Esdras 6

1 Alors le roi Darius rendit un décret et l’on fit des recherches dans la maison des archives, où étaient déposés les trésors, à Babylone.

Then King Darius gaue commandement, and they made search in the librarie of the treasures, which were there layd vp in Babel.

2 Et l’on trouva à Ecbatane, la forteresse qui est en la province de Médie, un rouleau sur lequel était écrit le document suivant:

And there was founde in a coffer (in the palace that was in the prouince of the Medes) a volume, and therein was it thus written, as a memoriall,

3 « La première année du roi Cyrus, le roi Cyrus a donné cet ordre: que la maison de Dieu qui est à Jérusalem, que cette maison soit rebâtie pour être un lieu où l’on offre des sacrifices, et que les fondations soient solidement posées. Sa hauteur sera de soixante coudées et sa largeur de soixante coudées.

IN THE FIRST yeere of King Cyrus, King Cyrus made a decree for the house of God in Ierusalem, Let the house be buylt, euen the place where they offred sacrifices, and let the walles thereof be ioyned together: let the height thereof be three score cubites, and the breadth thereof three score cubites,

4 Il y aura trois rangées de pierre de taille et une rangée de bois; la dépense sera payée par la maison du roi.

Three orders of great stones, and one order of timber, and let the expenses be giuen of the Kings house.

5 En outre, on rendra les ustensiles d’or et d’argent de la maison de Dieu, que Nabuchodonosor avait enlevés du temple qui est à Jérusalem, et ils seront transportés au temple qui est à Jérusalem, à la place où ils étaient, et tu les déposeras dans la maison de Dieu. »

And also let them render the vessels of the house of God (of golde and siluer, which Nebuchadnezzar tooke out of the Temple, which was in Ierusalem, and brought vnto Babel) and let him goe vnto the Temple that is in Ierusalem to his place, and put them in the house of God.

6 « ... Maintenant, Thathanaï, gouverneur d’au delà du fleuve, Stharbuzanaï et vos compagnons d’Apharsach, qui êtes au delà du fleuve, tenez-vous éloignés de là,

Therefore Tatnai captaine beyond the Riuer, and Shethar Boznai, (and their companions Apharsecaie, which are beyonde the Riuer) be ye farre from thence.

7 et laissez continuer les travaux de cette maison de Dieu; que le gouverneur des Juifs et les anciens des Juifs rebâtissent cette maison de Dieu sur son ancien emplacement.

Suffer ye the worke of this house of God, that the captaine of the Iewes and the Elders of the Iewes may buylde this house of God in his place.

8 Voici l’ordre que je donne touchant ce que vous devez faire avec ces anciens des Juifs pour rebâtir cette maison de Dieu: sur les biens du roi, provenant des impôts d’au delà du fleuve, la dépense sera exactement payée à ces hommes, afin qu’il n’y ait pas d’interruption.

For I haue giuen a commandement what ye shall doe to the Elders of these Iewes, for the buylding of this house of God, that of the reuenues of the King, which is of the tribute beyonde the Riuer, there be incontinently expenses giuen vnto these men that they cease not.

9 Ce qui sera nécessaire pour les holocaustes du Dieu du ciel, jeunes taureaux, béliers et agneaux, froment, sel, vin et huile, selon l’ordonnance des prêtres qui sont à Jérusalem, leur sera donné jour par jour, sans faute,

And that which they shall haue neede of, let it be giuen vnto them day by day, whether it be yong bullockes, or rammes, or lambes for the burnt offrings of the God of heauen, wheate, salt, wine, and oyle, according to the appoyntment of the Priestes that are in Ierusalem, that there bee no fault,

10 afin qu’ils offrent des sacrifices d’agréable odeur au Dieu du ciel, et qu’ils prient pour la vie du roi et de ses fils.

That they may haue to offer sweete odours vnto the God of heauen, and praye for the Kings life, and for his sonnes.

11 Je donne aussi cet ordre: Si quelqu’un change cette parole, qu’on arrache de sa maison une poutre, qu’il y soit suspendu et attaché, et qu’à cause de cela l’on fasse de sa maison un tas d’immondices.

