1 Voici la postérité d’Aaron et de Moïse, au temps où Yahweh parla à Moïse sur la montagne de Sinaï
Now, these, were the pedigrees of Aaron and Moses, —in the day when Yahweh spake with Moses in Mount Sinai.
2 Voici les noms des fils d’Aaron: Nadab, le premier-né, Abiu, Eléazar et Ithamar.
And these, are the names of the sons of Aaron—the firstborn Nadab, —and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
3 Tels sont les noms des fils d’Aaron, des prêtres ayant reçu l’onction, installés pour exercer le sacerdoce.
These, are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests that were anointed, —who were installed to minister as priests.
4 Nadab et Abiu moururent devant Yahweh, lorsqu’ils apportèrent devant Yahweh du feu étranger, dans le désert de Sinaï; ils n’avaient pas de fils. Eléazar et Ithamar exercèrent le sacerdoce en présence d’Aaron, leur père.
But Nadab and Abihu died before Yahweh when they brought near strange fire before Yahweh in the desert of Sinai, and sons, had they none, —so then Eleazar and Ithamar ministered as priests, in the presence of Aaron their father.
5 Yahweh parla à Moïse, en disant:
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying—
6 « Fais approcher la tribu de Lévi, et tu la placeras devant Aaron le prêtre, pour qu’elle soit à son service.
Bring near the tribe of Levi, and thou shalt cause it to stand before Aaron the priest, —so shall they wait upon him;
7 Ils auront la charge de tout ce qui est commis à sa charge et à la charge de toute l’assemblée, devant la tente de réunion, faisant ainsi le service de la Demeure.
so shall they keep his charge, and the charge of all the assembly, before the tent of meeting, —to do the laborious work of the habitation;
8 Ils seront chargés de tous les ustensiles de la tente de réunion, et de ce qui est commis à la charge des enfants d’Israël: ils feront ainsi le service de la Demeure.
so shall they have charge of all the furniture of the tent of meeting, even the charge of the sons of Israel, —to do the laborious work of the habitation.
9 Tu donneras les Lévites à Aaron et à ses fils; ils lui seront entièrement donnés, d’entre les enfants d’Israël.
Thus shalt thou give the Levites unto Aaron and unto his sons, —given, given, they are unto him, from among the sons of Israel;
10 Tu établiras Aaron et ses fils pour accomplir les fonctions de leur sacerdoce; l’étranger qui approchera du sanctuaire sera puni de mort. »
but unto Aaron, and unto his sons, shalt thou give oversight, so shall they keep charge of their priesthood, —and, the stranger who cometh near, shall be put to death.
11 Yahweh parla à Moïse, en disant:
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying—
12 « Voici, j’ai pris les Lévites du milieu des enfants d’Israël, à la place de tout premier-né qui ouvre le sein de sa mère parmi les enfants d’Israël, et les Lévites sont à moi.
I, therefore, lo! I have taken the Levites out of the midst of the sons of Israel, instead of every firstborn that a mother beareth, from among the sons of Israel, —so shall the Levites be mine;
13 Car tout premier-né est à moi; le jour où j’ai frappé tous les premiers nés dans le pays d’Égypte, je me suis consacré tout premier-né en Israël, tant des hommes que des animaux: ils sont à moi. Je suis Yahweh. »
for, mine, is every firstborn, in the day when I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt, I hallowed unto myself every firstborn in Israel, both of man and of beast, —mine, did they become, and belong unto me, Yahweh.
14 Yahweh parla à Moïse dans le désert de Sinaï, en disant:
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, in the desert of Sinai, saying: —
15 « Fais le recensement des enfants de Lévi selon leurs maisons patriarcales, selon leurs familles. Tu feras le recensement de tous les mâles, depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-dessus. »
Number thou the sons of Levi, by their ancestral houses, by their families, —every male, from one month old and upwards, shalt thou number them.
16 Moïse fit leur recensement sur l’ordre de Yahweh, selon qu’il lui avait été commandé.
So then Moses numbered them according to the bidding of Yahweh, —as he was commanded.
17 Voici les fils de Lévi, d’après leurs noms: Gerson, Caath et Mérari. —
And these were the sons of Levi, by their names, —Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari.
18 Voici les noms des fils de Gerson, selon leurs familles: Lebni et Séméi.
And these, the names of the sons of Gershon by their families, —Libni and Shimei.
