2 Rois 16

1 La dix-septième année de Pékach, fils de Remalia, Achaz, fils de Jotham, roi de Juda, commença à régner.

In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah, Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

2 Achaz avait vingt ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem. Il ne fit pas ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel, son Dieu, comme David, son père.

Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He didn’t do that which was right in the LORD his God’s eyes, like David his father.

3 Mais il marcha dans la voie des rois d'Israël et fit même passer son fils par le feu, selon les abominations des nations que l'Éternel avait chassées devant les enfants d'Israël.

But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and even made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.

4 Il offrait des sacrifices et brûlait des parfums sur les hauts lieux, sur les collines et sous tout arbre vert.

He sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree.

5 Alors Retsin, roi de Syrie, et Pékah, fils de Remalia, roi d'Israël, montèrent à Jérusalem pour faire la guerre. Ils assiégèrent Achaz, mais ne purent le vaincre.

Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war. They besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

6 En ce temps-là, Retsin, roi de Syrie, récupéra Élath au profit de la Syrie et chassa les Juifs d'Élath; les Syriens s'installèrent à Élath et y ont vécu jusqu'à ce jour.

At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drove the Jews from Elath; and the Syrians came to Elath, and lived there to this day.

7 Achaz envoya des messagers à Tiglath Pileser, roi d'Assyrie, en disant: « Je suis ton serviteur et ton fils. Monte et sauve-moi de la main du roi de Syrie et de la main du roi d'Israël, qui s'élèvent contre moi. »

So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your son. Come up and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who rise up against me.”

8 Achaz prit l'argent et l'or qui se trouvaient dans la maison de l'Éternel et dans les trésors de la maison du roi, et il les envoya en cadeau au roi d'Assyrie.

Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the LORD’s house, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

9 Le roi d'Assyrie l'écouta; et le roi d'Assyrie monta contre Damas et s'en empara, emmena son peuple captif à Kir, et fit mourir Rezin.

The king of Assyria listened to him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus and took it, and carried its people captive to Kir, and killed Rezin.

10 Le roi Achaz alla à Damas pour rencontrer Tiglath Pileser, roi d'Assyrie, et il vit l'autel qui était à Damas. Le roi Achaz envoya au prêtre Urie un dessin de l'autel et les plans pour le construire.

King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and King Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest a drawing of the altar and plans to build it.

11 Le prêtre Urie construisit l'autel. Selon tout ce que le roi Achaz avait envoyé de Damas, le prêtre Urie le construisit pour l'arrivée du roi Achaz de Damas.

Urijah the priest built an altar. According to all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Urijah the priest made it for the coming of King Ahaz from Damascus.

12 Lorsque le roi arriva de Damas, il vit l'autel; il s'approcha de l'autel et y fit des offrandes.

When the king had come from Damascus, the king saw the altar; and the king came near to the altar, and offered on it.

13 Il brûla son holocauste et son offrande, versa sa libation et fit aspersion sur l'autel du sang de ses sacrifices de prospérité.

He burnt his burnt offering and his meal offering, poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings on the altar.

14 Il fit venir l'autel d'airain qui était devant l'Éternel, de l'avant de la maison, entre son autel et la maison de l'Éternel, et le plaça au nord de son autel.

The bronze altar, which was before the LORD, he brought from the front of the house, from between his altar and the LORD’s house, and put it on the north side of his altar.

15 Le roi Achaz donna cet ordre au prêtre Urie: « Sur le grand autel, brûlez l'holocauste du matin, l'offrande du soir, l'holocauste du roi et son offrande, ainsi que l'holocauste de tous les habitants du pays, leur offrande et leurs libations, et répandez-y tout le sang de l'holocauste et tout le sang du sacrifice; mais l'autel d'airain sera pour moi un lieu de consultation. »

King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, “On the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, the evening meal offering, the king’s burnt offering and his meal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, their meal offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle on it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice; but the bronze altar will be for me to enquire by.”

16 Le prêtre Urie fit ainsi, selon tout ce que le roi Achaz avait ordonné.

Urijah the priest did so, according to all that King Ahaz commanded.

17 Le roi Achaz coupa les panneaux des socles, enleva la cuvette de dessus, enleva la mer de dessus les bœufs de bronze qui étaient dessous, et la posa sur un pavé de pierre.

King Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases, and removed the basin from off them, and took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it, and put it on a pavement of stone.

18 Il enleva le chemin couvert pour le sabbat qu'on avait construit dans la maison, et l'entrée extérieure du roi dans la maison de Yahvé, à cause du roi d'Assyrie.

He removed the covered way for the Sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king’s outer entrance to the LORD’s house, because of the king of Assyria.

19 Le reste des actes d'Achaz, qu'il fit, n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?

Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

20 Achaz se coucha avec ses pères et fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David; et Ézéchias, son fils, régna à sa place.

Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