And I haue made a decree, that whosoeuer shall alter this sentence, the wood shall be pulled downe from his house, and shall be set vp, and he shalbe hanged thereon, and his house shalbe made a dunghill for this.

12 Que le Dieu qui fait résider là son nom renverse tout roi et tout peuple qui étendraient la main pour changer ce décret et détruire cette maison de Dieu qui est à Jérusalem! Moi, Darius, j’ai donné cet ordre: qu’il soit ponctuellement exécuté. »

And the God that hath caused his Name to dwell there, destroy all Kings and people that put to their hand to alter, and to destroy this house of God, which is in Ierusalem. I Darius haue made a decree, let it be done with speede.

13 Alors Thathanaï, gouverneur d’au delà du fleuve, Stharbuzanaï et leurs compagnons se conformèrent ponctuellement à l’ordre que le roi Darius leur avait envoyé.

Then Tatnai the captaine beyond the Riuer, and Shethar Boznai and their companions, according to that which Darius had sent, so they did speedily.

14 Et les anciens d’Israël se mirent à bâtir et firent des progrès, soutenus par les prophéties d’Aggée, le prophète, et de Zacharie, fils d’Addo. Ils bâtirent et achevèrent, d’après l’ordre du Dieu d’Israël et d’après l’ordre de Cyrus, de Darius et d’Artaxerxès, roi de Perse.

So the Elders of the Iewes builded, and they prospered by the prophecying of Haggai the Prophet, and Zechariah the sonne of Iddo, and they buylded and finished it, by the appoyntment of the God of Israel, and by the commandement of Cyrus and Darius, and Artahshashte king of Persia.

15 On acheva cette maison le troisième jour du mois d’Adar, dans la sixième année du règne du roi Darius.

And this house was finished the thirde day of the moneth Adar, which was the sixt yeere of the reigne of King Darius.

16 Les enfants d’Israël, les prêtres et les lévites, et le reste des fils de la captivité, firent avec joie la dédicace de cette maison de Dieu.

And the children of Israel, the Priestes, and the Leuites, and the residue of the children of the captiuitie kept the dedication of this house of God with ioy,

17 Ils offrirent, pour la dédicace de cette maison de Dieu, cent taureaux, deux cents béliers, quatre cents agneaux, et, comme victimes pour le péché, en faveur de tout Israël, douze boucs, d’après le nombre des tribus d’Israël.

And offred at the dedication of this house of God an hundreth bullockes, two hundreth rams, foure hundreth lambes, and twelue goates, for the sinne of all Israel, according to the nomber of the tribes of Israel.

18 Ils établirent les prêtres selon leurs divisions et les lévites selon leurs classes pour le service du Dieu qui est à Jérusalem, comme il est écrit dans le livre de Moïse.

And they set the Priests in their order, and the Leuites in their courses ouer the seruice of God in Ierusalem, as it is written in the booke of Moses.

19 Les fils de la captivité célébrèrent la Pâque le quatorzième jour du premier mois.

And the childre of the captiuitie kept the Passeouer on ye fourtenth day of the first moneth.

20 Car les prêtres et les lévites sans exception s’étaient purifiés; tous étaient purs; et ils immolèrent la Pâque pour tous les fils de la captivité, pour leurs frères les prêtres et pour eux-mêmes.

(For the Priests and the Leuites were purified altogether) and they killed the Passeouer for all the children of the captiuitie, and for their brethren the Priests, and for themselues.

21 Les enfants d’Israël revenus de la captivité mangèrent la Pâque, ainsi que tous ceux qui s’étaient séparés de l’impureté des nations du pays pour se joindre à eux afin de chercher Yahweh, le Dieu d’Israël.

So the children of Israel which were come againe out of captiuitie, and all such as had separated themselues vnto them, from the filthines of the Heathen of the land, to seeke the Lord God of Israel, did eate,

22 Ils célébrèrent avec joie pendant sept jours la fête des Azymes; car Yahweh les avait réjouis en tournant vers eux le cœur du roi d’Assyrie, pour soutenir leurs mains dans l’œuvre de la maison de Dieu, du Dieu d’Israël.

And they kept ye feast of vnleauened bread seuen dayes with ioy: for the Lord had made them glad, and turned the heart of the King of Asshur vnto them, to incourage them in the worke of the house of God, euen the God of Israel.
