Jérémie 48
1 De Moab. Yahvé des Armées, le Dieu d'Israël, dit: « Malheur à Nebo! Car elle est dévastée. Kiriathaim est déçu. Il est pris. Misgab est mis à mal et en panne.

3 Le son d'un cri venant de Horonaim, désolation et grande destruction!

4 Moab est détruit. Ses petits ont fait entendre un cri.

5 Car ils monteront par la montée de Luhith en pleurant continuellement. Car à la descente des Horonaïm, ils ont entendu la détresse du cri de destruction.
For by the ascent of Luhith with continual weeping shall they go up; for at the descent of Horonaim they have heard the distress of the cry of destruction.
6 Fuyez! Sauvez vos vies! Soyez comme le buisson de genévrier dans le désert.
"Flee, save your lives, and be like a shrub in the wilderness."
7 Car, parce que tu t'es confié dans tes œuvres et dans tes trésors, vous serez également pris. Chemosh partira en captivité, ses prêtres et ses princes ensemble.
For, because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you also shall be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity, his priests and his officials together.
8 Le destructeur s'abattra sur toutes les villes, et aucune ville n'y échappera; la vallée aussi périra, et la plaine sera détruite, comme Yahvé l'a dit.
The destroyer shall come on every city, and no city shall escape; the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed; as the LORD has spoken.
9 Donnez des ailes à Moab, pour qu'elle puisse voler et s'enfuir: et ses villes deviendront une désolation, sans personne pour les habiter.
Give wings to Moab, that she may fly and get her away: and her cities shall become a desolation, without any to dwell in them.'
10 « Maudit soit celui qui accomplit l'œuvre de Yahvé avec négligence; et maudit soit celui qui retient son épée du sang.
Cursed is he who does the work of the LORD negligently; and cursed is he who keeps back his sword from blood.
11 « Moab a été à l'aise dès sa jeunesse, et il s'est installé sur sa lie, et n'a pas été vidée d'un navire à l'autre, et il n'est pas allé en captivité; son goût reste donc en lui, et son odeur n'est pas modifiée.
'Moab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his lees, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither has he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remains in him, and his scent is not changed.
12 C'est pourquoi voici, les jours viennent, dit Yahvé, « que j'enverrai vers lui ceux qui versent, et ils vont le verser; et ils videront ses vaisseaux, et briser leurs récipients en morceaux.
Therefore look, the days come,' says the LORD, 'that I will send to him those who pour off, and they shall pour him off; and they shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles in pieces.
13 Moab aura honte de Kemosch, comme la maison d'Israël a eu honte de Béthel, sa confiance.
Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.
14 « Comment pouvez-vous dire: « Nous sommes des hommes puissants »? et des hommes vaillants pour la guerre »?
How can you say, "We are mighty men, and valiant men for the war?"
15 Moab est dévasté, et ils sont montés dans ses villes, et ses jeunes hommes choisis sont allés à l'abattoir, » dit le Roi, dont le nom est Yahvé des Armées.
Moab is laid waste, and they are gone up into his cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter,' says the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
16 « La calamité de Moab est proche, et son malheur se précipite.

17 Vous tous qui êtes autour de lui, plaignez-vous de lui; et vous tous qui connaissez son nom, dites, « Comment le personnel fort est brisé, la belle tige!

18 « Fille qui habite à Dibon, descends de ta gloire, et s'asseoir dans la soif; car le destructeur de Moab est monté contre toi. Il a détruit vos forteresses.
You daughter who dwells in Dibon, come down from your glory, and sit in thirst; for the destroyer of Moab has come up against you, he has destroyed your strongholds.
19 Habitant d'Arœr, tenez-vous sur le chemin et veillez. Demandez à celui qui fuit, et à celle qui s'échappe; dire: « Qu'est-ce qui a été fait?

20 Moab est déçu; car il est en panne. Gémissez et pleurez! Dites par l'Arnon que Moab est dévasté.

21 Le jugement est venu sur le pays de la plaine - sur Holon, sur Jahzah, sur Mephaath,

22 sur Dibon, sur Nebo, sur Beth Diblathaim,

25 La corne de Moab est coupée, et son bras est cassé », dit Yahvé.
The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken,' says the LORD.
26 « Fais-le boire, car il s'est élevé contre Yahvé. Moab se vautrera dans son vomi, et lui aussi sera tourné en dérision.

27 Car Israël n'était-il pas pour vous une dérision? Il a été trouvé parmi des voleurs? Car aussi souvent que vous parlez de lui, vous secouez la tête.

28 Vous, habitants de Moab, quittez les villes, et habitez le rocher. Soyez comme la colombe qui fait son nid au-dessus de la bouche de l'abîme.
You inhabitants of Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock; and be like the dove that makes her nest over the mouth of the abyss.
29 « Nous avons entendu parler de l'orgueil de Moab. Il est très fier de sa hauteur, de son orgueil, son arrogance, et l'arrogance de son cœur.
We have heard of the pride of Moab--he is very proud--of his pride, and his vanity, and his arrogance, and the haughtiness of his heart.
30 Je connais sa colère, dit Yahvé, et je sais qu'elle n'est rien; ses fanfaronnades n'ont rien donné.