19 Fils de Caath, selon leurs familles: Amram, Jésaar, Hébron et Oziel.
And, the sons of Kohath, by their families Amram, and Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.
20 Fils de Mérari, selon leurs familles: Moholi et Musi. — Ce sont là les familles de Lévi selon leurs maisons patriarcales.
And the sons of Merari by their families, Mahli and Mushi. These, are they—the families of the Levites by their ancestral houses.
21 De Gerson viennent la famille de Lebni et la famille de Séméi; ce sont les familles de Gersonites.
To, Gershon, belonged the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimeites, —these, are they—the families of the Gershonites.
22 Leurs recensés, en comptant tous les mâles depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-dessus, leurs recensés furent sept mille cinq cents.
They who were numbered of them in the counting of every male, from one month old, and upwards, —they who were num-bered of them, were seven thousand and five hundred.
23 Les familles des Gersonites campaient derrière la Demeure, à l’occident.
the families of the Gershonites, to the rear of the habitation, were to encamp, westward.
24 Le prince de la maison patriarcale des Gersonites était Eliasaph, fils de Laël.
And, the prince of the ancestral house of the Gershonites, was Eliasaph son of Lael.
25 En ce qui concerne la tente de réunion, les fils de Gerson avaient la charge de la Demeure et de la tente, de sa couverture, du rideau qui est à l’entrée de la tente de réunion,
And, the charge, of the sons of Gershon, was over the tent of meeting, the habitation, and the tent, —the covering thereof, and the screen for the entrance of the tent of meeting;
26 des tentures du parvis et du rideau de l’entrée du parvis, tout autour de la Demeure et de l’autel, et de ses cordages pour tout son service.
and the hangings of the court, and the screen for the entrance of the court which was near the habitation and near the altar, round about, —and the cords thereof, as to all the laborious work thereof.
27 De Caath viennent la famille des Amramites, la famille des Jésaarites, la famille des Hébronites et la famille des Oziélites; ce sont là les familles des Caathites.
And to Kohath, belonged the family of the Amramites and the family of the Izharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites, —these, are they—the families of the Kohathites.
28 En comptant tous les mâles depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-dessus, on en trouva huit mille six cents, chargés de la garde du sanctuaire.
In, the counting of every male, from one month old and upwards, there were eight thousand and six hundred, to keep the charge of the sanctuary.
29 Les familles des fils de Caath campaient au côté méridional de la Demeure.
The, families of the sons of Kohath, were to encamp, —on the side of the habitation, south-ward.
30 Le prince de la maison patriarcale des familles des Caathites était Elisaphan, fils d’Oziel.
And the prince of the ancestral house of the families of the Kohathites, was Elizaphan, son of Uzziel.
31 On confia à leur garde l’arche, la table de proposition, le chandelier, les autels, les ustensiles du sanctuaire avec lesquels on fait le service, le voile et tout ce qui se rapporte à son service.
And their charge, was—the ark and the table and the lampstand and the altars, and the utensils of the sanctuary wherewith they were to minister, —and the screen, as to all the laborious work thereof.
32 Le prince des princes des Lévites était Eléazar, fils du prêtre Aaron; il avait la surveillance de ceux qui étaient chargés de la garde du sanctuaire.
And the prince of the princes of the Levites, was Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, —to have the oversight of them that were to keep the charge of the sanctuary.
33 De Mérari viennent la famille des Moholites et la famille des Musites: ce sont là les familles des Mérarites.
To Merari, belonged the family of the Mahlites, and the family of the Mushites, —these, are they—the families of Merari.
34 Leurs recensés, en comptant tous les mâles depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-dessus, furent six mille deux cents.
And they who were numbered of them in the counting of every male, from one month old and upwards, were six thousand, and two hundred.
35 Le prince de la maison patriarcale des familles de Mérari était Suriel, fils d’Abihaiel. Ils campaient au côté septentrional de la Demeure.
And the prince of the ancestral house of the families of Merari, was Zuriel son of Abihail, —on the side of the habitation, were they to encamp northward.
36 Les fils de Mérari eurent le soin et la garde des ais de la Demeure, de ses traverses, de ses colonnes et de leurs socles, de tous ses ustensiles et de tout son service,
And the oversight of the charge of the sons of Merari, was—the boards of the habitation, and the bars thereof and the pillars thereof and the sockets thereof, —and all the furniture thereof, as to all the laborious work thereof;
37 des colonnes du parvis tout autour, de leurs socles, de leurs pieux et de leurs cordages.
also the pillars of the court round about and their sockets, —and their pins and their cords.
