lui; et Baasa le frappa à Gebbéthon, qui appartenait aux Philistins, car Nadab et tout Israël faisaient le siège de Gebbéthon.

And conspire against him doth Baasha son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, and Baasha smiteth him in Gibbethon, which [is] to the Philistines — and Nadab and all Israel are laying siege against Gibbethon —

28 Baasa le mit à mort la troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et il régna à sa place.

yea, Baasha putteth him to death in the third year of Asa king of Judah, and reigneth in his stead.

29 Lorsqu'il fut devenu roi, il frappa toute la maison de Jéroboam; il n'épargna de la maison de Jéroboam aucune âme vivante, sans l'exterminer, selon la parole que Yahweh avait dite par l'organe de son serviteur Ahias de Silo,

And it cometh to pass, at his reigning, he hath smitten the whole house of Jeroboam, he hath not left any breathing to Jeroboam till his destroying him, according to the word of Jehovah, that He spake by the hand of His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,

30 à cause des péchés de Jéroboam qu'il avait commis, et qu'il avait fait commettre à Israël, irritant ainsi Yahweh, le Dieu d'Israël.

because of the sins of Jeroboam that he sinned, and that he caused Israel to sin, by his provocation with which he provoked to anger Jehovah, God of Israel.

31 Le reste des actes de Nadab, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?

And the rest of the matters of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

32 Il y eut guerre entre Asa et Baasa, roi d'Israël, pendant toute leur vie.

And war hath been between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

33 La troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Baasa, fils d'Ahias, devint roi sur tout Israël à Thersa, et il régna vingt-quatre ans.

In the third year of Asa king of Judah reigned hath Baasha son of Ahijah over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years,

34 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, et il marcha dans la voie de Jéroboam et dans les péchés que celui-ci avait fait commettre à Israël.

and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and walketh in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin that he caused Israel to sin.