31 C'est pourquoi je me lamenterai sur Moab. Oui, je vais crier pour tout Moab. Ils pleureront les hommes de Kir Heres.

32 Avec plus que les pleurs de Jazer Je pleurerai pour toi, vigne de Sibma. Vos branches sont passées au-dessus de la mer. Ils ont atteint jusqu'à la mer de Jazer. Le destructeur s'est abattu sur vos fruits d'été. et sur votre millésime.
With more than the weeping of Jazer will I weep for you, vine of Sibmah: your branches passed over the sea, they reached even to Jazer; on your summer fruits and on your vintage the destroyer is fallen.
33 L'allégresse et la joie sont enlevées du champ fructueux. et du pays de Moab. J'ai fait cesser le vin dans les pressoirs. Personne ne marchera en criant. Les cris ne seront pas des cris.
Gladness and joy is taken away from the fruitful field and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to cease from the wine presses: none shall tread with shouting; the shouting shall be no shouting.
34 Depuis le cri de Heshbon jusqu'à Elealeh, jusqu'à Jahaz, ils ont fait entendre leur voix, depuis Zoar jusqu'à Horonaïm, jusqu'à Eglath Shelishiyah; car les eaux de Nimrim deviendront aussi désolées.
From the cry of Heshbon even to Elealeh, even to Jahaz have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim, to Eglath Shelishiyah: for the waters of Nimrim also shall become desolate.
35 Je ferai cesser les activités de Moab, dit l'Éternel, « celui qui offre dans le haut lieu, et celui qui brûle de l'encens à ses dieux.
And I will cause to cease in Moab,' says the LORD, 'the one who offers sacrifice upon the high place, and the one who burns incense to his gods.
36 C'est pourquoi mon cœur résonne pour Moab comme des flûtes, et mon cœur sonne comme des flûtes pour les hommes de Kir Heres. C'est pourquoi l'abondance qu'il a obtenue a péri.
Therefore my heart sounds for Moab like pipes, and my heart sounds like pipes for the men of Kir Heres: therefore the abundance that he has gotten is perished.
37 Car toutes les têtes sont chauves, et chaque barbe coupée. Il y a des boutures sur toutes les mains, et le sac sur la taille.
For every head is bald, and every beard clipped: on all the hands are cuttings, and on the waist sackcloth.
38 Sur tous les toits de Moab, et dans ses rues, on se lamente partout; car j'ai brisé Moab comme un vase qui ne plaît à personne, dit Yahvé.
On all the housetops of Moab and in its streets there is lamentation every where; for I have broken Moab like a vessel in which none delights,' says the LORD.
39 « Comme elle est brisée! Comme ils gémissent! Comme Moab a tourné le dos avec honte! Ainsi Moab deviendra-t-il une dérision et une terreur pour tous ceux qui l'entourent. »
How it is broken down. How they wail. How Moab has turned the back with shame. So shall Moab become a derision and a terror to all who are around him.'
40 Car Yahvé dit: « Voici, il volera comme un aigle, et il déploiera ses ailes contre Moab.
For thus says the LORD: 'Look, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread out his wings against Moab.
41 Kerioth est pris, et les forteresses sont saisies. Le cœur des puissants hommes de Moab en ce jour-là sera comme le cœur d'une femme dans ses douleurs.
Kerioth is taken, and the strongholds are seized, and the heart of the mighty men of Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
42 Moab sera détruit et ne constituera plus un peuple, parce qu'il s'est élevé contre Yahvé.
Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he has magnified himself against the LORD.
43 La terreur, la fosse et le piège sont sur toi, habitant de Moab », dit Yahvé.
Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are on you, inhabitant of Moab, says the LORD.
44 « Celui qui fuit la terreur tombera dans la fosse; et celui qui sortira de la fosse sera pris au piège, car je vais faire tomber sur lui, même sur Moab, l'année de leur visite », dit Yahvé.
He who flees from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he who gets up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring on him, even on Moab, the year of their visitation,' says the LORD.
45 « Ceux qui ont fui se tiennent sans force sous l'ombre de Heshbon; car un feu est sorti de Heshbon, et une flamme du milieu de Sihon, et a dévoré le coin de Moab, et la couronne de la tête des tumultueux.
'Those who fled stand without strength under the shadow of Heshbon; for a fire has gone forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the city of Sihon, and it has destroyed the forehead of Moab, and the crown of the sons of tumult.
46 Malheur à toi, ô Moab! Le peuple de Chemosh est défait; car tes fils sont emmenés en captivité, et tes filles en captivité.
Woe to you, O Moab. The people of Chemosh is undone; for your sons are taken away captive, and your daughters into captivity.
47 « Mais, dans la suite des temps, je ramènerai les captifs de Moab, » dit Yahvé. Ainsi va le jugement de Moab.
Yet will I bring back the captivity of Moab in the latter days,' says the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab."