38 En face de la Demeure, à l’orient, devant la tente de réunion, au levant, campaient Moïse, Aaron et ses fils; ils avaient la garde du sanctuaire, pour ce qui était remis à la garde des enfants d’Israël; l’étranger qui s’en approcherait devait être puni de mort.
But, they who were to encamp before the habitation eastwards before the tent of meeting, towards sunrise, were Moses and Aaron and his sons. to keep the charge of the sanctuary, as the charge of the sons of Israel and, the stranger that came near, was to be put to death.
39 Total des Lévites recensés dont Moïse fit le recensement sur l’ordre de Yahweh selon leurs familles, de tous les mâles depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-dessus: vingt-deux mille.
All they who were numbered of the Levites whom Moses [and Aaron] numbered at the bidding of Yahweh by their families, —every male, from one month old and upwards, were two-and-twenty thousand.
40 Yahweh dit à Moïse: « Fais le recensement de tous les premiers-nés mâles parmi les enfants d’Israël, depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-dessus, et fais le compte de leurs noms.
And Yahweh said unto Moses: Number thou every firstborn male belonging to the sons of Israel, from one month old and upwards, —and reckon up the number of their names;
41 Tu prendras les Lévites pour moi, — je suis Yahweh, — à la place de tous les premiers-nés des enfants d’Israël, et le bétail des Lévites à la place de tous les premiers-nés du bétail des enfants d’Israël. »
then shalt thou take the Levites for me, me Yahweh, instead of every firstborn among the sons of Israel, —also the cattle of the Levites, instead of every firstling among the cattle of the sons of Israel.
42 Moïse fit le recensement de tous les premiers-nés parmi les enfants d’Israël, selon l’ordre que Yahweh lui avait donné.
So then Moses numbered, as Yahweh commanded him, —every firstborn among the sons of Israel.
43 Tous les premiers-nés mâles, comptés par leurs noms, depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-dessus, dont on fit le recensement, furent vingt-deux mille deux cent soixante-treize.
And it was so—that all the firstborn of the males in the counting of names from one month old and upwards of such as were numbered of them, —were two-and-twenty thousand, two hundred and seventy-three.
44 Yahweh parla à Moïse, en disant:
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying: —
45 « Prends les Lévites à la place de tous les premiers-nés des enfants d’Israël, et le bétail des Lévites à la place de leur bétail; et les Lévites seront à moi. Je suis Yahweh.
Take the Levites, instead of all the firstborn among the sons of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites, instead of their cattle, —so shall the Levites belong unto me, me Yahweh;
46 Pour le rachat des deux cent soixante-treize d’entre les premiers-nés des enfants d’Israël qui dépassent le nombre des Lévites,
and as the ransom of the two hundred and seventy-three, —who are more than the Levites, of the firstborn of the sons of Israel,
47 tu prendras cinq sicles par tête; tu les prendras selon le sicle du sanctuaire, qui est de vingt guéras.
thou shalt take five shekels apiece by the poll, —by the shekel of the sanctuary, shalt thou take it, twenty gerahs to the shekel;
48 Tu donneras l’argent à Aaron et à ses fils pour le rachat de ceux qui dépassent le nombre des Lévites. »
and shalt give the silver to Aaron and to his sons, —as the ransom of them that are in excess over them.
49 Moïse prit l’argent pour le rachat de ceux qui dépassaient le nombre des premiers-nés rachetés par les Lévites;
So Moses took the redemption silver from them who were in excess over them who were redeemed by the Levites:
50 il prit l’argent des premiers-nés des enfants d’Israël, mille trois cent soixante-cinq sicles, selon le sicle du sanctuaire.
from the firstborn of the sons of Israel, took he the silver, —a thousand three hundred and sixty-five shekels, by the shekel of the sanctuary,
51 Et Moïse donna l’argent du rachat à Aaron et à ses fils, sur l’ordre de Yahweh, selon que Yahweh l’avait ordonné à Moïse.
And Moses gave the redemption silver to Aaron and to his sons at the bidding of Yahweh, —As Yahweh commanded Moses.
