Isaïe 58

1 « Criez à haute voix! N'épargnez pas! Élevez votre voix comme une trompette! Déclarez à mon peuple sa désobéissance, et à la maison de Jacob leurs péchés.

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a horn, and declare unto My people their transgression, and to the house of Jacob their sins.

2 Mais ils me cherchent chaque jour, et se réjouissent de connaître mes voies. Comme une nation qui a fait le bien, et n'ont pas abandonné l'ordonnance de leur Dieu, ils me demandent des jugements justes. Ils se plaisent à s'approcher de Dieu.

Yet they seek Me daily, and delight to know My ways; as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God, they ask of Me righteous ordinances, they delight to draw near unto God.

3 Pourquoi avons-nous jeûné, disent-ils, et ne voyez-vous pas? Pourquoi avons-nous affligé notre âme, et vous ne vous en apercevez pas? ». « Voici qu'au jour de ton jeûne tu trouves du plaisir, et opprimez tous vos ouvriers.

'Wherefore have we fasted, and Thou seest not? Wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and Thou takest no knowledge?' — Behold, in the day of your fast ye pursue your business, and exact all your labours.

4 Voici, vous jeûnez pour des querelles et des disputes, et de frapper avec le poing de la méchanceté. Vous ne jeûnez pas aujourd'hui pour faire entendre votre voix en haut lieu.

Behold, ye fast for strife and contention, and to smite with the fist of wickedness; ye fast not this day so as to make your voice to be heard on high.

5 Est-ce le jeûne que j'ai choisi? Un jour où un homme doit humilier son âme? Est-ce de baisser sa tête comme un roseau, et de se couvrir de sacs et de cendres? Vous appelez ça un jeûne, et un jour agréable pour Yahvé?

Is such the fast that I have chosen? the day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

6 « N'est-ce pas là le jeûne que j'ai choisi: pour libérer les liens de la méchanceté, pour défaire les sangles de l'étrier, pour laisser les opprimés libres, et que vous brisez tout joug?

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the fetters of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

7 N'est-ce pas distribuer son pain à celui qui a faim, et que tu amènes les pauvres qui sont chassés dans ta maison? Quand tu vois le nu, que tu le couvres; et que tu ne te caches pas de ta propre chair?

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him, and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

8 Alors ta lumière éclatera comme l'aurore, et votre guérison apparaîtra rapidement; alors ta justice marchera devant toi, et la gloire de Yahvé sera votre arrière-garde.

Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thy healing shall spring forth speedily; and thy righteousness shall go before thee, the glory of the LORD shall be thy rearward.

9 Alors tu appelleras, et Yahvé répondra. Tu crieras à l'aide, et il dira: « Je suis là. « Si vous enlevez du milieu de vous le joug, le fait de pointer du doigt, et de parler méchamment;

Then shalt thou call, and the LORD will answer; thou shalt cry, and He will say: 'Here I am.' If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking wickedness;

10 et si vous répandez votre âme à ceux qui ont faim, et satisfaire l'âme affligée, alors ta lumière se lèvera dans les ténèbres, et ton obscurité sera comme le jour de midi;

And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in darkness, and thy gloom be as the noon-day;

11 et Yahvé te guidera sans cesse, satisfaire votre âme dans les lieux arides, et rendre vos os forts. Vous serez comme un jardin arrosé, et comme une source d'eau dont les eaux ne faiblissent pas.

And the LORD will guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make strong thy bones; and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

12 Ceux qui seront de vous rebâtiront les anciennes ruines. Tu relèveras les fondations de nombreuses générations. Tu seras appelé Réparateur de la Brèche, Restaurateur de chemins avec des habitations.

And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places, thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called The repairer of the breach, the restorer of paths to dwell in.

13 « Si tu détournes ton pied du sabbat, de faire ton plaisir le jour de ma fête, et appeler le sabbat un délice, et le saint de Yahvé, honorable, et l'honorer, de ne pas faire à ta façon, ni de trouver son propre plaisir, ni de parler avec vos propres mots,

If thou turn away thy foot because of the sabbath, from pursuing thy business on My holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, and the holy of the LORD honourable; and shalt honour it, not doing thy wonted ways, nor pursuing thy business, nor speaking thereof;

14 alors tu feras tes délices de Yahvé, et je vous ferai monter sur les hauteurs de la terre, et je te nourrirai de l'héritage de Jacob, ton père ». car la bouche de Yahvé l'a dit.

Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD, and I will make thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and I will feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father; for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
