Jérémie 47
1 Parole de Yahvé qui fut adressée à Jérémie, le prophète, sur les Philistins, avant que Pharaon ne frappe Gaza.
The LORD’s word that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza.
2 Yahvé dit: « Voici que des eaux montent du nord, et deviendra un ruisseau débordant, et débordera le pays et tout ce qui s'y trouve, la ville et ceux qui l'habitent. Les hommes vont pleurer, et tous les habitants du pays se lamenteront.
The LORD says: “Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and will become an overflowing stream, and will overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and those who dwell therein. The men will cry, and all the inhabitants of the land will wail.
3 Au bruit du piétinement des sabots de ses forts, au bruit de ses chars, au grondement de ses roues, les pères ne regardent pas en arrière pour leurs enfants parce que leurs mains sont si faibles,
At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers don’t look back for their children because their hands are so feeble,
4 à cause du jour qui vient pour détruire tous les Philistins, de retrancher de Tyr et de Sidon toute aide qui subsiste; car Yahvé va détruire les Philistins, le reste de l'île de Caphtor.
because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains; for the LORD will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.
5 La calvitie est apparue à Gaza; Ashkelon est réduite à néant. Vous êtes le vestige de leur vallée, combien de temps allez-vous vous couper?
Baldness has come on Gaza; Ashkelon is brought to nothing. You remnant of their valley, how long will you cut yourself?
6 "'Épée de Yahvé, combien de temps faudra-t-il pour que tu te taises? Remets-toi dans ton fourreau; reposez-vous, et restez tranquille.
“‘You sword of the LORD, how long will it be before you are quiet? Put yourself back into your scabbard; rest, and be still.’
7 « Comment pouvez-vous être tranquille, depuis que Yahvé vous a donné un ordre? Contre Ashkelon, et contre le bord de la mer, là où il l'a désigné. »
“How can you be quiet, since the LORD has given you a command? Against Ashkelon, and against the seashore, there he has appointed it.”
