Isaïe 3
1 Car voici que le Seigneur, Yahweh des armées, va retirer de Jérusalem et de Juda toute ressource et tout appui, toute ressource de pain et toute ressource d’eau,
For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, every stay of bread, and every stay of water;
2 héros et homme de guerre, juge, prophète et devin, ancien,
The mighty man, and the man of war; the judge, and the prophet, and the diviner, and the elder;
3 capitaine et notable, conseiller, ouvrier expert en son art et habile enchanteur.
The captain of fifty, and the man of rank, and the counsellor, and the cunning charmer, and the skilful enchanter.
4 Et je leur donnerai des jeunes gens pour princes, et des enfants domineront sur eux.
And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
5 Et le peuple se ruera homme contre homme, chacun contre son voisin; ils se précipiteront, le jeune homme contre le vieillard, et l’homme de rien contre le plus illustre.
And the people shall oppress one another, every man his fellow, and every man his neighbour; the child shall behave insolently against the aged, and the base against the honourable,
6 Lorsqu’un homme prendra son frère dans la maison de son père, en disant: « Tu as un manteau, sois notre chef, et que cette ruine soit sous ta garde! »
For a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father: 'Thou hast a mantle, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand.'
7 Il se récriera en ce jour-là: « Je ne veux pas être le médecin: je n’ai dans ma maison ni pain ni manteau; ne me faites pas chef du peuple. »
In that day shall he swear, saying: 'I will not be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor a mantle; ye shall not make me ruler of a people.'
8 Car Jérusalem chancelle et Juda s’écroule, parce que leurs paroles et leurs œuvres sont contre Yahweh, pour braver le regard de sa majesté.
For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of His glory.
9 L’air de leur visage dépose contre eux; comme Sodome, ils publient leur péché et ne s’en cachent point. Malheur à eux! car ils sont eux-mêmes les auteurs de leur perte.
The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have wrought evil unto themselves.
10 Dites au juste qu’il est heureux, car il mangera le fruit de ses œuvres.
Say ye of the righteous, that it shall be well with him; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Malheur au méchant! mal lui arrivera, car ce que ses mains ont fait lui sera rendu.
Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him; for the work of his hands shall be done to him.
12 Mon peuple est opprimé par des enfants, et des femmes le gouvernent. Mon peuple, ceux qui te dirigent t’égarent, et ils ruinent le chemin où tu dois passer.
As for My people, a babe is their master, and women rule over them. O My people, they that lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
13 Yahweh s’est levé pour rendre la justice, et il est debout pour juger les peuples.
The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the peoples.
14 Yahweh entre en jugement avec les anciens et les princes de son peuple: « Vous avez brouté la vigne; la dépouille du pauvre est dans vos maisons.
The LORD will enter into judgment with the elders of His people, and the princes thereof: 'It is ye that have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses;
15 De quel droit foulez-vous mon peuple, et écrasez-vous la face des malheureux? » — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh des armées.
What mean ye that ye crush My people, and grind the face of the poor?' saith the Lord, the GOD of hosts.
16 Yahweh a dit: Parce que les filles de Sion sont devenues orgueilleuses, qu’elles s’avancent la tête haute, lançant des regards, qu’elles vont à petits pas, et font sonner les anneaux de leurs pieds,
Moreover the LORD said: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet;
17 le Seigneur rendra chauve le crâne des filles de Sion, et Yahweh découvrira leur nudité.
Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will lay bare their secret parts.
18 En ce jour-là, le Seigneur enlèvera le luxe des anneaux, les soleils et les croissants;
In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their anklets, and the fillets, and the crescents;
19 les pendants d’oreille, les bracelets et les voiles;
the pendants, and the bracelets, and the veils;
20 les diadèmes, les chaînettes des pieds et les ceintures;
the headtires, and the armlets, and the sashes, and the corselets, and the amulets;
21 les boîtes à parfum et les amulettes, les bagues et les anneaux du nez;
the rings, and the nose-jewels;
22 les robes de fête et les larges tuniques, les manteaux et les bourses;
the aprons, and the mantelets, and the cloaks, and the girdles;
23 les miroirs et les mousselines, les turbans et les mantilles.
and the gauze robes, and the fine linen, and the turbans, and the mantles.
24 Et, au lieu de parfum, il y aura la pourriture; au lieu de ceinture, une corde; au lieu de cheveux bouclés, une tête chauve; au lieu d’une ample robe, un sac; au lieu de beauté, la marque imprimée par le feu.
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet spices there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle rags; and instead of curled hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; branding instead of beauty.
25 Tes guerriers tomberont par l’épée, et tes héros dans la bataille.
Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
26 Les portes de Sion gémiront et seront dans le deuil, et, désolée, elle sera assise dans la poussière.
And her gates shall lament and mourn; and utterly bereft she shall sit upon the ground.
