2 Corinthiens 8

1 De plus, frères, nous vous faisons connaître la grâce de Dieu qui a été accordée dans les assemblées de Macédoine,

Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;

2 comment, dans une dure épreuve de détresse, l'abondance de leur joie et leur profonde pauvreté ont abondé jusqu'à la richesse de leur générosité.

That in a great trial of affliction, the abundance of their joy, and their deep poverty, abounded to the riches of their liberality.

3 Car, selon leur pouvoir, je l'atteste, oui et au-delà de leur pouvoir, ils ont donné de leur propre chef,

For to [their] power, I bear testimony, and even beyond [their] power, [they were] willing of themselves;

4 nous suppliant avec beaucoup d'insistance de recevoir cette grâce et la communion dans le service des saints.

Praying us with much entreaty, that we would receive the gift, and [take upon us] the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.

5 Cela ne s'est pas passé comme nous l'avions prévu, mais ils se sont d'abord donnés au Seigneur et à nous par la volonté de Dieu.

And [this they did], not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us by the will of God:

6 Nous avons donc exhorté Tite à achever en vous cette grâce, comme il l'avait commencée auparavant.

So that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.

7 Or, comme vous abondez en toutes choses, dans la foi, dans la parole, dans la connaissance, dans tout ce qui est sérieux, et dans votre amour pour nous, faites en sorte que vous abondiez aussi dans cette grâce.

Therefore, as ye abound in every [thing], [in] faith and utterance, and knowledge, and [in] all diligence, and [in] your love to us, [see] that ye abound in this grace also.

8 Je ne parle pas comme un commandement, mais comme une preuve, par le sérieux des autres, de la sincérité de votre amour.

I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.

9 Car vous connaissez la grâce de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, qui, bien que riche, s'est fait pauvre à cause de vous, afin que vous deveniez riches par sa pauvreté.

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

10 Voici le conseil que je vous donne: il est opportun que vous, qui avez commencé les premiers il y a un an, non seulement fassiez, mais encore ayez la volonté.

And in this I give [my] advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.

11 Mais maintenant, achevez aussi de faire, afin que, comme il y a eu la volonté de faire, il y ait aussi l'achèvement selon votre capacité.

Now therefore finish the doing [of it]; that as [there was] a readiness to will, so [there may be] a performance also out of that which ye have.

12 En effet, si l'empressement est là, c'est en fonction de ce que vous avez, et non en fonction de ce que vous n'avez pas.

For if there is first a willing mind, [it is] accepted according to what a man hath, [and] not according to what he hath not.

13 Ce n'est pas, en effet, pour que les autres soient soulagés et vous affligés,

For [I mean] not that other men should be eased, and you burdened:

14 mais pour qu'il y ait égalité. En effet, l'abondance dont vous disposez en ce moment comble leur manque, afin que leur abondance comble aussi votre manque, et qu'il y ait égalité.

But by an equality, [that] now at this time your abundance [may be a supply] for their want, that their abundance also may be [a supply] for your want: that there may be equality:

15 Selon qu'il est écrit: « Celui qui amassait beaucoup ne manquait de rien, et celui qui amassait peu ne manquait de rien. »

As it is written, He that [had gathered] much had nothing over; and he that [had gathered] little had no want.

16 Mais grâces soient rendues à Dieu, qui met dans le cœur de Tite le même zèle pour vous.

But thanks [be] to God, who put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.

17 En effet, il a bien accueilli notre exhortation, mais étant lui-même très sérieux, il est allé vers vous de son propre chef.

For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went to you.

18 Nous avons envoyé avec lui le frère dont la louange de la Bonne Nouvelle est connue dans toutes les assemblées.

And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise [is] in the gospel throughout all the churches;

19 Non seulement cela, mais il a aussi été désigné par les assemblées pour voyager avec nous dans cette grâce, qui est servie par nous à la gloire du Seigneur lui-même, et pour montrer notre empressement.

And not [that] only, but who was also chosen by the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and [declaration of] your ready mind:

20 Nous évitons cela, afin que personne ne nous blâme au sujet de cette abondance qui est administrée par nous.

Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us:

21 Ayant égard aux choses honorables, non seulement aux yeux du Seigneur, mais aussi aux yeux des hommes.

Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

22 Nous avons envoyé avec eux notre frère, dont nous avons souvent prouvé le sérieux en bien des choses, mais qui l'est encore plus maintenant, à cause de la grande confiance qu'il a en vous.

And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have often proved [to be] diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which [I have] in you.

23 Quant à Tite, il est mon associé et mon compagnon de travail pour vous. Quant à nos frères, ils sont les apôtres des assemblées, la gloire de Christ.

If [any inquire] concerning Titus, [he is] my partner and fellow-helper concerning you: or our brethren [be inquired of], [they are] the messengers of the churches, [and] the glory of Christ.

24 Témoigne donc de ton amour pour eux devant les assemblées, et de notre vantardise en ta faveur.

Wherefore show ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.
