Job 24
1 « Pourquoi les temps ne sont-ils pas mis en réserve par le Tout-Puissant? Pourquoi ceux qui le connaissent ne voient pas ses jours?
Why are times for judging wicked people not set by the Almighty? Why do not those who are faithful to God see his days of judgment come?
2 Il y a des gens qui enlèvent les points de repère. Ils enlèvent violemment les troupeaux, et les nourrissent.
There are wicked people who remove boundary markers; there are wicked people who take away flocks by force and put them in their own pastures.
3 Ils chassent l'âne de l'orphelin, et ils prennent le bœuf de la veuve en gage.
They drive away the donkey of those without fathers; they take the widow's ox as security.
4 Ils détournent les indigents du chemin. Les pauvres de la terre se cachent tous.
They force needy people out of their path; poor people of the earth all hide themselves from them.
5 Voici, comme des ânes sauvages dans le désert, ils se rendent à leur travail, cherchant assidûment leur nourriture. Le désert leur donne du pain pour leurs enfants.
See, these poor people go out to their work like wild donkeys in the wilderness, looking carefully for food; perhaps the Arabah will provide them food for their children.
6 Ils coupent leur nourriture dans les champs. Ils glanent la vigne des méchants.
Poor people reap in the night in other people's fields; they glean grapes from the harvest of those wicked people.
7 Ils sont couchés toute la nuit, nus et sans vêtements, et n'ont aucune couverture dans le froid.
They lie naked all night without clothing; they have no covering in the cold.
8 Ils sont mouillés par les pluies des montagnes, et embrasser le rocher, faute d'abri.
They are wet with the showers of the mountains; they lie next to large rocks because they have no shelter.
9 Il y a ceux qui arrachent l'orphelin de la poitrine, et prendre un gage des pauvres,
There are wicked people who pluck orphans from their mothers' breast, and wicked people who take children as security from poor people.
10 de sorte qu'ils se promènent nus sans vêtements. Ayant faim, ils portent les gerbes.
But the poor people go about naked without clothing; although they go hungry, they carry bundles of grain belonging to other people.
11 Ils font de l'huile dans les murs de ces hommes. Ils foulent les pressoirs, et souffrent de la soif.
The poor people make oil within the walls of those wicked men; they tread the wicked men's winepresses, but they themselves suffer thirst.
12 De la ville populeuse, des hommes gémissent. L'âme du blessé crie, mais Dieu ne regarde pas la folie.
From out of the city the dying groan, and the throat of the wounded cries out for help. But God does not ascribe blame
13 « Ceux-là sont de ceux qui se rebellent contre la lumière. Ils ne connaissent pas ses méthodes, ni rester sur ses chemins.
Some of these wicked people rebel against the light; they know not its ways, nor do they stay in its paths.
14 Le meurtrier se lève avec la lumière. Il tue les pauvres et les nécessiteux. Dans la nuit, il est comme un voleur.
Before daylight the murderer rises and he kills poor and needy people; in the night he is like a thief.
15 L'œil de l'adultère attend aussi le crépuscule, en disant: « Aucun œil ne me verra ». Il déguise son visage.
Also, the eye of the adulterer waits for the twilight; he says, 'No eye will see me.' He disguises his face.
16 Dans l'obscurité, ils creusent dans les maisons. Ils s'enferment pendant la journée. Ils ne connaissent pas la lumière.
In the darkness wicked people dig into houses; but they shut themselves up in the daytime; they do not care for the light.
17 Car le matin est pour eux tous comme une épaisse obscurité, car ils connaissent les terreurs de l'épaisse obscurité.
For all of them, thick darkness is like the morning; for they are friends with the terrors of thick darkness.
18 « Ils sont de l'écume à la surface des eaux. Leur part est maudite sur la terre. Ils ne prennent pas le chemin des vignobles.
Swiftly they pass away, however, like foam on the surface of the waters; their portion of the land is cursed; no one goes to work in their vineyards.
19 La sécheresse et la chaleur consument les eaux de la neige, ainsi que le séjour des morts pour ceux qui ont péché. (Sheol h7585)
As drought and heat melt away the snow into waters, so Sheol takes away those who have sinned. (Sheol h7585)
20 Le ventre de la mère l'oubliera. Le ver se nourrira doucement de lui. On ne se souviendra plus de lui. L'iniquité sera brisée comme un arbre.
The womb that bore him will forget him; the worm will feed sweetly on him; he will be remembered no more; in this way, wickedness will be broken like a tree.
21 Il dévore les stériles qui ne portent pas. Il ne montre aucune gentillesse envers la veuve.
The wicked one devours the barren women who have not borne children; he does no good to the widow.
22 Mais Dieu préserve les puissants par sa puissance. Il se lève qui n'a pas d'assurance de vie.
Yet God drags away the mighty people by his power; he rises up and does not strengthen them in life.
23 Dieu leur donne la sécurité, et ils s'y reposent. Ses yeux sont sur leurs chemins.
God allows them to think they are secure, and they are happy about that, but his eyes are on their ways.
24 Ils sont exaltés; encore un peu de temps, et ils disparaissent. Oui, ils sont rabaissés, ils sont mis à l'écart comme tous les autres, et sont coupés comme les sommets des épis.
These people are exalted; still, in only a little while, they will be gone; indeed, they will be brought low; they will be gathered up like all the others; they will be cut off like the tops of ears of grain.
25 Si ce n'est pas le cas maintenant, qui prouvera que je suis un menteur? et faire en sorte que mon discours ne vaille rien? »
If it is not so, who can prove me to be a liar; who can make my speech worth nothing?”
